I get pretty lazyass customers who ask me the price of things despite the fact that the price tag is right there. I tell them anyways. Cause that's how customer service works. You make things happen before they even ask so that it's convenient for yourself and for the customer.
Went in to look for a new bag and after asking about what sort of deal i can they responded with their best price. i decided to go shop around to see other stores like Teds (much better service) and i find out that the 'best price' was the fricken online price... the tagged prices on the bags were marked up so heavily compared to the online prices. everybody should just boycott georges for their bad business practices... pathetic...
I called Georges today enquiring about a 60D, and was answered by a pleasant gentleman who gave me a great price on the camera and a lens over the phone without any haggling. I went into the store and said that I'd called earlier and the same gentleman remembered me and helped me out. I got a great deal and he threw in an SD card even though I already said I'd ordered an Eye-Fi. His name was Michael. There's two sides to every story, and the truth is somewhere in the middle.

I used to work at Woolworths and when shopping in a nearby random junk shop the storelady told me that all the people who work at Woolies are rude and don't know proper customer service. I responded by saying that she should watch who she says that to because I work there and have superb customer service not 100% but who has and that she had insulted me. She said without ever being served by me that I was never trained properly and thus a bad checkout chick. And she didn't shop at woolies either

I've worked in Sales befor too, and I've been in the same situation as you too (but not in a Camera store). I worked for three years in sales and went from a simple sales assistant to Manager On Duty within seven months, so it always makes me grin when a bad sales rep gets assy. I make them look like a fool in their shop, infront of their friends and infront of their managers. But if I was in your shoes and he told me to fuck off? I would've gone nuts.
Luckily I don't live in Sydney, but I think I can see what happened. The fact that you used F.U.C.K (Freakin' Ugly Cuss that Kills) when you were talking to Michael probably didn't help. It seems that whenever someone swears, people assume they are legally entitled to swear back at them. Of course Michael could have either had a bad day or short temper. If I were going into a camera store though, I'd avoid swearing and be patient no matter how tempting it would be to get discouraged.

Could not agree miore, i work in my family Industrie time to time. We try our best to help Customers to pick out what they want, we have many high shelves so it takes time and what no, also fridge and freezer. On the odd occasion, we will come across someone who thinks there great customers, one women says "Ow well can i get a discount", i just felt like saying "Well no because you seem like an ass hole", but as i did i brushed it off, and we gave her the discount.
I've worked in retail before, and I know my manager would have fired me if I ever treated a customer like that. Maybe George's is actually a fake business to cover up a money laundering scheme, so they're not actually interested in selling products.

I think you should have gave Mike a chance to get to know the regional manager a little better. I'm sure the ppl at Georges head office would be very interested in what a you-tube reviewer thinks of their sydney stores rep for customer service. as a tourist I would love to go into the store just to tell them I heard of them because "Mike is a Cunt" lol ( there's an adveriizment slogan for ya).

That guy is a total jerk! The worst thing I've ever had happen is an electronics retailer that was selling a camera without a battery or charger. Kind of annoying, but at least they were nice about it. This guy is just being a retarded prick!

Most retail stores here in the States have pretty decent customer service / sales clerks, who are WAY more than happy to help you find the item you want to purchase...and 90% of the time, the price is on the item. Or at least near it.

I've worked in Sales befor too, and I've been in the same situation as you too (but not in a Camera store). I worked for three years in sales and went from a simple sales assistant to Manager On Duty within seven months, so it always makes me grin when a bad sales rep gets assy. I make them look like a fool in their shop, infront of their friends and infront of their managers. But if I was in your shoes and he told me to fuck off? I would've gone nuts.

Luckily I don't live in Sydney, but I think I can see what happened. The fact that you used F.U.C.K (Freakin' Ugly Cuss that Kills) when you were talking to Michael probably didn't help. It seems that whenever someone swears, people assume they are legally entitled to swear back at them. Of course Michael could have either had a bad day or short temper. If I were going into a camera store though, I'd avoid swearing and be patient no matter how tempting it would be to get discouraged.

Could not agree miore, i work in my family Industrie time to time. We try our best to help Customers to pick out what they want, we have many high shelves so it takes time and what no, also fridge and freezer. On the odd occasion, we will come across someone who thinks there great customers, one women says "Ow well can i get a discount", i just felt like saying "Well no because you seem like an ass hole", but as i did i brushed it off, and we gave her the discount.

@Anchupom It wasn't a camera store I worked at (though we did sell cameras) it was a general electronics store, and yes, I spent some time in management positions while I worked in the retail industry.
