  • It's not Peter Ham... good effort.

  • Great job, especially on the vocal!

  • This shouldn't be compared to the studio version. It should be compared to live versions. Joey's singing is better and his band is tighter (and the tempo is better) than the Pete Ham & original line-up version on the *Day After Day* album. For that matter, that's one reason Badfinger never got the recognition the Beatles did: they were not nearly as good, practiced and experienced as a live band.

  • @HousleyMike.. Without Pete the song doesn't exist. Maybe the band sounds tighter but Pete's vocal is better in every version live or not.

  • I don't care if their voices lose a little over the years. I still love and love to hear the guys who put so much into this beautiful music in the first place. RIP Pete/Tom. You guys left a big space to fill.

  • The tempo was just a little slow.

  • Joey sounds really good here at the age of 40...but more recent footage of him at 60+ I'm afraid his voice is gone.

  • One of the most underated bands. Great songwriting. Saw them 1972, my first concert when I was 12 in San Antonio. I will always rember that. Straight Up, is one of the best albums of all time. IMHO...

  • Straight Up! I have to agree with that.

  • wasnt even born yet but i would have to agree that this is 1 of the best bands of all time. just discovered them within the last few months and i cant get enough.

  • Met Jeff Ross when he was backing Gerry of 'Gerry and the Pacemakers' at a Beatlefest in LIVERPOOL, New York, USA. He's still got it. Also, saw Joey Molland at a Hippiefest in Hartford, Ct, too. He was really on that night. Rock On, dudes!!

  • met joey back in the mid eighties when he was playing with a road band ,became friends and gave him a hand with band equiptment when in town , finnally asked if i could audition for the band since the studio drummer lacked the feel and sounded more like a robot, he did give me the chance to come to minneapolis to audition for him ,but had to decline because of lack of travel funds , badfinger is one of the best artist to come around since the beatles but never got the recognition they deserved

  • Great Song - Great Version, Even so, it doesn't hold a candle to the original version with George Harrison...

  • of course, Joey in his hayday was not 1/2 the singer Pete Ham was, & now-adays he sounds worse, like he's losen it. if you notice, the song is down 1/2 step from key F to the key E

actually thats a full key down, but still a 1/2 step from F to E. and that always takes the punch out of songs, when they lower the key, even Pete sang it live sometimes in "E"

sometimes in "F"..it's hard nite after nite for the vocalists to sing certain songs in the orig key, their voices get tired and sore.

  • "Day After Day" was originally recorded in the key of E. The record is close to the key of F because the tape was slightly sped up. The band always performed it in E, though.

  • They played it live in E, but the original recording is in the key of F. i don't know about speeding up any tape, but the original recording is most definately in the key of F.

  • The most under-rated band ever. Fantastic pop.

  • very well put!, thank you i feel the same!

  • They don't write songs like this anymore ... more's the pity

  • another great 70's band.

  • not just another great 70's band, one of the greatest 70's bands/acts..the original line-up

was so full of talent, that was never realized due to the hardships & tragedy they went thru.

  • Nice job Joey!

  • This particular song always meant so much to me. It was when I first heard it on the radio that I really became of Badfinger. I spent the rest of the seventies tracking down all their albums. I still love this song although nobody can sing it as well as Pete did. :(

Still, thanks for posting - I enjoyed hearing this version. :)

  • good version

  • OMY GOD I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!
