they mean "keep walking past that open window, don't jump out of it and commit suicide" i.e. despite today's problems, there's always tomorrow to look forward to, so don't give in to what's hurting you today and take your own life. "Keep passing the open windows" is a line from a John Irving novel called "The Hotel New Hampshire".
