Im a girl and have raced since i was 5 and im 15 now. i always go to nationals i was at that race. Flat track racing is very extreme and dangerous. Everything is scary about it cause yours lifes at risk and you dont know what could happen out there. My dad and bro have been in horrible wrecks but i havnt so far thank god. My family really loves it and we dont let anything stop us. Some people act like they know eveything about it but honestly they dnt and dont know the feel of it. I love it
@MrTcamp42 Your joking right. Speedway racers don't even come close to the speed Flat Trackers do. Don't get me wrong I like pretty much every kind of motorcycle racing, but dirttrack is the most exciting by far. Have you ever attended a Grand National mile or 1/2 mile? If not, go and watch at track level, then post a more informed opinion.
You don't happen to know where to find any footage of the legendary Kenny Roberts win at Indy on the 750 do you? I've seen it on Take it To The Limit, but there are no DVDs available.
I like the shot starting just after 2:08 which shows the pack coming down the start finish line after their first lap.
They've come out of the first turn and are trying to get settled in for the remaining laps. Always being challenged by the riders behind you who want to get in front of you at risk to you.
Because the race is held during the evening when it is dark, it makes the racing even more dangerous. The lighting must be horrible with the layer of dust on your visor...
20 riders and everyone wants to be in first place knowing that it takes risk to finish in the low numbers.
It has got to be scary to be in the middle of the pack while sliding through the turns, dust everwhere, dangerous track with objects that will kill you if you hit them, then going down the straigtways tucked in, to open up and slide into the turn again...

The average person has no idea of how skilled and how dangerous riding like that is.
Look at the start at 1:50
20 riders and everyone wants to be in first place knowing that it takes risk to finish in the low numbers.

Brave riders.
