  • Where abouts in Hanoi is this?

  • @ausssiemite We shot this all over Hanoi. Parts in the old quarter, Dong Xuan market, Cao Lau street, Cha Ca La Vong, Quan An Ngon.

  • This is so true throughout Indo. Whenever we go and surf (and eat :)) it's never the place that everyone else eats that has the real thing. You have to ask the locals, start with the owner of whatever losmen you're staying in, They should know how to direct you around the market and eating in the area. My advice: LISTEN TO THEM! You won't eat nearly as well if you don't. Plus, it's a fun place to tramp around playing foodie in. Well, it's fun for just about anything, but that's another story.

  • @kern0099 Definitely a good foodie rule to follow throughout the world: ask around and go where the locals go Oh, and make sure the tablecloths are cheap and the chairs plastic.

  • @umarket Yep. The voice of wisdom. All top cuisine comes from how regular working people eat.

  • My stomach is growling right now

  • @VIPBJ21 Then we are doing our job :)

  • how did i come here from CoD black ops?

  • I love ur video, i miss Vietnam so much! GOOD stuff

  • @01dragonfire Thank you!

  • Good stuff man!

  • @costiflorea Thanks! Glad you enjoy it.

  • awesone country!!!. from russia with love !!

  • I live in Thailand and I see markets like this everyday. I eat street food here and it's delicious. Many dishes I see in the video are similar, other are different but look great! I'll go there sooner or later. One only thing I don't wanna even see: the dog and cat meat. And not because of the meat itself but because I've seen what happens to those poor animals BEFORE they die!!! Cruel, disgusting, inhumane...

  • @duitubbi Yeah, I don't know if it's still there in Hanoi, but there was a street devoted solely to dog meat restaurants. Outside of that, the food is pretty nice.

  • What I would eat with 10 dollars or 20 in there!?

  • @calito0010 based on prices when we visited, you could probably order anywhere between 10 and 30 dishes, depending on the restaurant or street stall. If you are really interested, just search on Vietnamese food on our site Uncornered Market. There are a couple of posts related to this video that explain exactly what you could eat while visiting Hanoi.

  • @umarket average of 20 dishes with only 20 Dollars?: effing Great!!!!!! :3, I would like to eat in the streets at night. yum

  • I am from Vietnam but left the country since 1980..Haven't been back since but would like to go back one day..So much changes..

  • God i love hanoi..went there for few days when doing full tour of vietnam :0

  • @ziclepickle It's a lot of fun, isn't it? Everywhere you turn, some kind action...and a lot of motorbikes (at least when we were there).

  • I know street foods look cheap and dirty at times but they make even better food than restaurants at times. They know that they can't compete with restaurants on decor, atmosphere and comfort so what do they compensate on? The Food! Also street vendors usually sell only one type of food so they're kind of experts on whatever they're selling.

  • @doetim We totally agree on all counts. Just because it's street food doesn't mean that it's any less hygienic than a restaurant (and vice versa). And cost has little to do with taste, quality of food and satisfaction. We've written a fair bit about this on our website, Uncornered Market. For so many reasons, we tend to favor street food (or hole in the wall restaurants).

Good point that street vendors often focus on one dish or one style, so they are specialists.
