  • who the hell can afford a NEW car anyway.......They get you to work harder to pay for it ,which in turn the Company you work for makes more money and YOU pay more taxes, which gives the Government more money and the Banks or Loan Companies make more money off the INTEREST you pay on that F**king new car!...Who wins?you don`t.

  • @jeepers2655 agreed 100%

  • the Government was acting like the Gameshow host on the Price is Right. they want to give away nice stuff, they want to give away spanking new cars and ect if you win, the only way you win on this is you qualify not guesing the price.

  • at least the american version had a limit on how old a car could be in this saving classics

all it says for the canadian version is 94 and older

  • @norcoatomik here in ns its 95 or older, they call it retire your ride

  • I think the program was crap. I work in a automotive recycling yard in NC and see it first hand. You take cars off the road that we could be selling parts too. 95% of clunkers could have made low income households nice rides but no we are forced to crush them.

  • goverment just wants the lil guy to stop polluting altogether so big buisness can

  • there are cars that should have never been distroyed that could have ran even longer for someone else who cant aford a payment

  • screw new cars buy $500 ones

  • i selectively buy $500 cars, if they last 6 months i got my money back and then some, or i could make the same in a monthly payment, and have a junky new car, that will rust out around here in under 10 years

  • I traded in my failing V8 1994 Lincoln Town Car for a Toyota Corolla that was made in the US. The trade off? I got more money than I ever would have for it. The salesman got a cut, the factory assemblymen of the car got a cut (jobs). The Japanese corporate fat cats got a bigger cut. The insurance company is getting a cut (higher premium). The bank that gave me the financed loan is getting a cut for the next 5 years.

  • you may think you got a cut, but its YOUR tax money that funded this program, I never heard b4 that sales people got any extra doing the program, the factory worker wouldve been there regardless so his isnt a cut he didnt get any extra, im sure the Japanese fat cats got a the biggest cut

  • I don't know about factory workers still having a job if consumers don't buy cars. American car manufacturers are losing more & more jobs by the year, a supply & demand to keep productivity going is always necessary. When I say that sales people were getting a "cut" was because of the commission they earned for every car they sold. The sales tax I paid for the car goes straight back to the government so that cuts any losses by almost half.

  • I agree on your points completely, especially the recycleing idea. Really hope this program never comes back, waste of good usable cars.

    Great video.

  • I love all your points.

"The old cars...they sold, for one."

Also, good points about recycling and reusing...and destroying a car "properly"!

It's a VERY bad program for the environment. Your instincts are right-on.

  • I'm glad you agree:)

  • "How is this good for the environment?"

    Good question.

I think the program should have been seen for what it is: To help the failing American auto makers.

I have known people who benefited from this program, my friend bought a new van, traded in his old one.

I wonder if the government hopes to make money off the scrap? Or maybe sell the cars to other countries for scrap?

  • i think its just flushin away tax dollars

  • i think the whole government needs to be "traded in"

  • otay you must be retard just shutup they are getting the bad gas mpg cars off the road so they trade them in for ones that get better mpg So fuck you Go to hell

  • lol im glad you enjoyed my video, thanx for watching and commenting, I'm glad you think this is a good thing little boy

  • Fuck asshole your the puss crying about cfc of youtube

  • lol ok lil boy, I hope you enjoy your life as a corporate slaveyour almost there already, btw Mr is for men not lil boys grow up

  • You aren't a "puss" for speaking your mind. You are a MAN who isn't afraid to speak up. That takes courage and conviction! (not to mention effort)

  • no really you must be a total dumb ass....

  • Someone needs to tell you.. so I will...

    YOUR RETARDED!

  • your the one who need to get a life no what i am done you are a fucking retard i am done fuck and go to hell pussy

  • i think i hear a baby crying

  • PT2, its just sad to see perfectly good vehicles get destroyed. theres no need for that. and its stupiud that u can resell, them, i mean come on , some one will buy it. some of them i saw today i would buy but u cant, but anyways good video, the stupid goverment should spend the money on something we need, cause when this money rusn out for the clunkers were back to the grind again..

  • yeah just another bailout scheme so the big rich companies can get that ivory back scratcher

  • i agree, and MOST of the cars and truck people bring in for this are NICE, it really makes me mad to see the same truck as mine get fucked up. they coudl try to sell them and get more money if they were smart. bt i will NEVER buy a new car, i love my 1994 cause its easy to work on, and rusn good, plus 16 MPG is not bad at all. today u get recalls and u have to take the whole dam thing apart to fix one simple thing, but this program is a waste of our money, they coudl do something better,

  • yea even old cars can be modified so they produce better emmissions, i wish i could throw around thier money like that

  • If they wanted to improve emissions, they'd figure out a way to get rid of the worst offending vehicles. A lot of these vehicles are newer, so they may not pollute as much. A better program would be something more along the lines of what you are talking about: paying people or better yet, giving them generous tax breaks, to fix up their older car so that they don't pollute as much. It's not wasteful and it's good for the environment. But they don't really care about the environment.

  • I agree with you about older vehicles being better. I miss my 85 GMC....It had a rebuilt 305 with a holley carb and edelbrock performer intake. It was far easier to work on. When you can get under the hood and sit on the fender to work on the engine now thats a vehicle :)

  • lol yeah gotta love those old things they always left plenty o room too werk on em

  • we need an organized recall effort to clean the trash out of the white house! What is our country coming too? this administration is going to ruin our country and take away our constitutional freedoms!!

  • is going to?? i think in many ways they already have taken away many rights and freedoms

  • Yes!

  • it could be a "cash for clunkers" for the people, clunkers being the politicians that are TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION.

  • there ya go, lets start a revolution, this form of government is far outdated and corrupted

  • yeah we cannot expect things to change until that happens. this is a handout to the automakers but an attack on the poor too, who need those cars.

  • Thing is, people now a days are lazy and don't maintain their car so it breaks down. Theres a thing called scheduled maintenance, how many people do you think actually follow that.

  • thats true, but new cars are inferior in alot of ways, thinner metal, cheaper wireing, and a huge amount of over abundant electronics that can stop the vehicle from working or be expensive as hell to replace, my uncle bought a new malibu off the lot last year less than 30 000km later NO ABUSE and less than 7 months the head gasket went

  • i have a 89 camaro and a 91 cavalier, you are completely correct. both my cars are southern vehicles. you can work on older vehicles yourself. i agree this is a collosial waste. im am ashamed of my country right now. i saw them destroy a 2003 blazer that was nearly new.

  • yeah big buisness always takes the cake

  • i agree, msotly all the vehicles were nice, only a few i saw were not, i mena a 2003 blazer, that coudl be in the used lot, that just makes me mad. it such a waste, and the people buying the new cars are stupid

  • 150% true.

  • i wonder if theyd pay that for my scrap cars?lol

  • I wonder. How bad are they?

  • look up my grown in volvo or junk jetta videos

  • Will do.

  • I agre 100%%%

  • worst part is supposedly the goverment is paying the "cash" for the scrapped cars, hard earned tax dollars at work yet again

  • In the US, we are running a huge deficit, so it's all borrowed money as well.

I'm sorry, but if someone borrows money to give someone else money to buy a new car by buying up their old car at a set value regardless of market value, that person is a FOOL. It's all the worse when foolishness becomes government policy.

Is there any talk of doing this stupid program in Canada?

You're a good man for speaking out about this.

  • We had this in Canada but the rebate was less than half of the US program.....Being Canada is in the rust belt, it was a much more conservative offering for a majority of rusted out heaps. In the US however, many of the cars I seen, especially from the south & rust-free would have been considered gold on any used car lot and fetched good money here

  • lol yeah thats the way cars are ment to be killed by crazy hillbillys and rednecks

  • fuck cash for clunkers, and yea in b.c ill kill your cars for you.!!!!!!!
