  • 4:34 best part ever hahahahaahah

  • Andrew Ryan is still alive. He's got the vita-chambers. I believe his whole reason for having his son kill him was to give him the will to take revenge and kill his other father fontaine. That and play dead.

  • @009nhalf Andrew The vita-chamber was turned off in his office, and Vita Chambers work only if you die near them. He was not near them. It's also been said that they don't "revive" you, but merely make a clone of oneself. HOWEVER, the Vita Chamber in his office was turned off, yet you still spawn in it if you die. If you look at Bioshock 2, Eleanor takes DNA from over 10 years old and is able to recreate the main character. It's spotty in some places, but there's no real answer.

  • @duckmaster50

"would you all kindly go get laid."

    Sure. Got a "little sister"?

  • this twist completely took me by surprised and about choked on the food i was eating. thank you bioshock for being the best game i have.

  • 3:21 did any one noticed he sed would you kindly

  • @NZMW2nurdxbox ummm duh

  • @NZMW2nurdxbox No shit.

  • Hmm... the only thing i don't get is, if Ryan could make you follow with the would you kindly phrase, couldn't he just say something like "would you kindly NOT kill me" and the Jack would have to obey. The thing is, if that was the case, then Jack should have been useless to Atlas, right?

  • @mAwesome334

There are many reasons why Andrew made Jack kill him.

Another one is because he knew he was going to lose his city by the time Jack came into his office anyways, so he got so depressed that he saw no point in living anymore, if only to see his fallen city be stolen by a man he hates (Frank) .

  • Just now finished this part a few mins ago and man . . talk about emotional investment! I wouldn't want the story any other way but I seriously did not want to kill Ryan! yeah it's what he wanted I guess . . but still . . . damnit I really liked him!

  • Bioshock has the most Genius Story Ever .

    Its so classic, and original

  • he just wants to prove a point

  • would you kindly c:

wooow, i never noticed that Atlas used the phrase over and over again

  • @candylover64439 ya nither did i i can never find it now though lol

  • luv the little sister watch out mister follow me

  • OBEEEEEEEY!!!

  • What I don't get is what was he trying to prove?

  • i dare say he obeyed lolz

  • Frank Fountaine, would you kindly go and burn in hell?

  • genius game

  • Nice work boyo!

  • didn't see that comin

  • did any1 actualy notice Atlas say would u kindly all the time ?

i did on my 2nd playthru

  • Everyone did..

  • You know I thought the laughter was a bit too much. But the scene is fuckin epic... especially Ryan's monologue...

  • A MAN CHOOSES A SLAVE OBEYS

  • Did he kill himself or did you hit him with that stick?

  • yes he killed himself but you hit him with the golf club he told you too and you obey him.

  • Jesus loves me, this I know. For the Bible told me so.

  • Hey! That rhymes!

  • That part with the splicer singing that haunts my dreams lol

  • Little ones will (something-something) they are weak but he is strong.

  • this song is dancers on strings and the best song ever

  • One of the best stories ever told in a video game = Bioshock.

  • @QLVAT

i know, they should make a book out of it....made of the different audio diaries found in the game put in order from the start of rapture to the end

  • @QLVAT ur wrong its not one of the best... it IS the best

  • @QLVAT bioshock ftw best game ive played

  • @QLVAT Half life is just as good

  • @Naramitzas I disagree.

  • A MAN CHOOSES!

  • A SLAVE OBEYS!

  • A SLAVE OBEYS

  • KILL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • NOICE WERK BOYOOOOO

  • cool, on which part? Neptunes bounty being the weakest point. Or the final boss being too easy?

  • rolf im palyin through the game right now and its gettin pretty freaky i just thought atlas said those words to have manners

  • Ok... So I know who Jasmine is, but.... who is the lady that gets stood up by Ryan, i think twice? and is she relevant at all?

  • I love this part, awesome twist

  • A MAN CHOOSES

  • good twist. unfortunatly after this, game gets weaker. it wasnt anymore so good

  • I thought it maintained the same momentum. The weakest point of the game for me was Neptune's Bounty. Though it is disappointing how easy the final boss is, and I did it on hard.

  • That bastard. The least he could've done is give Jack the inheritence.

  • note reads would u kindly open this @ 62'2 N 29'85 W

  • Ryan reminds me of the gman from half life...

But anyway I love how the game explains everything. All the details right down to the vita chambers are explained and it really fleshes out the whole world.

Also the note on the plane flashback says would you kindly, I only saw it when playing through on my tv though

  • Ryan wasn't even the bad guy, least he could have done other than suicide was give you money and adam

  • I never noticed this before, but the family flashback at 0:54 has Tenenbaum and Suchong as the mother and father.

    Very sly... :)

  • the actual parents are Ryan and the stripper Jasmine i think her name was

  • I know, but the genetic and mental conditioning of Jack was done by Tenenbaum and Suchong, so in a strictly abstract sense, they were Jack's parents as well.

  • Oh my god, I have played through about 3 times and NEVER noticed

  • now go get stepped on by a big daddy, would you kindly?

  • would you kindly thumbs up this comment :D

  • @darkmatter223 Alright, sir. I complied. Now would you kindly thumbs up mine? *Gets whacked by a crowbar*...... OBEYYY!!!!

  • Alright so this part always confused me. So starting at the beginning Ryan is the father and the dancer Jasmine is the mom but she sold Jack to Fontaine and then Fontaine put a lock on Jack's brain that made Jack do whatever he wants when he said "Would you kindly" then Fontaine gave him a gift in the beginning of the game that had a gun and Jack took over the plane and went down into Rapture to kill his father and just hand it over to Fontaine. Man what a fucked up life. Am I right?

  • You have to admit though, getting back at Fontaine at the end of the game is sweet vengeance, no?

  • "A man chooses, a slave obeys." Those are some really wise words...

  • Lol Ew

  • I think Ryan was actally in a way helping Jack, (I don,t now how, im mean killing your father is screwed up!)

  • He wanted Jack to somehow remove the conditioning to be a man, not a slave, his death will make him more receptive to those words, Andrew Ryan also wanted to die as he had lived - on his own terms

  • The video before this has it where Andrew Ryan pretty much says: "Atlas, I know you're listening. You can kill me, but you can never have my city."

And by the sound of the ending, he wasn't joking.

  • so jacks whole life was fake? he was made by fountaine like others to kill and obey.

think about it would you kindly

  • as Kuato in Total Recall would say, he is "defined by his actions, not his memories"

  • Jack's was brainwashed as a child then raised in a home. He was set to lead a normal life or think that he did until Fontaine woke him up with the magic words, "Would you kindly?"

Jack is Ryan's son that Jasmine (The dancer) sold to Fontaine for whatever amount of money. Fontaine used this as a perfectly ironic ending.

  • best plot twist in gaming history

  • definitely, in the ten top of the best plot twist in gaming

  • i thought the ryan was the bad dude, not atlas, it all makes sence in a way now

  • One was in it with the best of intentions, he let fear and corruption consume him later on, the other wanted control from the start and didn't care who had to fall to get it (he was the catalyst of Rapture's damnation - "welcome to rapture", welcome to HELL more like!)

  • soooo let me get this straight jack being ther was sabotage, and ryan is his father and the phrase "would you kindly" is like a magic word for orders

  • SPOILERSPOILER

Jack were taken as an embryo by fountaine ( he bought it of jasmine, Ryans lover). He then gave it to suchong and tenenbaum to modify its genes and then Jack was born. He was like a robot. They had created codes that he needed to follow. His genes were created that way. He also grew fast. When Jack was one year old he had the muscular strength as a 19 year old. Then fountaine send him to the surface only to use him later to kill Ryan. Jack is ryan child = vitachambers, batyphere.

  • But, are you sure that Suchong wsn't Fontaine? Becuse he mentions how he was a china man for six months, it would make sense how he was able to build up the plasmid nd gene tonic business. But then Suchong ws killed by a big daddy wasn't he?

  • Yup, I Have also heard that and I thought it was possible til I Found Suchong´s body later in the game:/. So fountaine can't be suchong but maybe fountaine took suchon's identity? I don't know really. Yea, Suchong got killed when he went after a little sister.

  • Actually you find a tapr that documents his death (he got mad at a little sister and slapped her, not smart)

  • Well, the little sister actually said Papa Suchong, so its either his own daughter he turned into a little sister, or the little sister just knows his name.

  • So.... the magic word isn't please its, Would you kindly?

  • I swear, the scene where you kill Ryan disturbed me quite a bit.

  • same hear i loled when ryan said would you kindly kill that son of a bitch ryan

  • I think it's worse when you realize that Ryan *wants* you to kill him.

  • bioshock has the best

    game plot of all time

    hands down

  • word

  • A man chos *blam* right in the face with a golf club. going up to a guy how hates your guts with a golf club held lightly in your hand is not a good idea. smooth rayn

  • Andrew Ryan forces Jack to kill him..... "Would you kindly" is a code word that make Jack Obey, Obey like a slave.^^ lol

  • and also to make the point stick, to make Jack find a way to remove the genetic conditioning so he can choose

  • this story has many more back story than any other game i'll tell you that.

  • Would you kindly tell me who frank fontaine is? lol

  • Frank Fortaine is Atlas. Before Jack arrived to Rapture, Frank started illegally smuggling (therefore going against Andrew Ryan's purpose for creating Rapture, which was to create a society of freedom, and contacting the surface). Frank has a huge back-story (read on the BioShock Wiki) that made him powerful enough to challenge Andrew's power.

  • He got into a shootout with Andrews people and a civil war erupted in Rapture. After faking his death in battle, he used ADAM to transform his personality and appearance. What you find out in this video is that Frank brainwashed Jack originally to go and hijack a plane to make it crash near Raptures location by using the Would you kindly trigger phrase.

  • He needed Jack to kill Andrew so that he would be in complete control of Rapture and could receive profit from all the scientific and industrial progress by contacting the surface once again (and hes loaded with ADAM).

  • Long story short: Atlas/Frank Fortaine brainwashed Jack to kill Andrew Ryan (whos actually the good guy) so he could take over Rapture.

  • Andrew Ryan is more an anti-hero, he does things that go against his principles to do what he believed is right

  • Oh, yeah. I'm saying he was originally good in some aspects.

  • i hear that lol

  • Family reunion from Hell. I don't think even Springer would take this case.

Although it is fun to imagine.....

  • fontaine's got the ultimate evil laugh.

  • Does that only happen at the end if you save all the sisters to this point? Or is it default and supposed to happen no matter what?

  • GODDAMN SPLOICERS!!!

  • He's not dead as you heard ina diary a vid back or so a soemone says "Ryan will only have the Vita Chamber's set to his genetic frequency" which would mean when you "killed" him he revived in a chamber

  • he turned it off before Jack arrived in his office, either to prevent the TRUE enemy from torturing him endlessly (dieing on his own terms) or to ensure that Jack got the message and worked towards removing the mind control.

  • What happened to the video???

  • This game is sadly the nightmare omen of our world...

There will be times that people will do nothing but obey to advertisements that tell them "buy this NOW"...oh wait, this time is already here -.-

  • would you kingly stop saying would you kindly, would you kindly?

  • :( it made me kinda sad when he stopped talking irish boyo

  • DA DA!

  • would u kindly make more bioshock videos

  • would you kindly vote democrat

  • Would you Kindly Give This Comment A Thumbs Up

Would you Kindly Stop At Gamestop And Buy This For The PS3 for 59.99 WOULD YOU KINDLY Make Money For 2K

  • Would you kindly... go out and buy this Amazing game?

  • i beat the game, but why did he want us to kill him?

  • He wanted to die on his own terms, he would rather do that rather than live in a world NOT of his choosing (also it would allow Frank Fontaine to kill him many times over).

  • shouldn't andrew be repairing and bringing his city back to what it was instead of playing golf

  • yes

  • That's why he needed to die.

  • RYAN ISN'T DEAD!!!:O if you look at the vita chamber before this area you see that it is active even after he sets rapture to go boom. therefore that means that he is alive because you come back because you have andrew ryans dna and andrew ryan has andrew ryans dna so that just means he came back and vita-chamber and then i dont no but that could lead into next game(hope hes in next one would be so cool to kill him again:P)

  • sry guys, my comment was supposed to be a reply to a comment

  • what did you use to record this on your PC?

  • I'm pretty sure he mentions fraps in the Arcadia levels.

  • are you a slave of whom?

  • A MAN CHOOSES...A SLAVE OBEYS

  • Nice plot twist!

  • Bioshock is trying to make us polite..

    Would you kindly?

    OVER AND OVER

    Good phrase though.

  • i dont think golf clubs were ment to be used like that... especially with one end sticking out of a guys head... so would you kindly not let me see that again?

  • i dont think they make fart sounds either when they come in contact with a person's head. lolol

  • lol

  • Youd think of all the things Ryan could have put in the city, and escape pod in his office would be first and foremost so he could vamoose long before Jack got there.

  • ryan wanted to prove that he was the man not the slave. Becuase he chose to let you kill him. That makes you the slave

  • Iteresting Ryan chose to go out on his own terms, defiant to the end.

Although him just standing there and taking it like a little bitch without even TRYING to fight back seems weak and incongruous compared to the ruthless "ends justify the means" rugged individualist we hear about throught the game.

Nothing rugged in just standing there and letting yourself die without a hint of a fight. He should have at LEAST tried to swing at Jack with the club.

    Ryan went down TOO easy.

  • Ryan did it because Jack was his son...and he realized that jack was the closest thing that he'd ever have to a son.

  • yep, its hard to get laid in the middle of the ocean.

    unless he raped a splicer...

in which case he's not have a penis anymore, and he'd have more than a gold club in his head amirite?

  • @ReverendSyn It means he wanted to die on his own terms by his son Jack rather then getting caught by Frank Fontaine. Frank would choose a MUCH worse punishment for Ryan if he choose to live and leave with Jack.

  • He did him a favour as it's a better fate than what "Atlas" would choose for him.

  • this game fucking owns!! the story is fucking siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiick and the gameplay is just fucking brilliant

  • So, does this part of the game reveal that "Would you kindly" is a phrase used to hypnotize splicers, or something?

  • Would you kindly is a trigger phrase implanted in the main character's mind that he must obey.

  • AGH.

    I love this game.

  • no.

  • Perhaps Ryan's course was a Par 3. GET IT?!

  • Would you kindly give this comment a thumbs up?

  • must give thumbs up..........

  • MUST....THUMBS....UP!!!!!

  • Would you kindly give this a thumbs up

  • that would be you then.

  • damn arashion got so much thumbs up!! good trick!!

  • I flinched with every smack to the head Ryan took...on surround sound with heavy bass, on a 46" HDTV, the music, sound effects and visuals really does make it slightly horrifying to watch him take a beating like that.

  • Note to Self:never mess around with a guy with a golf club O_O

  • i dunno if this is important but if you use the incinerate plasmid on one of the walls while you are in the vent escaping with little sisters, you can see a drawing on one of the walls clearly standing out in the fire.

  • to bad the golf club dosnt replace the wrench

  • this is probably the best cut scene in a game period. this is what makes bioshock's story and game so ridiculously good. I love it. btw mactiddy your walkthroughs are awesome.

  • Why do all bad guys laugh?

  • Because evil is fun!

  • would you kindly fontaine, shove that key up your ass!

  • i never saw this coming i passed this game over 10 times and everytime it gives me the chills

  • Any man who lets you kill him to prove a point is badass.

But I would have laughed if he lured you in the office with his little speech, and then cracked you over the head with the club. Game over.

  • yeah. ryan wanted to die on his own terms.

  • biggest tiwst in the whole game

  • yea it is

  • biggest twist in any game!

  • You are a retard.

  • No actually he's right.

You hear Fontaine say "my kind of work takes on a variety of alias'" - alias means a name.

So then he goes on to say "Hell, I was even a china man once", meaning he put on a chinese accent, with a chinese man's photo on the radio and lured him through Rapture like he did the main character.

Please don't jump to conclusions like that, let alone calling him names.

  • so atlas was suchong?

  • No...Suchong is an important character in the game as he's the main scientist in Rapture. He developed the ideas of Big Daddies, Little Sisters, harvesting Adam...

He's his own character, Fontaine/Atlas was just saying that one of the characters he faked to someone coming into rapture was a chinese man. It doesn't mean anything, he's just explaining that he's put on a wide variety of voices.

  • if you thought that was funny, you are gay.

  • he feels like the Gman from Half-Life 1 and 2. <:O

  • what the hell... ''Once i was a china man for six months''... WHAT THE HELL

  • "chinaman" is a semi-racist term for someone of Asian descent

  • too bad atlas is not even real...
