  • I just watched this video cuz I'm going to change mine really soon. So glad you filmed this a long ass time ago. I remember when you did WHERE THE HELL DID TIME GO!.

  • considering xoutpost.com brought me hear, you video is well known and has helped many people

  • @CRAZYXBLACKXMAN Thanks dude. How are the guys with the X5's doing? I haven't been there in a while.

  • @CRAZYXBLACKXMAN id say pretty dam good.theres pretty much a solution to all of the X's notorious problems one way or another.a lot of the new threads are just a matter of what to mod next or questions that were already answered, but the person was too lazy to do the research

  • Great thank you very much this saved me $200+ because I did it myself

  • Niiiice! Thanks A Lot!!!

  • Thank you for the great video and step by step of this procedure it was really helpful.

  • @stevemuch1 Thanks dude. I could have done better. Sucks when there's no one to hold the camera for me :)

  • Hey nice work! my car (2000 323ci) having a problem: it's giving P1188 and P1189 codes. When I got it checked, it turned out to be the vacuum leak from one of the hoses coming out of the PVC. I got it fixed and now there is no more vacuum leak. But still showing the same codes! What else could be the problem? Oxygen sensors are working fine too! I know it's prob not the reason but my air box is kind of loose; do you think is that what's causing the trouble? And where did u get the air box from?

  • nice vidio i try it later... thanks...

  • Anybody have any spare DISA parts laying around? I only really need that yellow peice that controls the flap. Mine fell apart. Thanks.

  • Hi, what's the part number for the updated DISA? Thanks!

  • @NPogar 11617544805 If you check out my other vids I stated it :)

  • @XionUnjust Oh damn, sorry about that. I've been trying to track down little issues with my motor for awhile now. I had no idea the DISA was so easily removed! Have you removed the intake mani and done the CCV and vacuum lines?

    Thanks!

  • @NPogar No problem. Yea, the DISA is easy as pie to remove. The intake manifold I have not done, I heard from some people that it's easy and that it's a nightmare from others. The CCV I did do two weeks ago, took me 3 hours which is fast. The vacuum lines I haven't touch, just trying not to break them.

  • @XionUnjust Yea, I was planning on replacing all the vacuum hoses under the manifold along with the CCV, DISA, and Throttle Control Valve. I've got a vacuum leak somewhere and my throttle body boot isn't cracked so I'm guessing it's under the manifold.

  • @NPogar Did you check the hoses from the F-tube on top of the intake boot? There's also that hose from the secondary air pump on the passenger side of the engine which goes to the back of the engine and probably to the tube.

  • @XionUnjust No I haven't. Honestly I've been waiting to have the time to do the entire project. While I'm down there I may as well replace as much as I can. I'm also in the process of re-doing the suspension, bushings, and front end alignment components.

  • Very well explained. Good Job.

  • Would that be the same problem when starting up the car at 5am, it has a rattling sound, like if something was loose inside there, and after it warms up it shuts. Thank you very, and by the way great videos.

  • Good morning, I have a 2004 330i zhp, the scanner is giving the following codes, po174, po171 it says an injector, or MAF. Is there any way i can contact you for further help.

    Thank you again.

  • Hello, first of all you're lucky to have a ZHP :)

If I remember correct those two codes say that that the banks are lean, correct? That can be cause by many things and is often hard to diagnose. The DISA can be on (the seal around it has a leak), it can be a vacuum leak in one of the lines, it can be the MAF, O2 sensors and some other things.

  • I would stat by taking out the disa and use some sealant around the gasket (forgot which kind), get some MAF sensor cleaner and spray it down and look for any tears in your intake boots.

  • Really appreciate you taking the time and trouble to help others.

A lot of the DIY on my M43 engined 316i is pretty simple but I'm still wary of tackling some jobs. There's nothing like a video to show you its not rocket science and doable by most of us average home mechanics. Thanks very much for this and all the other vids you do.

  • You're welcome . I agree that vids are better in a way compared to written instructions, clears out a lot of things.

  • hey i got question..if i take out the disa is there anything i can use to clean it until i buy another one? like a certain parts cleaner..thanks

  • Well, I just replaced mine but I guess you can use CRC brake parts cleaner (brakleen or whatever) and clean up any gunk. some people use some sealant around the rim to prevent air leaks

  • thank you so much, ill be doing it friday

  • it really is that easy!!need the T40 bit though 5$..the disa calmed downed my arratic idling problem..262$ tax included..if ur car has a rattling sound coming from box..replace it!!u can do yo self..it was the best 262$ i ever spent on my 330ci!!props to XIONUNJUST for the vid -)..126000 miles..now my car feels the way a bmw should..especially on highway-)

  • @laossun

    Glad everything worked out :)

  • i try to learn more and more about bmw maintenence ..but all this video make me deprest like...i wonder what to check first,or what to change..and belive me people...i'm gona do a bmw dealer test...and then start...coze some things ar..ddiy!!

  • thx very much... I hear the rattling sound above about 3-3,5 000 RPM (I am pretty sure that DISA is gone). Is there anyway of repairing it?

  • you're welcome.

well, it is possible to repair it, but it's just a matter of time before it goes. over time the gasket will get weak and it might case a leak there. you can take out the unit and maybe great up the area better, but that might not be enough to stop the pin from coming out.

once it comes out it's going into the engine.

  • Thanks again! Yes, I guess it really is DISA (tried your suggestions), I have ordered a new one and will try to replace it on my own with your (video) help...

I just didn´t understand what´s going into the engine? Could you please explain?

Btw, I have had a oil burning problem for a while now, changed the PCV, done a engine compression check and no problem there... could it be somehow caused by the DISA problem? Although I doubt it...

  • So I changed the DISA today, being sure the rattling will go away, but it didn´t... don= t really get it... btw, the old DISA is all oily, is it ok or something was wrong with it?

Thanks, I really apreciate this kind of videos and suggestions...

  • by the way, to check if it's the DISA listen to the engine area by there at idle.

then turn off the car and unplug the connector on the DISA and turn on the car. if you don't hear a rattle/tick anymore it's that.

  • nice vid! the e46 318i l4 also has this disa ? or not?

  • Nice!!!

  • Thanks!!

    BMWfanfromQuebec

  • Nice work, what does that do? what is is for?

  • It opens a valve and controls airflow above a certain RPM.
