  • I wish I had money to buy this near brand new SVX that's on sale in my town. Maroon with some fancy rims on it.

  • This guy is hilarious!

  • Such a shame we never got the 36/64 center differential version.

The front wheel drive + clutch powered rear axle system we received does not even come close.

  • . ▲

    ▲ ▲

  • i just got a '93 svx 25th anniversary edition

  • Cost too much money to up keep-- Tires shot at 3K miles $800 6 Wheel bearings in 4 yrs-- 1) 4EAT transmission replaced cost me $3800 installed back in 2000. too many tickets for speeding! loved it but traded it for a Tundra back in 02

  • I've had my '92 SVX for 18 years and only 82,000 miles. I'm the typical little old lady, who's still in love with her car. Would not trade it in for anything out there today!

  • just bought one mint 111,000 original 1994 svx lsi leather sunroof mint 18 inch wheels that the guy put on before not a scratch on it

  • @motohead103

    hell yea

  • just bought one mint 111,000 1994 svx lsi leather sunroof mint 18 inch wheels that the guy put on before not a scratch on it

  • I just bought one used with one previous owner and almost 200,000 miles, this car has been well loved and it runs like a champ. You would never know that it had so many miles on it just by driving it. And dang, this thing has some power to it....I think I'm falling in love.

  • @rhetoricderp

How do you want do know that? Did you ever drive one of these?

  • I purchased this car new in the second year of production. I loved the way it looked and the interior was amazing. However...the car was worse than my first Ford. Two transmissions! BTW...when someone smashed one of the windows it took FOREVER to get it replaced. I'm happy to hear that only this model was a lemon. What a pity!

  • @moilman Actually, the only thing that was a "lemon" about it was the under-developed Auto they had in it. It has some crazy potential, and my buddy is doing a 5-600 hp build on his WRX 5-speed swap.

  • @OneHandHigh Your buddy is going to kill that 5mt. My rally car is only 300 hp and I bust 5mt' all the time. Go for a 6mt or a dog box and a r180 or even a r200 rear axle.

The SVX's transmissions downfall was the fact that it was Way Overdeveloped. They tried to cram too much technology into a 5 lb bag. The result was overheating and weak components.

  • now you can upgrade the rotors to drilled and slotted.

    also 4 piston calipers !

Built like a Legacy. so some parts are compatible.

you can 5 Speed Swap them from a Legacy now. recommend putting in a Stage 2 Clutch with hydrolic.

  • @SubaruXT6 You can also do a WRX 5-speed swap, and I agree with the Stage 2 Clutch. My buddy did his WRX 5-speed conversion and if ya feather the clutch at all it burns like hell.

  • my freinds brother had 1 of these what with the weird windows????}

  • UGLY

  • UGLY

  • LOL he talks about craftmanship at 1:54 and a piece of window rubber is flapping in the wind!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @Qnickel27 That piece of window rubber is actually the cable that the CAMERA that filmed THAT shot is attached to. The camera is stuck to the glass and it is connected to the video gear inside the car.

  • aghh, ugliest subaru's ever made.

  • @carveriscool really? are you fukn blind? the outback looks better than this?WTF?

  • @servo1056 Yeah? The Subaru Baja and this one tie as the ugliest. (new baja's not old 80's ones.)

  • @carveriscool im sorry but i must respectfully disagree. noway that this car is even close to the baja in the looks department...one is clearly much uglier!(and it aint the svx)

  • @carveriscool

they wernt bajas in the 80's........ they were brats, get it right if your going to dis them.

  • @MistaEG33 I know that they were called Subaru BRATs. But I was just saying I was talking about the newer Baja. And honestly they still don't look bad to me anymore.

  • @carveriscool So is yo mama fool.

  • @nxxi I know dude. She is fucking ugly. Nice try at baggin' on my mom though. :D

  • car is like sex on wheels

  • Could use scissor doors on that car.

  • I own a 94 svx and its awesome it may cost a little more to upkeep but its so worth it....mine has been great to me

  • your a retard the SVX got some of the best stopping distances of 98 feet from 60-0

  • Typical clueless yank

  • good idea! then you can put a WRX tranny in it!

  • it wasnt that the brakes were "bad" it was that they would have a bit of heat fade and shimmy

  • bad brakes? what the hell is he talking about, the svx stops from 60-0 in 98ft, thats pretty damn good

  • Get them hot on a track day and you'll know what he's talking about.

  • my friends has one of these. Last night we raced a turbocharged Evo and we fucked it up.

  • LOl SURE

  • yeah

  • Do you have a bridge forsale?

  • you're a loser yank

  • your a fag that uses the term "yank"

  • subaru needs to bring back the svx!!!!!

  • a freind of mine is selling one im more into drifting but ive heard this car is not a bad tuner for what it is

  • I might get the chance to race one of these things.

  • I found one of these babies, i bought it ASAP. Its the "claret" (Maroon), with the black top half, 1992 model, gray leather interior, 108K, and it runs beautifully. It kills me to see people mod the fuck out of these charming cars when they're swell enough as is. The only issues i've had so far since everything was kept in tip-top shape was the CD player :X. Anyone else have that wierd little problem?

  • lol my '04 impreza had that problem. ate my cd got it replaced and hasn't had the problem scince.

  • I have the orginal stero outta my 94 lsi. I been parting it out snice i hit a pine tree.

  • Did it take swearing out of our comments??

    This is irrelevant, but.. Fuck.

  • The only car I've driven that you can throttle hard in a corner with confidence, nice ride, pretty fast (155 indicated) in mine.

  • Subaru is about the only car company still around that goes the extra mile in quality control and character. While the SVX isn't the fastest drag car around, it'll easily take just about anything on the highway short of a supercar.

  • I was in love with these cars when I was in middle school and they were new. Now I love them even more and its so sad that so few are left in good condition.

This car is still more advance and superior in deisgn to most cars that cost what it did when it was new even after adjusting for inflation.

  • holy body roll lol

  • Kazzer ROCKS!!

as does my black 92 SVX, especially on winter roads.

  • I wish i could buy one of these cars brand new. I love them. Shame Subaru didnt have a manual to go with the EG33 engine. Look how beautiful the car looks then, now look at the shit designs Subaru uses on there current range of cars. Hopefully cars will look like this again.

  • you speak the truth.

the only subbie design i really like is the 06 model with the gnarly grill. but i guess ken block helped sell me on it hahaha

  • This car is very very rare and fucking nice, just like you said i rather have one of these than any other style Subaru square pieces of mow

  • I got one at 59k miles from the original owner, garage kept for $3800. Flawless car really, some scuffs on the side of the front bumper is about it, but you can't see them unless you look really close. They're around in like-new condition, just keep an eye out. Haha, I drove 1200miles and stayed up 40 hours to get mine.

  • @KGranTurismo i agree...the disign is of my taste as well...been lookin at some in my area and well.......transmission problems on all of them.....too bad....

  • Cause im tryn to order it from rock auto, they have a lot of compatible ones and need to know the official item number or lengh can u help me out? and the valve cover gaskets need to be changed very small leak too. all those parts are cheap and dont seem like big problems. but gettin the right match is. I fu can help me out id appreciate it.

  • bout to buy a 92 svx with 160k for 2000$, tranny was rebuilt in '04, new water pump, p/s pum, break hose, radiator...no leaks..engine went thru odb1 diagnose...seemed fine...interior is mint no holes no tares..non smoker...can anyone please tell me if its worth buying it...or will it cause alot of problems...would really appreciate a reply...thanks.

  • i had 92 svx- my favorite car ever- the tranny and rear wheel bearings are known issues- other than that i had mine to 155 mph and it ran smooth entire time

  • hey man i appreciate the reply, and i did buy it, got it for about 3 weeks. Love the car, everything's as it was. only prob now is the power steering makes a lot of noise, need a new p/s pump. And i have a small leak in the p/s hose. Do u know the lengh of the hose? or the factory item number.

  • My 92 is the shiznit with almost 200k miles my original transmission is still humming along. Great sounding original stereo till the speakers blow and the cd screws up, the paper tweeters are smooooth.

  • So basically slightly larger wheels with better brake pads and rotors? I mean, that's what I would do, probably throw some 16" steelies with some good rubber and lower the car and stiffen the suspension. Then I'd definetly turbo it and paint it satin black. Then basically smoke every car in sight.

  • WANNA SELLL ITS?!!?

  • my dad had one

  • I was 6 when the Alcyone SVX came out and automatically loved it, I'm 23 and I still love it! If Subaru fixed the bugs early within the car's life , we'd probably see a new Alcyone SVX now in the 21st century. but I tip my hat to them for building such a unorthodox, yet beautiful looking car.

  • you right, heavy heavy, my son destroy one last year 150mph flip the car 6 times and survive with his friend with minor scratches, very good frame amazing i will buy one more soon , i love it

  • 150mph? Really?

  • Yeah, I've got a 92 SVX with cold air and exhaust, other than that it's stock, and I've had it to 155 on the track, beautiful handling car!

  • look up the xt6 2.7 flat 6... it was right before the svx

  • subarus first 6 cyliner car was the svx....

  • no, the xt6 came out in 85

  • ah cool, thanks for that.

  • Audi started the awd format but i do really like this car.

  • guy hit the nail on the head. heavier than hell and went through brakes like crazy.

  • Kazzer is a freakin tool.

  • give me an svx and a VW corrado and i'll be happy for the rest of my life

    haha

  • SVX's are rare and finding a good looking one with an engine to match is even harder.

I saw a beautiful 97 in great condition, custom paint, brakes, exhaust, and tires...right after I bought my civic. :-(

  • loser!

  • i love mine, just put some bigger disks on it and all is well

a 5 speed swap is easy too, the '02 impreza gearbox was almost literally designed for the svx

  • I'll keep that in mind.

    I got a 92 LSL myself.

  • that host sucks.

  • That was my first reaction, but I think it might also just be bad editing.

  • no, its all him

  • +1 he does suck.. and doesn't know anything either... The XT-6 was released in '88 with a flat 6... kinda predates the SVX's "First" with a flat 6.

  • I used to drive one of these, and that car was absolutely brilliant. Heavy? Yes. But luxurious and quite fast at the same time.

Too bad I crashed it on the highway :(

  • That was a good review

  • i own the same car but a 94' and i love it ...just costly when it comes to repairs...great video.

  • I wish Subaru would bring out a newly designed more refined sports coupe like the SVX. I don't many would argue that the STi is a rocket sled on rails, but I like the old days of cars like the 300ZX Turbo and the SVX which had a nicer ride and a bit more luxury.

  • i love mine, ive had 2 before the one i have now, ill always have one.

  • i want the regular alcyone, not the svx

  • Theres 2 different Alcyone's, the Alcyone SVX and the Alcyone XT, those are the JDM designations though. In every other market the SVX didnt have "Alcyone" in front of it. So there is no "regular alcyone" if you say you want an Alcyone but not the SVX then you want an XT.

  • That thing is amazing, I am thinking about buying either SVX or caddy eldorado, I just love the way those thing look. Thanks for adding this.
