@Worp3music - Actually, yes, the JDK Band's most recent tour had a DVD release -- though by most recent, I mean 2010, so it's a VERY DIFFERENT BAND than what you saw in this video. (: They still play this song, though, and they still rock out 80s-style... but they're now fronted by a violinist, along with a vocalist who wears aluminum foil ram horns on his head. ;)
If you're interested in learning how to order the DVD, drop me a PM. I'll be happy to help.
@Wyrdwad yeah i have you seen the new trailer for Ys I & II Chronicles? It uses this! I cant Wait to Pick Upn the Hair Metal Pack It better have both the Original and New JDK versions of this!
@eatkeniii - Not only have I seen it, it was also partially my idea. (: I work for XSEED as a translator/editor. Definitely pick up Ys I & II Chronicles when it comes out, as I had a lot of fun with its editing, and even sneaked an Ys I walkthrough into the instruction manual! It's gonna be awesome. (:
@eatkeniii HOLY SHIT AWESOME MAN!!!! AND I ALREADY HAD IT PAYED OFF THE DAY IT WAS ANNOUNCED AS COMING TO THE US! Same went with Seven & Oath! EXSEED has earned my gratitude by bringing attension to this aweosme series with its AWESOME releases! Its Ys and Lunar releases have earned it a place in my heart! I actually own Oath In Felghana on my PC along with Ys 1 & 2 Complete. Ys is one of my all time fave series there AINT NO WAY ID MISS THIS PARTY!
Which "actual one" are you referring to? (: Remember, this game originally came out in 1988. The "actual version" of this song, for a long time, was done entirely with PC-88 or Famicom synth. It wasn't until the game was ported to the PC-Engine (a.k.a. TurboGrafx CD) that it received a full band treatment... and I think it may have actually been the same band, at that point! (: So basically, this may sound a bit too similar to the actual one because it basically IS the actual one...
I don't think the number of dimensions in the game's visuals have any effect on its music at all. (: I mean, a lot of Falcom's newer games are 3D, but they all have similarly classic-style gameplay to their older 2D predecessors, and their music is just as amazing now as it ever was. Just listen to songs from Ys: The Oath in Felghana, Ys Origin, Gurumin, or Xanadu Next.
Well I know that of course, but in general the music from 2d games are much more memorable than music I hear in games nowandays. Though, Metroid Prime series is a pretty good exception.
I overexaggerated alot with my comment, but that is how i roll. =D
Be that as it may, it's still meant to mimic the playing of the song - but the way it was originally, it was REALLY off. With just a little work, it could've been a lot more synched up (as I believe I've proven - watch the original version of this video sometime, then watch this one again, and you'll see just how out-of-synch it was!).
@Vivirandum: Not so. The original anime LD, on which the video was first included, had everything perfectly synced up, and with no digital distortion on the audio.
Pure epicness - I love this track! 80s synth rock at it's best! Ys <3

I love the song but this is a bit too simliar to the actual one. It just sounds like a keyboard player and his backup band.

The reason it is (or was) out of sync is because the playing you see here isn't actually the playing in the song.

Oh wow, I had no idea what song this was until at 1.05 the main melody started kicking in and my breathing actually stopped.
Amazing rendition!
