  • which loco???

  • @Erailways WAP4 from GMO shed.

  • is ur dad a DRM?? it seems u r nicely connected to IR!!

even i want to become like u sir.....is there any site or book where i can get to know about all the locos....u have great knowledge!

  • My uncle used to the GM of ER. But that was many years back. If you are a member of IRFCA, you can get all your questions answered.

  • hello sir....im from mumbai.

i want to know is there any procedure i have to do if i want to footplate YDM's in NR(rajasthan)?

  • There really is no set procedure. If you happen to know a high-ranking railway officer in that area, you could put forth a request. Otherwise, just ask the driver and he might oblige!

  • Hey! You r departing from my hometown Junction the massive HWH Junction .. Loco Inspector do accompany LP's through out there duty i suppose . According to me Loco inspectors are more friendly than LP's i can say that after watching this video of yours hehe .. Whats the job of Loco inspector?

  • Howrah is truly massive. I still remember seeing the cream-orange Asansol Exp. with a matched-livery WAM2 at Howrah - this was back in the late 70s. On this trip, the loco inspector was there to give me company, answer questions, etc. His job is to also to make sure the LPs are focused on their job.

  • How come they are talking in tamil at Howrah?

  • Only the loco inspector is a Tamilian, the drivers are not. He is talking to me in Tamil :-)

  • What engine is this? Is it a YAM?

  • No. It is a WAP4. YAM1's are MG locos - they are all gone!

  • I just noticed the video description..video taken in 2000. As most of your videos are from early 90, I thought this was an old engine. Now with all terrorists and stuff, do you think it is ok to film or take photos of trains in metros or any station in India?

  • If you get official permission, it is ok. Even then, they advise you not to take loco sheds and other 'sensitive' areas.

  • Now that is going to be a pain then..just coz they will probably giv me a wierd look. So it does look like I cant stand and take videos like how you did standing on the platform. And one more thing, the WAM and YAM they kind of look the same except the color or something is different? Were the YAM converted or something to other locos?

  • You can take photos/videos but just be discrete. WAM3 and YAM1 had a similar shell design (and panto orientation) since both were Mitsubishi locos. YAM1's were MG locos, they only ran between Egmore and Villupuram - they were never converted to any other locos. They just ceasted to exist, once MG got replaced in the Egmore-Villupuram section.

  • they are speakin' tamil i guess. whats the discussion about !

  • The loco inspector and I were communicating in Tamil. I was asking him about the track conditions in the Howrah-Barddhaman route (among various other things).

  • i love FOOTPLATE VIDEOS! thanks a lot.
