Although Cyprus is not a Greek sovereign country it is ethnically Greek well half is the Turkish side is not even worth a mention. Cyprus is Greek in terms of customs, tradition, language, religion, food etc...I don't want to complicate things but in the 70's Cyprus almost merged with Greece, unfortunately the Turks intervened.

Well, Cyprus comprises of two ethnic groups. Greek Cyps and Turkish Cyps. Greek Cyp's speak Greek, have Greek names, follow the Greek Orthodox religion and Greek customs and Greek traditions. Basically they have Greek culture but they're an independant state and have their own goverment.
