Everything you said is very true. I think we feel like this because most of us would be better than we are! I dunno ... who knows the image and likeness of God!
Although I was not around in 1954 the music and culture of that time lived on well into the 60's and 70's. and What does Obama have to do with Perry Como? We do agree on one thing allot of the political nuts were not around then including; Palin,Bauchman, or Bush,.....but Pat Bucanan was around. Truman then Ike. Not such a bad history for presidents. Harry and Ike were not nasty with the politics back then. Hopefully we will learn some lessons of consideration form 1954!
@jaakriaj The human being is always just as evil. It just goes through periods of showing it more or less. Also, pure nostalgia will always make yesterday sound better than today as the human memory literally dumps the bad for the good once a few years have passed.
So basically: nothing happened to the human being, and there was plenty of evil.
MrSchermvlieger wrote: This song is just great, but they really should have worked a bit more on the choreography, ha ha, Come on guys/gals shake that thing :D
This was from a 1 hr variety show, back then, where budgets were limited & vulgarity, as it is "choreographed" today, was not broadcast into our homes like it is today. This "choreography" was very appropriate for the decent values that existed back then. Not to be confused with some of the visual trash on television today.
Perry is as smooth as ever... and at least the improv reprise at the end, if not the whole thing, was recorded live. Imagine how our stars of today might cope?
This is from the end of one of Perry's thrice-weekly {Monday-Wednesday-Friday} 15 minute Chesterfield shows on CBS, at the time "Papa Loves Mambo" became a top ten hit. Peggy had previously appeared as his summer replacement on "TV's TOP TUNES" (for the same sponsor, Liggett & Myers)...
Perry is so cute! and I love that back then artists (!) had dignity and elegance and they could entertain you without being almost naked or wearing crazy clothes, look at Perry I could look at his smile for hours.
@Ferbbie How true. I always wonder why people nowadays like to act crazy and slutty just to attract attention. If they could act like these people, I bet they would gain more respect.
@calihartley2010 I think that there is no way to do that nowadays...if they want to gain a lot of money (to be popular), they must be naked or doing something crazy and irregular, why? because people are getting more and more dumb by years! they are tired from work/school and they need expressive stimulation to catch their attention...it so sad! you can notice that also from their behaviour towards each other and the way the majority spend its leisure time.
@Ferbbie Yes I agree with you. It is sad that people prefer to be crazy than to be morally correct. I think it is all because the whole western world is kicking God out and also trying to cater to the whims and fancies of people who love to pull their race cards even when they are in the wrong. I do not want to be part of this PC nonsense since I too would probably be a loony. Many people say that we are better off than the 50s. I beg to differ. A good example is Jersery Shore and Snoop Dog.
wow I'd hate to side track on Perry Como's fabulous voice and entertainment but got to about 3:06 to #:09 and look at the guy all the way on the right. Huge ass forehead, oh my god.
