straight guys who arent threatened or abusive about gay guys are the best guys in the world. i think lesbianism is a lot more acceptable. it's tough for straight gays to be labelled as gay if they defend gay guys so it shows their courage and good hearts if they DO despite the worries that they'll get attacked for it.

The word "homosexual" is more appropriate and accurate because it, unlike the word "gay", actually describes the behavior/attraction/relationship being discussed.
Kids are vicious. They search for any differences, and then use those differences to alienate and mock that person. Even trivial differences. I was always the outsider who was teased and picked on a lot as a kid. Although not gay, I can greatly appreciate the difficulties gay students face, and the need for such Gay-Straight alliances.
Bravo to you young people. You are articulate, compassionate, and you have the strength to stand up to injustice. I wish you well in overcoming the hurdles some schools use to make you feel "less than." You are all beautiful just as you are. Keep fighting the good fight for positive change.
