Son of a gun! I've known part of this song for 50 years and never knew what it was about. Now I hear the rest of the words and it makes sense. Hank sure was unique!
This will be a treasure in my collection. Thank you for the video and the wonderful scenes that flowed with the words of the song. Hank Snow has long been a favorite of mine and this is just another wonderful example of his talent. The only other version I have heard is from the Riders in the Sky.
@marecanine Thanks for spending some time on my Channel. Yes, this is one of my favorites of H.S. songs so I did not mind spending extra time in putting together the video for it.
I have over a hundred Hank LP's, but can't recall hearing this one.
Much more interesting with the fine video work done here.
Hank had the ability to make an average song a "Classic"!
Thanks for this, I like everything about it!!
Don't miss the "Hank Tribute", in Bridgewater Nova Scotia, held every 3rd wkend in Aug.. Starts officially on Thursday, 18th., some get started before. Lots of Hank & other music jams & stage music all wkend.
Another Hank Snow master piece. No one will ever sing and play like that very gifted man could. His singing and music will live forever in the country music field.
Everyone else said pretty much what I wanted to say, so I'll just say thanks, for this fine upload.

Pig Robbins was probably playing piano on this song. What great session people were on this cut.

I like this song but it sounds a bit different than his original version in the late thirties or early forties. *****

Loved this song since I was a kid - the words are so charming, and no one does it like Hank. They don't write 'em like they used to...
