I first heard real Greek music ( Theodorakis' music) when I was 19 years old ( first year of college ...it was my birthday and at my birthday party I invited my college mates; one of them brought tapes with Theodorakis' best songs and do you believe me that we all danced all night long sir taki and we forgot about rock'n roll and other dance music??? we really had the greatest party ever !!! This song was the second one I ever heard from Maria Farantouri. It was in 1972 and I was extreamly impressed. It is my absolutly Nr. 1 of all Greek songs. The version of Milva her version with a new German poem, I really can't stand. I never understood Mikis Theodorakis for giving his permission. Sorry IIkamy for my contradiction. Hope you don't mind.

I agree, the original song is the best!

You can't compare it with Milva's German feminist version "zusammenleben - to live together". It has completely different but very nice lyrics. The refrain is based on the famous citation by Simone de Beauvoir: "One is not born a woman, one becomes one!" I'm quite sure that Mikis likes this lyrics and the singing by Milva too... ;-))

I don't mind your contradiction... that's democracy.
