besides the objective fact that axl is an icon (and a douche), his range goes from baritone 2 notes most girls can't do, he holds notes for very long runs while sustaining the power and he screams rly well altho in a different style, more like Steve Tyler (btw: nu metal didn't invent screaming, it comes from blues). on the other hand, chester has a good voice 4 wat he does: the nu metal scream, hevy emotional vocals. still, its like comparing meryl streep to kate hudson and u no it.

Can you hear that??? Anyone that remembers the original GNR heyday will remember that sound. GNR sounded amazing with Steven on drums. He has a certain groove that Sorum couldn't match! Unique style. I'm sure Slash and Duff could hear and feel it too, there's chemistry there. All we need is Axl and Izzy to join those boys once more to show people what it was all about back in 1987

Or, y'know, just take *this* band out on tour. Navarro would give 'em a bit of a contemporary, experimental edge, and Chester - being a generation younger than the other guys - can probably run around a stage and belt out the vocals better than Axl can these days. He's certainly more energetic than post-pacemaker Slash. :)

Sorry but I must disagree with you. Axl's voices is amazing lately and he can still belt out the songs. If Axl reconciled his differences with Slash and rejoined this group of musicians...you'd witness magic!!!

Axl's voice is great these days... when he's standing still. Compare the 2006 Rock am Ring performances of Nightrain (standing still, fantastic) with Better (running around, awful). Nothing can change the fact that he's got 20 years on Bennington, and physically can't run around and howl the way he used to.

And that's before you get into the whole "Slash is a cancer" thing. Axl isn't going to play with Slash again, ever; taking a good young vocalist on tour is as good a substitute as we'll get.

He's a decent vocalist in his field, but there is no way he is anywhere near as good as Axl. Technically, he hasn't got the same range at all, or the power behind his voice that Axl has. He also doesn't have the stage presence that Axl does. Seriously, watch this then watch Axl doing it in the late 80's/early 90's and you'll see the better vocalist.
