You can do this glitch much easier by just pressing L2 (Been awhile since I played.. but I'm sure that's the correct button) when running. It's an evasive roll and a garauntee when pulling this off.

hehe! contra force for NES had a similar glitch, if you pause during a jump, you can unpause and jump from the position you were already in in the air. you can beat most of the game without even being touched because you fly over everyone.
