Some of the best Frampton playing is on Humble Pies' live album "Bless its pointed little head" Wish I could find that.
I saw Peter (Framptons Camel) open for Santana at Massey Hall in Toronto in the early seventies. Awesome show. Then Carlos called him out to play a few tunes with him at the end of his set. We reached nirvana that night. Too bad the music industry got a hold of him and wrecked it for guitar playing.
Frampton did stuff live - for decades - that clapton and many others could only TRY to do in the studio. Too bad he got a bad rap for being a pretty-boy.
Dude, two different styles, i'm sure it had nothing to do with thinking Gaines was "Better" than Frampton! Frampton's not a southern style player. Tell me who played the guitar parts on the studio "Ramblin Man" with Dickey Betts? That player was never part of the Almann brothers either.
Yeah, I was just trying to make a point with "rebelskull". Most of those "on stage" players couldn't touch Les's talent. Frampton's more rock and fusion, not really southern. peace
@silkat2 right two diff worlds..Steve Gaines was a surprise monster talent, they let him jam onstage cause at 1st he came thru his sister cassie (one of the back-up trio-honkettes?) anyway he blew them away and they asked him to join even though they were planning on staying w/ just the 2 guitar players Rossington & Collins, but they all agreed & Steve added so much to the band , besides great picking, he sang & wrote well & that fit perfectly into the bands style, & he was a hell of a guy!
Is anybody else PISSED OFF because Sony RUINED the Great Woods DVD? Unlike the Laserdisc version Sony cut into ALL the songs with interviews. I'm a videographer and that is a NO-NO in the editing world. It NEEDS to be re-edited and released the correct way. SHAME on you SONY and EDITORS!
What i had to do was take my Laserdisc, transfer to DVD. The problem is, it's only 2.0 Dolby Digital but Sony remastered the sound for DVD and when i first played that on my system, my jaw dropped open and a smile was on my face but as i reached for my beer, the disc broke to interviews!! my mouth closed fast from anger, i bit my tongue and dropped my beer. Sony sucks and they should redo the wonderful god given concert at their expense. They ruined the best Allman concert on the planet.

Frampton is a very underrated player, probably because of his popstar persona... See him live and he's awesome. I'd put him up there with the greats.
