Brian Johnson did a good job to keep AC DC alive ( no disrespect for the other members of the band - but to replace the front man is no easy task ). Angus young to AC DC = Ace Frehley to KISS - both are fckn legends !!!!!!

Long live both bands - the late 70's was all about AC DC and KISS, thats when they both ruled the world, oh....

buddyboy hit the nail on the head. From 78 onward, they had lost their edge. Kiss had become (and still is) more about making money than about being a kick ass heavy rock band.

I saw them for the first time on New Year's Eve, '75-76 at The Nassau Colliseum in NY.

No one and I mean NO ONE could touch that band that night.

If only they didn't do the solo albums, left "I was made for lovin' you" off "Dynasty" and didn't do "Unmasked" or "The Elder." And after "Dynasty" they put out "Creatures of the night!" And NEVER did "KISS meets the phantom." Instead, put out a live concert film with enough fireworks to win a small war! They would never have turned into cartoon characters. And if only they skipped those dumb Dynasty/Unmasked costumes and instead went for more 'Creatures of the night' type costumes after 1978!

My point is, I wish KISS had not turned into Vegas showgirls during the Dynasty/Unmasked era, and instead stayed the dangerous, hungry band that scared every parent in the mid-70's. When those same parents started taking their little children to KISS concerts during 79-80 - it was all over.

Gene is getting waaay too fat to wear the Destroyer costume now. I think the most wicked looking costume was the one he wore during the "Creatures of the Night" Tour. Kinda a combo of the Destroyer, Love Gun, and Elder costumes. Even his makeup looked meaner! Slimmer, with sharper edges. Not the "fat bat" makeup of 79-80 and today.
