  • I had the honor of seeing these men perform live many years ago at a folk music festival in Berea, KY. They were the only African American performers, and I thought they might have trouble winning over the crowd. Instead they brought the house down! These men are gifted by God to make great music.

  • Absolutely lipto, delicious

  • why did the second camera man have to be retarded???

  • Amazing !

  • This is no argument between black and white... this is pure music :) Beautiful. Stop arguing and love this music!

  • First of all they done a great version! I like it... To queen bitch...I'm mixed my great grandma was black and was raised when times was hard she used to sing this to me when I was a kid...you need to shut up and quit being ignorant..listen to what these men are singin about maby you will learn something...

  • Did you ever notice that all your hateful messages don't get like by a lot of or any people. This is because the men have the courage to get up and sing about something that meant and still means so much to so many. People who have the audacity to tear them down via the internet or by any other means are ignorant cowards who need to take a good look at their own lives before judging other people.

  • For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatever disease he had John 5:4

  • Cool

  • OI! Camera man! Freakin MOVE! D< You're in the way of talented soul singers! <3 I wish we had more harmonies like this instead of voice tuners and stuff :/ It's not as soulful and expressive

  • @queixa-If your an atheist then wouldn't you believe that you don't have a soul?

  • This is the birth of our Black Music culture , Just voices and creative sounds.

You Brothers due justice to not only to yourselves but our spirit to overcome all adversity with our believe in God....Keep on Singing.

  • SOOOO WANT TO DANCE TO THAT!

  • @clancy132 my teacher told us wat tht means,"Gods gonna trouble in the water"tht means they need to go through a river n if go in the River, the dogs cant smell them n Williams hace trouble finding them

  • Now I know my history on black culture. This is one of MANY songs that helped create what we now know as jazz but what I don't understand is that it says "God's gonna trouble the water". Now to me it sounds like God's gonna make it hard for the black folk in there escape. I know I'm wrong but can som1 explain it to me?

  • I've been looking fo this song fo months!!

  • @GurlsCallMeDaddy

    Wade In The Water !

  • beautiful song for a hard history

  • BEAUTIFUL =D

  • This doesn't offend me or God, I think. It's sung beautifully. @svaughnt This is a song sung by slaves to spread the word about, and support the idea of the underground railroad. 'Wade in the water so the dogs can't smell your trail,' is the message conveyed. Not only is it a slavery song, it is one of the most important slavery songs to American history.

  • @jimmybgreat It also helped slaves become less detected because they wouldnt look in the water mainly on land.. This is a fight for freedom "wade in the water"..

  • im with you on this one

  • @jimmybgreat This song is about our history in Egypt. we are the true children of Israel. the railroad stuff is not true. this song was just decoded by the slave masters.

  • Comment removed

  • why in the hell does everyone think this is a slavery song this is baptismal song it does not have anything to do with slavery...religon and slavery were two count them two different things people need to get their facts straight...beautiful song though none the least

  • @svaughnt come on, where do you think gospel came from? slaves singin in the fields

  • @svaughnt this song has a lot to do with slavery. if your black you really need to learn your roots, if your not you need to learn some history.

  • @svaughnt What was go down moses supposed to represent?

  • @svaughnt Somebody needs to go back to history class and study more about African Americans during the slavery period.

  • well done

  • Beautiful.

  • priveleged to see this - I'll be using it in context of teaching black history - together with history detective show about first book of spirituals "slave songbook" - and bbc/ british museum programme Akan Drum , history of the world in 100 objects

already talked about anansi stories and capoeira - and played cuban alto songo stuff ... thank you for this - from rural small town in UK

  • this is great right here

  • @neonshoji agree completely. this song should be not sung in this way.

  • The image of the slaves crossing water to help in the run for freedom is certainly in there, but the lyrics use the reference to John 5:4 -- deep spiritual meaning there, too.

  • Awsome Ofc!

  • cameraman rooting into the frame. ruins the video. Nice performance
