i wont pay 50 or more a month for the ability to get text emails only if this passes everyone should go back to using phones but also stop buying any internet access and stop buying media devices because the internet for most ppl is to learn and back things up and entertain and they will take it all away i urge everyone to stop this from happening every time they try!!! ironic they are using the medium of the internet to stop this attack of the internet lol

It's funny how they're going after the internet, when it should be one of the last things on their mind with how messed up the US is already. They think this little idea will help but it will only piss a lot of people off. The internet is like another world for a lot of people in this day, and now that they screwed up on reality, they are going for everybody else to screw everybody over more.
The US government has been, is, and always will be fucked. Sometimes I'm not so "proud to be an American". There should be a law where politicians being bribed so that they willingly or unwillingly change their opinion is illegal, they're the biggest scumbags I've ever seen. Greedy CUNTS. Ron paul for 2012.
Shared to my Facebook. I refuse to see an entire country be stupified because people are afraid they will lose money. It will stop everything the internet is good for and not hit the target to which they want.
those bills have effects on the global web, though i don't see how us has jurisdiction worldwide. look at how mega upload went today, they are hong kong based if i'm not mistaken and were taken offline by the us department of justice. the US were behind the raids on pirate bay so whatever they decide there has global ripples
@centurionx5 If a country is part of the UN we have the right to go into their country to arrest someone for breaking our laws. its stupid but they can
@soloman8596 Well if you want to watch/share content created by US citezens like from youtube channels based in the US , then yeah. They'll be blocked, and you won't be able to see their stuff. It could probably effect you even beyond that but I don't want to go into all of that in a comment.
People who support this or dont know much about this bill are just thinking that it's gonna stop piracy or some utter bs, that is only going to happen if the internet gets shut down. They dont realize that the internet as we see it today is going to be a very different place, controlled with censorship and so on. I'f this something like this gets passed, it makes me feel like i would not want to live on this planet anymore. Anyways, keep doing what you do untill sopa rapes us all.
I think these videos wont do much in the fight against SOPA, but it's good that more people are aware of this. Cause the major news networks dont give a crap about it, and yeah we know why this is the reason, guess who owns them...
Looks like you've got two subscribers Wrath that are either Democrats or are from the music/video/media industry. Thanks for posting this Wrath. It's a real shame that people think this is to stop piracy when in fact it affects every corner of the Internet, and it impinges on our rights as Americans.
We're the ones paying them to use it, and we're the ones making it what it is.
People on the internet act accordingly to things we don't think should be on here. In the most recent case, someone that uploaded a video of them and 5 other people beating the shit out of one guy.
We found those people, and we turned them into the police.
We don't need the government telling us what we can and can't have on a service we pay to use.
i think there should be a law that says that government representatives should not be allowed to accept money from corporations. these son's of bitches are getting payed millions of dollars to strip our rights and that is ridiculous. it;s essentially a bribe. but i know such a law would never pass. i mean who would vote for something that deducts their pay?
Copyright has gotten too far. Back a 100 years ago, copyright holders considered it an honor if somebody used their work, not to mention our Country, the USA, was founded from using a philosophers teachings and is the major foundation, word-for-word, of our very own declaration of independence.
I don't know how Wall Street isn't campaigning against these bills. If they pass, their heavyweight stock (Google/Youtube) will die. Which will tank the rest of the market.
it isn't going to happen in my opinion. congress wouldn't put themselves in jeopardy like that. when i say that i mean a declaration of war. not verbal war, not protests, i mean people trying to actually kill and fight the government. either they kill all the citizens in the US or change their fuckin stupid bill that's going to pass. don't even bother replying to this comment, just food for thought
This is one of the best videos I have watched that actually explains what is going on with these bills and what they are trying to do. Thank you for linking this vid and hopefully with enough exposure these two ridiculous pieces of legislature will be shot down.
If these bills pass, it would be like going back in time to pre-YT times or before other social media networking sites, such as only having CBS, NBC and ABC.
I think this is much bigger than piracy or even sharing, that these media companies are not only worried about illegal copying, but also people watching/consuming amateur hour more than the established networks and them losing their share of views/revenue. How do you take out the competition? make it illegal for them to do it!
"You shall not pass" a bit of copyrighted material for you right there; this bill cannot and will not pass in it's current form at-least it has too much of a major effect on large industries, it would hurt not only the consumer but also lots of big businesses that ultimately would have a major backlash type affect on government and the world economics. There are far more jobs created though the ability to share then jobs lost through it's damaging affects; in my opinion.
@dsm1891 I remove any link attempted in any of my comment sections, and i would have thought my uploading of this would be a good indicator of my bias.
Perfect find/share! I passed this onto my facebook and twitter because I think that too many people form a decision based on things they don't fully comprehend or misread.
I actually find it funny in how SOPA and PIPA are worded that, I as a Canadian citizen, would be under USA law because of how domain names are classified by region, not by nationality. Meaning my dot-com, even though its hosted in Canada, its registered to the registry in the USA (region 1) along with Mexico and 20 islands in the Carribian. This also means I would be trialed not by a Canadian court, but an american and my rights as a Canadian would be void.
@wrath111377 Which tools are you talking about? Bypassing DNS is definitly possible, for one by typing in the ip address as stated in the video, and i doubt FTP servers are going to be stopped. Are we talking torrents hear or blocking searches by pulling the funding from the site? That will ofcourse stop alot of the general piracy, but with a little knowledge that is not a problem. I am honestly interested to hear what im missing. To be clear im speaking specifically about piracy.
