  • The problem with All electric Green Cars is the price! They start at 27k to 31k. My Corolla cost 6k. Now if Gas cost $4-gal, in one year (at 12,000-miles per year) that would be $1,464. So it would take over 14 years i.e; 14 x $1,464 = $20,496,

(Plus the 6k I paid for my corolla). For a total of = $26,496. So an Electric car will TAKE 14 + Years (minis the cost of charging it) to match a Gas car like Corolla. KEEP YOUR GAS Guzzling COROLLA!

  • Fuck you Ronnie!

  • Who's payroll is this guys on. These cars all run on oil. Sh**

  • Gotta see!

    Donkey News Team

  • I'm painting my car lettuce green.... is that green enough?!!?!??!?

  • green car?????

the only real green people i know about is the Amish. All these other c@#kS#$%ers are just posers. Aholes driving around in their so called hybrid cars that still use gas. Youer not green m#$%er effers!!!!!!!

  • Nice vid, Favourit!

Please check our youtube channel to discuss anything that has to do with environmental friendly driving !

  • The Prius and it's Hybrid Synergy Drive has lead the way and that's common knowledge by now. The Fusion's hybrid system is licensed by by, and a direct copy of the Toyota design. It also has a base price of 28k vs. Prius at 23k, and it makes the list? With the number of Prius'salready sold and it's affordability, leaving it out only spells one thing: propaganda.

  • No toyota hybrids lol this is laughable

    No tesla car?

wow this is a crazy show

  • BMW 330, a clean car. Don't make me laugh.

Don't you think a 318 will be more clean.

Americans have NO idea what clean means.

If you come from gas guzzling cars any other thing will be more clean ofcourse.

The only clean car is a car on electricity that is charged by wind or solar.

  • its the 335 d and who wants full electricity the greatness about this magazine is that its great cars which are cleaner for the enviornment without sacrificing the power that keeps it as a car

  • you don't know anything about car don't you?

the 330 is diesel, and it dont rev much, if you take the 318 with the 4 cyl gas engine will rev a lot more to do like the diesel.

  • @rikkiesix

First think it was a damn 335d , what isen't made for hybrid.

Comoon take the 116d or the 118d , it's the cleanest bmw u can buy.Still this BMW has got 2 turbos with it!

And like i said it's not clean at all :P!

Sure it smoke those 4 other cars , but since it's a (Green car)test it's not important.

But my choice would be 335d , beacause in handels better, more luxury and the best of all is the quality.

Sorry for my bad english :)

  • @rikkiesix he said 335d (D stand for diesel) ;)

  • @rikkiesix You get it all when you see that they tested Q7 V12 TDI as a green car.

  • @rikkiesix Or plug-in Vehicle with Lithium-Ion Battery. Although, if the Plug-in Vehicle will only work if we have more Environmentally-Friendly Infrastructure and this means more Solar Fields, Wind Turbines and Underwater Turbines.

  • Ok where is the Toyota Prius????

    where is the Honda FIT????

thies are all Sedans not Compacts no mid cars and no Economic Models this is BS

you are not reviewing you are selling cars that get between 35-45MPG and not the ones that get 50 or Better

  • HAHAHAH yeah the smart car isn't compact hahah

  • Go ford

  • I agree with Nigeeezy. Pure electric cars are the way of the future. These big car companies are just stalling with the hybrids... There are virtually no moving parts on pure electrics which means little maintenance. Car companies make a large portion of their income from maintaining our vehicles. It goes deeper than that, watch the film "Who Killed the Electric Car" to learn more.

  • I almost forgot, it takes more energy to make hydrogen than it does for you and I just to put gasoline in our cars. You know what that means, more pollution.

  • I'm sorry to imform you rumesh. but hydrogen is not the way to go. Why? First, we don't have the technology to get hydrogen from water, we have to get it from a fossil fuel. That means we will be stuck with a fuel that's going to run out and $100,000 dollar cars, will not sell very well. Second, 1 trillion dollars for the refueling structures is too expensive. EV / hybrids will be the future. the electrical grid already exists.

  • Downside of electric is the insane amount of recharge time a battery need.

  • Electric cars arent necessarily green, you have to keep in mind where the electricity comes from.

  • The same goes even more importantly for diesel and gasoline.

  • Exactly...personally I think hydrogen fuel cells are the way to go.

  • but it's much easier to get clean energy from renewable sources than it is to somehow green up internal combustion engine cars

  • Suck my cock fat white beareded man.

  • LOL!!!

  • Wow that's absouletly just a fail. what about the Tesla Roadster from Tesla. Fully battery powered. That's a green machine!

  • lets go smart for two

  • are you damn serious??? ever heard of the Tesla??... the Scorpion of Ronn Motor's Company.. or even the Peugeot's RC HYmotion4??? those are even more green than the crappy top 5 green cars you viewed!! and how the hell did a Ford and a Volkswagon made the top 5?? the the cars I listed earlier are not only greener.. but hotter in their design too!! watch planet green{futurecar(a show) more!! maybe you'll learn the characteristics of an excellent green car more from there.. !!!

  • got a dealership near you? where you gonna fix it?right now they are niche cars, really cool but not yet practical or affordable, hopefully soon,.

and the compressed air car is super cool but wont pass north American regulations, political bs i think but for now these are what we have,.

There a lot of fuel efficient cars in Europe but they have not been able to sell em here, hopefully smart changed that, its coming guys, fiat 500:) mini:)polo?:Ppressure your mp or congressman if it means that much!

  • I passed out watching this boring ass shit and woke up three days later, woozie after having to listen to this guys monotone voice.

  • the smrt for2 is not a green car it sounds like a baby wrx but it gets 50mpg i should know because i have one

  • this blows

  • that fat asshole needs to learn how to speak... I swear to God the way he was studdering he must have been reading it as he went along... The Fusion is the only green car there hands down

  • these aren't green at all, they're just more efficient!!!!

    what a joke...

  • dude... theres the air compressed car, and the hydrogen car, and bothdon't pollute.

  • Shut the fuck up you faggot!

  • This is bullshit. What kind of cockamamie nonsense is this?

  • they werent green!!!!

  • let's just remember, all these cars have, if they do, a very primitive basic hybrid unit...

  • This doesn't make a bit of sense. The Civic Hybrid, the new Insight, and the Prius are all much greener, with better fuel efficiency and much lower emissions than any of these. I'm sure these are fun cars to drive, but what does that have to do with "green"?

  • The Tesla Roadster is available for sale in 2009 and you've left it off your list.

That kinda kills your credibility as the GreenCar advocate, don't ya think?

  • That was a surprising list.

I made a video called "One World" which is inspirational if your interested.

Also check out my original poem "Hade's Pomegranate" and tell em what you think!

Just trying to make a difference...

  • It is suspicious that there is not one Japanese car in this list. Prius may not be number one, but why is it not on the list?

  • None of those cars are green!

  • What was the song you used in the background? I really liked it. I kept watching it because I wanted to keep listening to the song.

  • the vw is easily the best and cheapest car outta that list for most people.......dont buy a hybrid people the batteries and new technologies are expensive and only match what certain cars mpg's have been for years. plus the batteries are super super toxic for the enviroment....do you really want that in your landfills?

omg the sierra club can kiss my axle

  • The Toyota Prius Hybrid gets 44 mpg. Why on earth is it not on the list? The cars mentioned hear don't even get that high.

  • yeah wtf??

  • actually the new prius of 2010 gets 55mpg and its cheaper then the last model

think because the Prius is #1 and there realy no point to bring them up all the time when people talk about green cars, they want to share the spot light that are in the prius' shadow all the time

  • Because they not interested in helping toyota right now, america needs to sell americans cars. raw deal

  • I agree, but it's what the consumers say. tthe american car manufactors should have started making hybrids before the Japanese. I know GM were making alot of them, but they stopped because they thought it was to much money. We should have known better.

  • Funny how most of the "American" cars are made in Mexico.

  • ocean future society,,,wtf is that,,,,,,,im tired of all these society, institutions, we dont need them to live......

  • fuk all this green car stuff, did you know global warming and cooling has been going on for hundreds of thousands of years,,,,are you working for al gore.....we do not need green cars,,,,

  • LOL

    cleaner hair?

    ahahaha

  • diesel cars are the best))))

  • Why wasn't the "AIR CAR" voted as top choice with ZERO EMISSIONS? Search for "Air Car" (in quotes) on google to read about it at Popular Mechanics. Green IS clean!

  • Volkswagens are the best cars in the world!

Much of the worlds car technology has been taken from the very inventive German main 3 car companies.

  • Ford Fusion DA BOMB! go Ford!

  • smart car

  • VW Polo Bluemotion.

  • I have NO problem with anyone who wants to drive a hybrid, just get out of my face if I choose NOT to drive one!

  • Then why did you even bother to watch this video? Im fine with you not wanting it, but doesnt that make watching this video a waste of time?

  • How can I know what the clip is about without watching it? As I said the first go round, I have no problem with anyone who wants a hybrid. Just don't lecture me if I drive a Pick-up! Nobodies Dan business what I drive!

  • What aboy the 308 HDI??? which runs 32km/liter on diesel

  • Heh, "Volkswogen".

  • SATURN! wtf!

  • forgive me for sayng this but they all suck!, the vw 1L is 10x better than any of these, and as a hybrid with solar panels it'd be unbeatable

  • Where is Honda FCX? 2009 World Green Car

  • fcx is decades away from necessary infrastructure... immediate solution is plug-ins or plug-in hybrid

  • Will any of these pull a horse trailer??? Junk.

  • BS BS BS BS BS

  • ok my ass

    nissan altima 2009

owns at least 3 of those cars

  • You are right... i wish I had it, My co-worker bought it and loves it. Only problem is no one knows about it because its barely reaching all the states. When it does it should kick butt. It's way better than the Prius and the new Honda insight

  • US bias. u know your ford and saturn SUX!. Asshle

  • this is total BS!! no japanese cars?! impossible.

  • Where are the japan cars?

    Toyota?!?! Honda?!?!

They have currently the best green cars!

  • 1. Open your mouth

    2. Put one of your fingers inside

    3. Lick it

    4. Pull it out when it is soak and wet

    5. Stick it in your ass

    6. Pull it out and smell it

    7. Let all your friends smell the shit the first came out of your mouth and then went to your ass

  • dont do it, it kills you

  • eww

  • who the fuck can afford this shit?

  • you

  • with this economy.......no one that's lower class/poverty

  • diesel is good, and petrol is also nice but electric?? come on i will only get on a electrice car if its hydrogen powered...

  • You can keep your electric cars and leave the petrol ones for us real men, lol.

  • Your penis doesn't work without hydrocarbons?

  • Grow up.

  • for now the best green car is Honda Clarity

  • if all you "green" enthusiastes are so apossed to cars why not hut the fuck up and just buy a horse 0g/km CO2

  • I agree about winter statment ,but all you gas heads can have your trucks. We will see how fast you run when the price of gas goes up? I would love to test a green car up north

  • show me an Electric car in an Winter storm in Colorado, and i will take my Gas Guzzling truck any day.. all you green monkey are fools..

  • The Bin Laden family loves your ass, s69nme.

  • i will take any muscle car any day.. i love to pollute and to hell with Green.. what a scam.

  • No RX 400h?

  • Honda Insight?

  • Carroll Shelby is a dolt.

  • Jay Leno has given voice to few Green car projects Like the Telsa , Progressive Automotive X Prize ( They lead the pack )

yet Leno owns the biggest fuel guzzlers including a custom hot rod powered by the engine from an M5 Tank .... Can anyone say 2-3 MPG ?

  • Well of course. Everyone ELSE other than the rich has to drive these underpowered boring POS.

  • buying used cars will always be better than a brand new hybrid.

  • sorry I like real cars. Like my truck and corvette. Bot get less than 14mpg btw.

  • as long its a used card

  • bought them both new. Couple years ago though. Wanted the plant to pollute more to custom build mine.

  • you also wanted my giant cock in your anus, so that when i pulled out your gaping asshole crated more polution, your awesome.

  • fuck this bullshit all these cars are ugly ill get a hummer

  • hummers are ugly, i agree its bullshit tho. A green car is a used card with good fuel efficiency, thats it.

  • if this was a vid for big, gas-guzzling pick-ups and off-roaders, do you think the guy would be a big burly man's man with a deep rumbling voice? or am i just being paranoid. because as we know, if we don't give oil barons tons of cash, we're gay.

  • how about the hydrogen fuel cell vehicles or even hydrogen internal combustion engines.

  • Without providing hard data- numbers!- you guys are wasting the time of all the viewers. Unfreakinbelievable.

  • Hybrids are moronic - And that is the only reason the US FED Gov allows them

Having two separate engines, they will never compare to the battery cars that were destroyed by the US Gov in the 90s

  • You have a point, but hybrids represent a transitional vehicle which can use fossil fuel efficiently before alternative fuel technology and infrastructure is being developed. Those 1990s electric cars were actually highly energy inefficient, and were effectively 4 times more polluting than petrol, as the energy had to come from fossil fuels, then be turned into electricity at a power station, then be stored as charge, losing efficiency at every step.

  • If the electric car was inefficient, then the hybrid is all the more so - Twice as heavy with two engines; and no space for luggage

However, electricity can be generated from wind, water, ocean current, waves, sunlight - Not just coal

If the US Gov wasn't protecting Exxon, there would have been much more development in those arenas

  • This video is WORTHLESS without some numbers on efficiency.

"these are green" is pretty damned pointless

  • The smart car is so cute :-)

  • Tesla is great if you have $50k + to spend on a car. The BMW is the only one in the five that has a asking price over $30k. It would be more beneficial for larger company with more capital to buy Tesla's battery technology to accelerate its production and use, cutting costs. Don't forget most Tesla's will be running on power from coal-burning power plants.

  • Cost-efficiency is what makes Tesla such a good deal. That considered, you'll be spending a lot more in the BMW in the long run, not to mention the fact that hybrid car is no "green" alternative. It's just a procrastination led by the industry. No one will buy Tesla's battery tech. What must be done is to question and boycott the auto industry's hold of the battery patents. Yes, Mercedes and others hold the patents for any battery development. Are you really comparing eletric X oil?

  • THIS IS PREPOSTEROUS, RIDICULOUS AND COMPLETELY PRO-INDUSTRY! None of these cars can be even considered "green", for they're all hybrids. It is PATHETIC that the Tesla Roadster (and the soon-to-be-released Model S) are not on the top of that list. This jerk, this asshole is only advertising for the oil-burning vehicles industry. What an imbecil.

  • I own the 2009 Jetta TDI. I get 44 mpg, back and forth to work. My drive is 23 miles in duration and is not open highway. I get 55 mpg on the open road. You really need to relax and understand nothing happens overnight, except in your world, possibly. The Jetta is a great car and I do not regret buying the other so called "electric cars", even a little bit. So relax, things will get turned around eventually.

  • Ok, ok, I'll relax. I understand your point and stuff. Still, where's the Tesla? I mean, a guy can't just make a video about the "Top 5 Green Cars" and leave Tesla out. It's BS. Sorry, but it is.

  • I couldn't agree more. We really need to spread the word and generate revenue for the Tesla company which is on the brink of going out of business. The Tesla Roadster should definately be on this list.

  • whoa there. the bmw 335d and vw jetta tdi are definitely not hybrids, and as I've researched quickly in the past five minutes (correct me if i'm wrong), the smart fortwo is not yet either.

also proindustry is an UNBELIEVABLY broad term to the point of watering down your comment to, well, water. if you buy anything at all, you are pro-industry because virtually everything available to buy is shipped or trucked via oil burning vehicles.

i'm not against the point you make, but it's not made well.

  • Dude, we have what? 500 characters to type in here? Sorry, I couldn't narrow down my definition, but I think the meaning was sort of implied, right? If not, then of course I meant the automobile industry, the same one that killed the electric car decades ago. The same one who fools every single eco-plastic-minded person who buys the facade of "green initiative". Wake up! These guys (that industry) will NEVER abolish oil, as long as there is oil to be drilled in the world. Mark my words.

  • We should be using petroleum for reusable plastics, not burning it for fuel. You are right about people not getting rid of oil as a fuel, and it is a terrible mistake we are making.

  • Agreed. Actually, I don't remember exactly when I saw it, but there's also an alternative for the plastics in sugarcane. Someone engineered its particles to replace polymers, here in Brazil. But, as happens with all technologies developed in Brazil, I think that was bought by some high profile corporation, too, 'cause we never heard anything about it since then.

  • Yes, you're spot on, there are a number of plastics which can be synthesized from cane sugar. If you haven't heard about them, it is because these things are of more interest to industry than the media. There was a process discovered in Australia too. Sadly, none of these plastics is as good as petroleum based plastics. My family is actually involved fairly deeply in the plastics recycling technology industry, there is a lot going on in it atm.

  • 5.4L V8 for the win!

  • fuck the planet MORE POWER

  • the old kewet el jet is better than all those combined

  • haha ha. here in europe we have way better eko-frendly cars than the US.

  • he is douche!

  • Classifying or labeling the list of petrol based or 'hybrid'-petrol based autos here as "GreenCar" is a joke and a misnomer.

Solar, electric or air compressed driven autos is the only GreenCar's that should be classified as such.

Good old Madison Street with their smoke, mirrors, and slight of hand.

  • i am currently training to be a technician and the green cars are still based on regular cars the bmw and vw is just a diesel with a new direct injection design this allows it to inject slightly later than a regular diesel engine and creates better combustion. the hybrids are another story they are obviously 2 engines in one. however they use batterys which are different and the braking system doubles as using the friction to stop the brakes is converted into recharging the battery not that diff

  • That's nice, there are green cars. However there seems to be an issue that few seem to grasp: support infrastructure for these new types of cars.

From the refueling to maintenance to training technicians to work on these new technologies - who's doing that part? After all what use is a green car if you can't find anyone who can fix it or any

Then the entire support infrastructure notion hit me....

  • The illusion is that buying a hybrid with great mpg will save you money. This is not true. Take 2 toyota cars for example.

    Assuming gas @ 2.00 $ per gallon.

I drive around 17,000 miles per year, which is pretty close to the average.

A Prius gets 45 mpg, while the Corolla gets 35 mpg

That means an average person would save 217.00 per year in gas money by owning a Prius.

Sounds like a great deal! But wait there's a catch.

  • The base price of a Prius is 21,610 $

The base price of a Corolla is 14,352 $

The Prius is 7,258 dollars more expensive even though it's about the same size and quality as the Corolla.

So the question is: How long will it take for the Prius's gas savings to make up for the price difference?

    Answer: 33.4 years

Do you think you'll own your Prius for that long?

Having a hybrid might make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside, but it certainly won't save you money.

  • I liked my 1999 Ford CVPI. 25MPG at $2500.

Very nice riding car with good acceleration. It was running so good for 122k miles before I busted it.

Time to find an old Dodge truck with a Cummins for maybe $5-6000. 20MPG (I've heard of 24+ with upgraded parts) and I can make biodiesel at home for $1/gal. Clean burning vehicle perfect for hauling and four wheeling.

  • I think we should also note that building the prius batteries puts a lot of pollution out already, Since its made of nickel and smelted at the "Superstack"

That smelted nickel then has to travel (via container ship) to Europe to be refined, then to China to be made into "nickel foam," then to Japan for assembly, and finally to the United States. All this shipment for each tiny step in the production process costs a great deal, both in dollars and in pollution.

  • come on people buy Corvettes and Hummers..lets waste gas and kill polar bears FUCK YOU HIPPIE!

  • its funny how people think diesel is better than petrol but deep inside they know that if you get two cars of the same make and engines just different in fuel the petrol car will always be faster but i do agree that you can save a lot more money with a diesel car.

  • "its funny how people think diesel is better than petrol but deep inside they know that if you get two cars of the same make and engines just different in fuel the petrol car will always be faster"

The Jeep liberty with the 2.8 turbodiesel was slightly quicker accelerating than the gas engine of the same displacement.

  • lol i was reading this comment and it sounded at first like I met someone that understands but then it started to sound to familiar cause i didnt notice the quotations.

I am looking to buy a diesel car and i love them cause they are cheaper to run but other than that it would always be a petrol and for gods sake when are they ever going to invent a quiet diesel engine

  • I can't understand how anybody would want a quiet engine. I love a set of cylinders with something to say lol.

But I have a old liking for older sports cars and trucks that ran with a rumble or humming of some sort. If I could only own 2 vehicles it would be a 1967 Pontiac GTO and a 1993 Dodge truck with the Cummins turbodiesel.

  • no but you know what i mean you get the loud that means power and then theres the diesel loud lol which you can hear right from the engine like a rattling noise not like the one that comes out of the exhaust. but yea you got good taste in cars

  • shut the fuck up asshole

  • Ford Escape Hybrid is Toyota Prius technology

  • HAHA FUCK YOU HYBRIDS!!! Diesel all the way!!!

  • Fantastic! 100 years after the first automobile was created and good news! We're STILL driving GAS-POWERED cars!

No solar, fully electric, hydrogen, or water-powered (electrolysis) cars.

We can fit 8,000,000 songs in a tiny iPod, but we humans still can't figure out how to make a good electric motor. But it least there's not conspiracies or anything.

  • Theres a totally different idea behind it, programs we can make to do anything, but this is the laws of physics we're talking about here, solar won't work it can only run in the day, even with a battery how much power can you honestly get? Fully electric is nice but still bad for the environment to manufacture, to create hydrogen causes a lot of pollution too unfortunately. Just because it burns clean doesn't mean its clean to manufacture.

  • None of these cars are really "green" there just slightly greener than the other fossil burners, which is sad. Whats the reduction of hydrocarbons on any of these? What about the manufacturing impact?

Maybe GM wouldn't be at congress begging for cash if they produced a true green car and didn't axe the EV-1 or got off there asses and release the volt (and not the bullshit hybrid version...)

  • The Chevy tahoe was a "low emission vehicle" since 2000. The 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix was an "ultra low emission vehicle".

Gm has been making plenty of cars that were much cleaner running than the ones they replaced.

I don't see where you get off saying

"Maybe GM wouldn't be at congress begging for cash if they produced a true green car"

Their whole line up is as green as any conventional car that Toyota has made, for example.

  • Low emission and Ultra low emission...

you really believe that? Whats a tahoe weigh?

I don't give a shit about toyota either jackass, if you love gm and what to keep your job there you raise the cash for them.

What I meant was if they offered a REAL "green" car - AKA electric. and stop fucking around they'd have something people might actual want.

BTW dipshit you forgot to mention they had a NO fucking emission car called the EV-1 in 1996(?) they killed... FUCK YOU and FUCK GM

  • "Low emission and Ultra low emission...

you really believe that? Whats a tahoe weigh?"

Those were labels given by the EPA. Weight is irrelevant. Emissions are determined by the amount of pollutants that leave the exhaust.

The EV-1 was cut because it wasn't selling well.

Generally speaking an all electric vehicle has a range of less than 100 miles. That isn't very appealing to people who like to travel on the road and use their car for more than just trips to the grocery store.

  • the ev1 was cut because it needed no service parts therefore no profits for GM. don't give this bs excuse cause Tesla cant makes enough cars for the demand and GM is broke. so kiss my ass. put ev1 on the market andsee what happens...

  • Batteries don't last forever, in case you didn't know. Electric motors for the power windows will go out. The A/C compressor will go out. Off the top of my head I came up with 3 parts that WILL need to be replaced down the road.

The Tesla costs $80,000. There are celebrities that are in line for it, but it isn't really a mainstream car.

If I have a list of 10 people to buy knives from me and I only produce 3 per month, then the demand will be too high. Get it?

    How old are you?

  • OutdoorsBlackMan--I can tell by all of your arguments that you haven't done any research into the subject of electric cars....You are merely repeating the same stale crap that you hear from ignorant or biased people....If you are really interested in learning the truth, then google "EV1" or anything reguarding electric cars...You will be surprised when you learn the truth.

  • You believe everything you read on the internet?

Have you ever owned a car for 5 years or more?

  • OutdoorsBlackMan--(1)The internet is simply a starting point (Have you ever heard of a library?)..You are obviously unwilling to search ANYWHERE for information (the arrogance of your youth)..At this rate you will never learn anything...You should take some college courses on science, electricity and auto mechanics....(2)Yes, in fact, I've owned most of my cars well over 5 years and routinely put over 100k miles on them (I ran one up to 264k miles before junking it).....Now go, research, learn!
