  • My mom and her best friend loved all things Petula Clark; we grew up with her music and whenever I hear it, I remember picnics at her best friend's house with our entire families coming together. I miss those times and those people SO much! You always think life will stay that way forever, but it doesn't.

  • Love the sitar.

  • Ahhh, thank you for clearing that up. The composer (Mills?) had the horns and drums exactly like Tony Hatch's template for what I (and possibly others) refer to as "Big Beat" music. Few people were writing like Hatch. "I Know A Place", for example, has parallel major chords in the verse section (like the bridge of Alex North's "Unchained Melody"). Not a day goes by, that I don't marvel at that song, and think, "Why isn't Hatch as renowned at George Martin?"

  • Another great collaboration between Petula and composer/arranger Tony Hatch. Only Burt Bacharach could write "big beat" music on the same glorious level as Hatch. (Did Tony Hatch write "It's Not Unusual" for Tom Jones?)

  • @professortheremin- no according to wikipedia: "It's Not Unusual" is a song written by Les Reed and Gordon Mills, first recorded by a then-unknown Tom Jones after having first been offered to Sandie Shaw."

  • How about a tour of some great scenes of this planet we live on, accompanied by some great songs? Start here, then Johnny Mathis "All the Things You Are", Jennette McCurdy " Me With You", Sarah McLachlan "Rainbow Connection", finishing with Linda Ronstadt "Somewhere Out There". Feel free to add other stops to the tour.

  • I just had to listen to this song again. This is a great song to listen to over and over again. Too bad today's music can't be this good.

  • @1962drob- hi Dean! Have a great weekend! Ron

  • @rwells47 Thanks Ron! You have a great weekend too. It's always nice to hear from you :)

  • I loved this song when it first came out in the 60s. The video posted with this is fantastic.

  • @Ikivanhalainen- thanks, I'm glad you like it! Ron

  • @denniserhodes Why don't you Bible-Thumpers just shut up and let people enjoy a sweet song from the 60s without being subjected to your monotonous, irritating indoctrination/propaganda/preaching. You don't know 'Your Father' loves you nor do you know if 'Jesus' wouldn't detest you (if you imaginged he was among you today) due to your sheer arrogant, brain-rotting ravings. Keep your nonsensical opinions to yourself and let people enjoy a love song that has nothing to do with 'Jesus'!

  • @KrisTianbull1 You seem to be in a bad mood. Get yourself a big bar of Hershey's Special Dark and chill!

  • @denniserhodes Agreed!

May all people know the joy of Jesus in their heart in this very dark time we live in.

  • aww lovely lovely! i had to shut off my annoying t.v.? and turn on some lovely music like this? THANK YOU PETULA CLARK FOR COLORING MY WORLD :)

  • yeah!good times waiting on the other side yeah!no hate no sorrow!one bright sunny never ending day right ?of course

  • if this doesn't bring a smile to ur face nothing will

  • This is a great song, Petula Clark was all over the radio when I was growing up. Sounds much better here than on my tinny little transistor radio!!!!

  • Is it "color" or "colour"? There are mixed reviews with the titles

  • @MrSportsnut100- in the U.S. we spell it "color". The "colour" spelling is mainly a British spelling! Ron

  • @rwells47

    Just a clarification.

"Colour is the English (language) spelling throughout the English speaking world, with the exception of the USA.

This is due, in part, to Noah Webster's insistence that he knew better than a thousand years of language development.

  • @rwells47 Colour is the way we do it in Canada , same as glamour, etc....

  • thanks i need that for school :)

  • @cheekypants321-you are welcome! Ron

  • Nobody and I mean nobody could out preform Petula and this version of Colour my World. The band/music/background vocals, backing up that bueatiful voice of Petula is not to be overlooked. I've got my headphones on, an I've never heard it sounding so good. Never use to wear 'em, and back in the days when I bought the Pets greatish hits lp I was playing it on the stereo consul, which is no longer avaliable...it was a nice piece of furniture & so is "Downtown"& "Colour my World".

  • Always loved to hear Petula..thanks for sharing this video, Ron..

  • Petula has been coloring our world for

over 50 years with the most beautiful

songs ever recorded. I read Tony Hatch

meant this one to have a country flavor plus--

the sitar-- a gamble that paid off when

it began to rise in the charts in'66. The last time I heard it on radio was 10 years ago in Hazelton, PA while driving one night listening to the local oldies station.

  • No sitar. Think electric guitar w/ waa-waa pedal.

I remember attending one of her shows when I was a young boy w/ my older sister. Watching Pet singing & dancing on stage gave me my first 'yen' for the opposite sex (TMI for sure).Loved her ever since that show and will always be thankful :-) .

  • @bluejayday2009 - It nice to know that there was at least one oldies station willing to play this.
