I believe he is referring to the woman who worked as his fund raiser. She was a Muslim who son also worked for Carter between his first and second convictions when he was freed.

She caught him in several lies and witnessed him bully her and her son to no end but still dismissed it. One night she went to see him about missing money and he beat her nearly to death. Although he avoided prison for that crime, most of his celebrity support and money stopped. Dylan never sang Hurricane again.

This is just not right. I've checked some of the stories about this man and if the Wikipedia is even half right, this guy is a damned good liar. How he can keep a straight face is an achievement in itself.

The movie had me in tears thinking how terribly he'd been treated, then I checked a few of the movies claims and found them to be simply untrue and verifiably so. Carter should have the grace to hide his face.
