You can be Italian, French, Belgian, Spanish etc. : Greek music gives you a mysterious emotion. . Why? Because Greece was the cradle of our civilization and its music is in our DNA until earth will exist

I disagree, Arispreveza. I'm Greek and when I hear Mario singing this, I don't even think of any other interpretation. It's the song that's carved in our hearts - and Mario's amazing voice makes it even more wonderful.
but When a Greek person hears this song, in reality he hears Grigoris bithikotsi's voice because it has been curved in his heart through all he has lived all these decades since this song first came out.
The song is naturally very good, but the singer is 1000 times better, he is elegant and handsome, he has an enchanting smile, clever and thrilling eyes and for sure kind heart...a REAL GREEK PRIDE IS THE GUY!
This song was the second one I ever heard from Maria Farantouri. It was in 1972 and I was extreamly impressed. It is my absolutly Nr. 1 of all Greek songs. The version of Milva her version with a new German poem, I really can't stand. I never understood Mikis Theodorakis for giving his permission. Sorry IIkamy for my contradiction. Hope you don't mind.
You can't compare it with Milva's German feminist version "zusammenleben - to live together". It has completely different but very nice lyrics. The refrain is based on the famous citation by Simone de Beauvoir: "One is not born a woman, one becomes one!" I'm quite sure that Mikis likes this lyrics and the singing by Milva too... ;-))
I don't mind your contradiction... that's democracy.
This song gives me goose bumps. I was walking round Sydney on Australia Day and suddenly heard it coming from above. There was a bouzouki trio on the balcony. I just sat in the road listening to them.

I love you Mario. The most beautiful man in the world. What a contagious smile. And how can anyone sing so fantastically too? The gods created a miracle.
farantouri this is a song of theodorakis but also the lyrics are of the great seferis we must not forget this i thing the music of excellent mikis and the poetry of seferis makes this song unique in the history of music
DENIAL On the secret seashore white like a pigeon we thirsted at noon; but the water was brackish. On the golden sand we wrote her name; but the sea-breeze blew and the writing vanished. With what spirit, what heart, what desire and passion we lived our life: a mistake! So we changed our life...
We expected him to become a tenor but he choose somewhere in between,in any case Mario is a very handsome young man and a real artist and his recitals are worth watching
