It's interesting to know that Rotten had a hair cut similar to Younger's but his Dad insisted he get it cut short, so he went out and got a cut and then dyed it green just to piss off his Dad. Later on he comes up with the line, "we don't care about long hair", which inspires a whole generation to go and get a hair cut. Ironically though, he didn't mind long hair at all, he was just trying to spite his Dad.
I was there - truly. I was 17 and in front of the speakers on the other side of the stage from the camera. I can see three people I know. One dead. RIP Peter.
i love radio birdman i am going to start my own religion called birdman we will all pray with radios and little wings whilst radio birdman cranked loud as fuck whos keen
Awesome! Love Birdman, there should be a DVD of them from '77 and '78, all this great footage, Deniz Tek on a level in his heyday like Sonic Smith in his (Sonic's Rendezvous), and this is Deniz's best, wildest guitar song, such wild leads
Not much to say about this song its just amazing, just grabbed the official ringtone for this song at DownloadEveryTone. Com if anyone is interested ***********
No need to look back and wish you were there. I saw these guys last year and they STILL kick ass and take names. I thought Rob was gonna have a heart attack, hell, I thought I was gonna have a heart attack. Tek is even better today than he was then. AMaZing.
I'm near 42,!!!!This is still one of my all time favorites!!!...............If not for Radio Birdman,Hitman,THE SAINTS.......AND you mostly forgot Jimmy and the Boys......such a great reason for hope and leaving every yob party..,what a great thing that even Newcasthole had the best underground bands.................for a little while.............evenj the cutest castinet club
You had to be around in the place and time to understand how radical RB were in Oz in 1976. There a couple of things that annoy me about them, but for machine-gun tightness they were probably the best band in the world at the time (NB, before this, Deniz Tek was seriously considered as Mick Taylor's replacement in The Stones!)
With all due respect, I'm not sure that Deniz Tek was ever considered to be Mick Taylor's replacement (although I could be wrong). Perhaps you're confusing this story with another one? According to their biography, Tek once sold a guitar to Keith Richards in the early 70s when the Stones played Detroit.
As a sidenote, Tek worked at the San Diego Naval Hospital as a surgeon after leaving the band (and becoming a fighter pilot).
Was I ever in a Boston band called TV EYE? No. But I do live in San Diego and found a test pressing of Radios Appear at the swap meet! The guy had no idea who the band was but knew it was a special piece. I couldn't talk him down ... so I shelled out $40 for it. When I photographed the band at their American debut in L.A, I had Younger and Tek sign it. I also stole the sign to their dressing room at the end of the show (hey, no one was there, so it had served its purpose).
if you have seen them live nowadays, they still sound grat, and you don't have to bother with their new album. They sound even more experienced and powerful than in the late 70's
For those of us who never had the chance to see them in the US, their reunion was greatly appreciated. I'm sure they don't have the same energy they did 30 years ago, but I can tell you that the two shows I saw were amazing!
I always thought these guys should have got more recognition. Bought their first release on vinyl and played the crap out of it.
I really liked the way the guitars sound. They kept things sufficiently scratchy but skilled.
This is music to drive way too fast to.
