i was 13 in '96 when Hundley hit the homerun to beak the record. my friends dad had season tickets and we were at that game. i remember watchin the local news over and over to see the replay. it was great. LETS GO METS!
This was the year where they were up by one game in the WC with five to play, only to precede to lose two to the lowly Expos at Shea and then get swept in one of many disastrous series at Turner against the Braves. We had gotten our unusable playoff tickets that weekend.
Oh yeah, until 1997, they sure were. A lot of bad free agent signings, trades, and prospects that just did not pan out. Can you say Isringhausen, Pulsipher, and Wilson?
wow... @ 4:14 that announcer goes right thru me!! Brings me to the good old Bobby V days and the 90's when baseb all was real!! OMG!!! DAMN BASEBALL IS JUST TOO WATERED DOWN NOW!
Great Video, brought back memories. Loved Todd Hundley, especially when he first broke the catchers record for most homeruns, then javier lopez for the braves beat it out by 2 homeruns a few years later i believe. Anyways, loved the video
its funny how it looks exactly the same for so long, i went to a mets game in september, looked exactly the same, it just shows time, but how some things dont change
Especially with the Yankees return to prominence, winning in 1996, 1998, and 1999. Team of the decade, the most successful franchise in sports history.
Yeah I remember when Todd was the team leader and a fan favorite of the Mets untill Mikey "I can't throw out a 90 year old woman trying to steal 2nd base" Piazza showed up and How fast did the organization boot Todd's ass out of Shea??? Typical Mutts....
Rick Reed pitched into the ninth inning and got the win for the Mets, with Greg McMichael getting the last two outs. The Expo pitchers were Pavano, Batista, and Maddux.
I wonder if the Mets are planning to do what the Giants did at their new ballpark - have an area set aside where fans can peek inside and watch the game for free. It works quite well at AT&T Park.
i was at this game, big hundley fan and i went to his first game back

I'll be a diehard Met fan forever... But I gotta admit, I had a soft-spot for the Expos (Thanks to Gary Carter. :P)...
I miss Montreal's Franchise.

Yes, the subway platform was demolished a few weeks ago. No more free views of the game!

Love the subway platform footage - It'll be sad when the new stadium no longer gives us that unique vantage point
