i have to be honest. before this album, i thought roxy music sounded goofy. i don't know what happened with this album, but it is such a different, markedly beautiful sound.
i lived in ontario canada loved wmms they played great music cleveland rocks so does wrif in detroit now in alberta now i listen to serrius great music
@reddevilparatrooper There was a man whom I loved and still lives in my memory 25 years later. I sometimes wonder what my life would have been with him. I was young and stupid and afraid. I will love you forever Dax. Maybe next time.......
@ltreyltrey Jagger you jealous cunt, he stole his woman after thinking "God this guy's got real talent how can I fuck him up?...I may as well steal his girlfriend"
omg... finally re-found this. my mom really loved this, and I do, too. It is so dreamy... takes me on voyages in my imagination. there really isn't more than this. bryan's voice is one of the best I ever heard... so very, very sexy.
@ongerie1 I watched that match on tv. It was a fucking miracle and I only knew that because the announcers were like "this can't be happening". Back then the Russians were bad ass and scarey.
Now they are just regular dudes, and I'm okay with that.
Brian Ferry has one of the most distinct voices ever. Who in their right mind would think this song is bad? Talking about stirringup some awesome memories. Roxy Music was a big part o my life in the late 80's early 90's while living in Japan.
A superb song from a remarkable album. I saw Roxy Music live at the French festivalm Rock En Seine in August 2010 and although they delivered a great set, I was disappointed they didn't play this classic and the song avalon!
This song showed all those bands who had drawn inspiration from Roxy......Siouxsie...Japan....Duran....Bauhaus....etc what a class band this was....the song was effortless...a shining beacon to others....and strangely it transcended fashion styles though Roxy had been for a time a pure statement for Music and fashion being fused together
According to Joel Whitburn this song never even reached the Billboard Hot 100 pop singles chart. It stalled at pos #109 & didn't get any farther than that. This song should've gone much higher than #109. This should've been a Top 10 hit just like it was in the UK. WTF was Casey Kasem smoking at the time?
Great stuff, in NZ visiting from England, went to see Brian Ferry And Roxy Music in Auckland, a birthday present to me from my daughter loved it !!!!!
The perfect song! No other way to put it! Never thought one note repeated twice (1:13 and 1:17) could move me so much!
By the way, does anyone else get a very freaky/hairs on your neck stand up when you hear this song and look at the album cover? It totally freaks me out for some reason.
if only an entire C.D. were made of the chord progression at the end - the progression that is under the verses - that combined with the beat makes the song sail along the way it does - perfect for walking along for hours listening to it letting it carry you away - the groove of it makes it work so well - but all creation must be destroyed by the Most Merciful Most Compassionate - have faith that Allah can provide much more than a 60 trillion year long groove that is all that this earth is amen
From the opening notes one of the greatest pop songs ever, perfectly suited to the plaintive quality of Bryan's voice. An instant and eternal classic.
this song has ben in my head all day. This guy wants me but maybe I dont can't really want him .Fag life is impossible. This album is so amazing. The arrangements some tracks are just instrumental and Brian ferry's voice.I could cry forever with this song as music scape!!!
This is my favorite album. I first listened to it on Mt. Tam. in northern California with a man who was in love with another but we made love there anyway, to this music.
Beginning sound's like Joy Division! hard to believe i know, but it does up to 0:13 anyhow. Sound's similar to Atmosphere in a way. Both early 80's band's so obviously an influence there.
@jameyinegypt True...mainly the drums. As for the rest of the song i think the keyboards sound similar to some Joy Division material...what do ya think?
@reset2zero1 I used to write his name on every school bench, every toilet door, in every tree......I was crazy in love with Brian when I was a teen! This music remains forever!
@kamariforarts you have good taste in music, a lot of the credit must go to brian eno who produced so much of roxy musics work, the u2 album the unforgettable fire is regarded as one of the best they ever made it was also produced by brian no.
I find there to be no Roxy tune deeper and more moving than this. I would have liked to have seen it as the last song on the album, as a sort of farewell.
Last 17 seconds or so always gives me goose bumps.

I always loved to dream along Mr. Ferry's songs mainly after his 80s tunes...
They recharged me with the richness of pleasant feelings.
So much beauty lies is his unique music and more to it, I fully implemented myself into his emotion.
He's a superb musican and full artist :-)
Tks. for the share of this excellent sound here :-)))
