ideally you should build the self feeding fire up with a small void in the middle in all layers except the second top layer and bottom layer, this allows coals to fall into this crevice, starting the rest on fire. Other then that bravo mate and good vid.
@verifor I couldn't tell ya, as I kept feeding the fire into the night. I believe the method is just another way to skin a cat so to speak. Keeps you from having to actually "feed" the fire for a period of time, so as to focus your attention on other possible tasks campside. Thanks for watching!

Interesting video. Never heard of this method before

Wood should have been more spread apart,your not getting enough air and smothering the fire

Ideally, you wouldn't use the tampon before lighting it on fire.

@IR0NM1K3 Exactly!. Altho if you did, I'd let it dry out a little before hitting it with a fero rod. And, rubber gloves might be an order.

Who invented this? This is not in my Boy Scout book. Is this legal?
sidewindermack 1 year ago
@sidewindermack
Not sure who invented it, but it is just another way to make a self feeding fire. Should be added to Boy Scout manual. Thanks for watching.
