Social Work was created after the Great Depression as a band aid project to fill in the gaps where psychiatrists and psychologists were not available. Over the years Social Workers have been giving very little actual training and too much power. I once had a social work student think his course load was a great as mine in psychology until he saw what I had to study. I was shocked someone can have so much power with so little education.

i am double majoring in political science and psychology. I was hoping to attend FSU to attain a a dula degree in Master in Social Work and a J.D law. my question is would I be able to be accepted into the MSW program with a double major in PS and PSY? or do I need to study social science or sociology?

Social work is often a good job opportunity for those of low education, and sub standard intelligence. The work is simple, the pay livable.

But social workers who work for CPS or CYS are encouraged to break up families. To transfer children from foster home to foster home. And to never report foster home abuse.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Which is why so many children die every year at the hands of social workers.

Who are looking out for their "best" interest.

@a999op Wanting to help people, and helping people can be different things though can they not? Though reading what i posted a year ago, I do agree that i wrote that post with a rather narrow mind. However I still believe the social workers system is corrupt. A corrupt system with good intentions still does some good.. but it still also does a lot of harm, especially in the CPS field.

If they would fix the system, checks/balances and remove bad incentives, i'd support it.

Social workers exist to destroy people's live and break up families. The think the system should operate on 'guilty until proven innocent' but as far as they're concerned you're just guilty.

They intimidate and bully innocent parents who think if they cooperate it will show they have nothing to hide but that just means they are playing into the hands of CPS which just is out to separate them from their kids. If you play by the rules they make up they'll streamline you to their desired end.

In contrast, their artificial parents are innocent and deserve special protection. Social workers take care to ensure that adopters are honest, loving and free of mental illnessess, character disorders and impure motives. They know people better than God does.

I never said that social workers should get a gold star every time they save a child, but when all you see on the news is the mistakes and the consequences of those mistakes you are only presented with a one-sided view of whats really happening. To reiterate my previous states CPS does not equal social work. Some social workers work for CPS, most don't, and by saying that all social workers are evil you are disparaging an entire profession, 85% of which have nothing to do with CPS.
