  • daito I have a question, I want to know where you buy those myoelectric sensors. is it cheap and easy to program? thank you in advance

  • Maybe you'll consider something melodic.

  • woah, you could really scare someone with that thing, "OMG WHERE IS THAT SOUND COMING FROM ARE YOU AN ROBOT?!"

  • Honestly, your noise is pretty boring. It sucks. You should give a listen to 88mm, Stalaggh or Merzbow. The way you make it it's the only interesting thing about your vids. Don't take it personal.

  • increible gracias por subir los viedeos de tus experiencias saludos desde argentina

  • IS those sounds your bones?

  • Imagine Shuffling to with this on and making the sound create a base sound. Then everytime you stomp it would do a base sound. How cool. :O

  • damn!! amazing!!

  • This is why I LOVE Asians!!!!!

    just like myself!

  • this has the potential for a show in vegas. could rig those up all over your body and make a 1 man band or even an orchestra mabye even a laser show combined with music. this set up you have her man could make you more benjamins than you could ever spend

  • dude what if you put on some hardcore ? over 210 bpm :)

  • derp

  • this is brilliant..

  • REALLY cool! Thanks a lot for sharing this! :D

  • Does anyone know if this changes muscle tension straight into sound or he uses some sort of program to change it into sound?

  • u r just making some random noise or what

  • amazing, is it wireless?

    by arduino?

  • Mad Genius.

  • Imagine if video game start using this!

  • i think more 5-10 years they will (or less time)

  • well I think the new natal would be a better thing than this

  • now this is what i call the problem solver for air guitarist . =)

  • you can make a real air guitar with this!!

  • That is the best. How does it feel?

  • Holy crap that is COUGAT!!!

  • Stick these onto some popping dancers,.. would be awesome.

  • @Kaandorpius Would be interesting to see someone use this to control autotune.

  • A new to compose has been discovered.

  • no shit mirabilis! its a myoelectric SENSOR! sensors read and collect. seriously

  • Fact: This video shows music controlled by muscle contraptions, not muscle contraptions controlled by music.

  • wwhhoooooaaatttuuoooaaa....

  • Amazing....

  • I think you guys are getting the electric stimulus mixed up with the myoelectric sensor...

  • @BigCowz So he's controlling it rather than it controlling him? That's pretty cool.

  • @BigCowz No, it just looks like that because of the way he is moving. He is useing his body to control the music. Not the music to control his body.

  • A new Air guitar has been formed. <,<

  • That is quite impressive, and it's from 2006! I'll have to see your other videos.

  • You despicable retarded delinquent. The myoelctrics actually controls the flow of the music. I assume it is a device that detects the distance of frequent signals between 2 hands and alternate the sound accordingly. So, my question is --How do you dance in tune with the beat and not actually doing the same moves WITHOUT alternating the music itself? You don't know what the fuck you are watching dog. Go light up your pipe some more.

  • lol

  • Dear Daito, are you controlling it like a controller?

  • JAPAN IS THE BEST IN THE WORLD

    GREAT

  • future:

Imagine going to a club with your commercialized myoelectrics in your pocket. place them on your body than sync wireless into the clubs music. You have everyone in the club actually dancing in tune with the beat but not actually doing the same moves.

I would love to see that!

  • can you see the potential in this?!

imagine programing these things so you can play that guitar without lessons.

entire bands would require no skill. just how to use a program!

  • erm they would have to move the ir arms so that the right sounds come out... the thing is you wouldnt need instruments playing air guitar would make sounds ^^

  • i thought it was stimulating the nerves

  • the face experiment does... this one picks up the information from the nerves so that specific movements make specific sounds

  • 最高に面白い。やってみたいなぁ/

    いつかヨーロッパにプレフォーマンスしにこないんですかね?いつでもベルギーへようこそ!

    jonathan

  • やってみたいw

  • If you had small ones you could attach to your fingers, you could play a whole orchestra.

  • You need to find someway you can hook some bass synths/sound to your feet or legs, then it would be kickass.

  • @Crazyeyes91 Seriously. I'd love to have some of these sensors for completely virtual air drums =)

  • why isn't he and bjork making albums together???

  • you're fucking brain is fake. so it can't realize whats real or not you fucking spam

  • are you having it read your arm impulses or are you still makin your body react to the computers?

  • WOW Awesome stuff, your idea of using electric impulses could be used in too many different ways!

check that u r using it while there is no electrical storm cause if u are "plugged" when a lightning falls.. XD

When u progamme it, is it like if u where programming a servo?how many volts and amperes do u use?

  • That looks really fun!

  • I hope I get to see you perform with this some day. It's fantastic as it is, but with props it would be even more fantastic.

It gives me a futuristic cyberpunk feel, like I'm watching entertainment from Bladerunner.

  • dude you could sell your idea to Playstation or Nintendo...i can already see the next level video games played with wires attached to you for movements and sounds...coolness

  • kinda like a wii but better :)

  • do you shave your arms?

  • can you attach just sounds and modulations, or can you attach some kind of commands, so you can control your computer with your muscles?

    This is just, a-m-a-z-i-n-g.

  • btw did u attatch this to some sort of granuliser or osc. ? its realy cool how u strech your sounds with the other arm

  • yeah this is amazing man, u could make an awesome live show with that!

  • Amazing. I see a lot of possibilities with this technique. Electronic music artist now can get loose from their laptops and represent the music with their bodymovements.

I geuss dancing becomes a whole new experience if you are making the sounds with movements in stead of just moving to music.

  • innovation for Djs

  • amazing.

  • fuck incredibble!!!!!! congraulations!

  • Thank you very much for comments.

I use muscle potential of my hands with myoelectric sensors.

This means that the sensor detects how much tension is in the muscle.

I convert the data to sounds.

It is like making commands for a video game like Street Fighter II.

    Thanks,

    Daito Manabe

  • I wish we could have seen you perform without the big coat on! I know it keeps the mystery, but I would have liked to have seen all the sensors at once! Imagine making music with the sensors exposed...under a black light! RAD!

  • You're amazing!!! Does this stuff make your muscles sore???

  • really cool and interesting.

  • Please excuse thise "Minge" Americans really should eradicate retards that make this great contry look stupid

  • THISE LOLOLOLLOLO

  • u forgot country

  • i stopped reading after thise lol

  • Now being controllable is another thing altogether.

  • So it seems as he tightens up his arms, it controls the amount of amplitude in the midi controller, it's probably controlling a sequencer in tempo and amplitude, like say certain parts of the muscle control certain tracks amplitudes, and moving the arm in a certain way increases or decreases the tempo.. This would be completely possible..

  • Why do people think it's fake.. It seems like he's using electric impulses from the arms to control a midi device..

  • He should attach it to his ass and take a shit.

  • no its just Japanese technology is so advanced that your tiny little mind can handle what is actually going on so the only way of explaining it in your head is to say its fake so your the moron that's so STUPID that it isn't funny. Maybe try looking up myoelectric sensors first before calling this fake

  • omg that is cooooollllll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • one of the coolest things i've seen in a while. Daito, did you have to program certain muscle spasms into particular notes? or is it just plug in and go?

  • I think he's controlling a sequencer, kinda like using his muscles to conduct a song. It seems however his right hand was doing something extra..

  • I believe it functions only on the amplified electrical impulses detected from his muscles movement, thus making it impossible to really determine one spasm from another. This does, however, leave the ability to detect ANY muscle movement fully in tact, however..

How he differentiated things I am not sure - possibly detecting HOW much tension is in the muscle?

  • @JCH321 The arm contains many different muscle groups. You just have to map each myoelectric sensor to each discrete muscle group.

  • i dont get it

  • Think about all posibilities what you could do with instruments like that. Lots of sensors and more sound and training... would be an epic musical :D

  • so cool!

  • that was absolutely amazing!!

  • muscle tension meats music, interesting, develope it more!!!

  • This is amazing! How exactly does the music get played? What controls volume and pitch of the sound? Muscle tension?

  • daito, Are you making the music? or is the music making you.

  • That is honestly the coolest thing i've ever seen.

  • that is so cool!

the whole body is just singing when we move, he just gave it a voice.

  • awesome...is this safe?

  • so cool!!!!! AMAZING!

  • lmao o the possibiltiessss

  • Watch this guy is for real, or is pretending to make this electric stuff- This dudes a GENIUS!!

And I wunna try this sssoooo bad D:

I've always wanted things to go into the direction of "interaction" for movies, gaming and such. Think of taking a game like World of Warcraft, and have this sort of thing hooked up, and a head set for virtual veiw, that would be AMAZING!

  • i was JUST thinking that

  • I'de love the shit out of Virtual Reality.

  • I would love to make pancakes with this attached to my body..

  • this is an weird instrument

  • that would be so freakin cool if that was real. maybe scientists will come up with something to that extent in the future.

  • AMAZING!

  • Dude, your work is awesome, Your videos are freakin incredible.

  • looks like that hurt

  • That is amazing! Do you even now how that can effect entertainment gaming and movies? INTERACTION is the future and stuff like takes us one step closer to the final frontier :) :)

    Just amazing

  • Or, if you think about it outside of the gaming world, things like this could help get a wounded soldier (that's unconscious, blind from a flashbang, etc) back to safety by controlling his limbs' movements. Some sort of machine could detect the soldier's vital signs, and if he presses a button or the machine detects unconsciousness, it could automatically send electric pulses into his limbs to get him back to safety. :3

  • Excellent work.

  • push the tempo

  • Lol. He has to shave. Otherwise those wires hooked up to him might do more damage.

  • HAIRLESS ARM IS HAIRLESS

    he's not a man lulz

  • This is beautiful. New music for a new age. The time of the Transmusician, the Transartist...the Transhuman! Very good work.

  • Holy crap Nuggets!, Thats awesome, Make one for drums Defo, would be hard but someone would master it, Well done

  • so cool!

  • wow! This has some serious DJ potential... keep up the sweet work : )

  • maybe you could develop this into something better...maybe provide an artificial stimulus to the hand and the wrist so that you could play awesome tunes in the guitar..that's gonna be wicked!!

  • なんだこれ!すごい!

  • こういう方面にお金をかけられるのは、とても幸せなことだと思います。もっとやって世界を明るくしてください。

  • Oh you did it already... I wonder how you could find the more easiest muscles to control and how little you would have to actually move for wide range of sounds and settings.

I mean how to program the system so that theres enough similarities between ways to control of your body and how to control your music with it. :)

  • すげぇ!!かっけぇ!!

  • so awsome

  • i can imagine this being classed as an instrument in the future,

  • す、すごい---

    だけど、体は大丈夫なんですか?

    腕が痛そうだったから、

    なんか心配になっちゃった。

  • AWESOME!!! May I be inspired ? :D

  • myolectric sensor? More like a miniaturized Wiimote.

  • are u controlling the music or is the music controlling you??

  • I am controlling the music. thanks,

  • fucking gr8!

  • Interesting concept.

  • Thats how peopel will dance in future! lol

  • so good!

  • ahh you're a genius

  • this is fucking HUGE.. THANKS FOR DO MUSIC WITH YOUR MUSCLES!! I will learn that.

  • impressive! Would really like to see this in a live performance!

  • da bomb!

  • So how soon can one strap sensors to one's head to read brain-waves, assign different thought frequencies to sounds, and then merely think of a composition in one's head as it's played real-time? I think we have the technology, no?

  • this is my favorite use of sensor interface to date. Much much respect Daito!!!! Those myoelectrics were only patended last year I thought. Way to stay on it. How did you get them. I cant find anywhere to buy them.

    DBD

  • When I tell someone. I have seen the future...it is true!

  • Nice!

  • Elecotrodes are fun stuff. The data conversion interests me.
