What amazes me is that people are still stupid enough to believe that any government is trustworthy or supports democracy. A bunch of rich pigs has our best interest in their harts? Get real!
Fuck off back to China and take the billions of your fellow chinks in Vancouver with you. Harper won by the WILL of the people now. So go hug a tree or get on a boat back to Asia...
38% was the highest vote for any party, you simply don't add up all the losing numbers and say our #'s beat the winning party. The majority of canadians voted conservative, this is the truth deal with it. It's like a 100 meter race and 2nd and 3rd say well we equalled 5 so five is a bigger # that 1.
Alex Jones is so so right - - - Canadians have to wake up to what we don't have and what we have lost as time went - - ON our yuppies generation and Baby Boomers are happy as long it does affect them - - WAKE UP - - NOW
@PhilipJFry72 No, she's telling the truth. Harper is a dictator and probably a war criminal too. I realize that's fine with you, Fry, but that's because you're a psychopath.
Before you throw around terms like "dictator" and "war criminal", you'd better be able to defend them. But you can't, so you stick to the Internet, where you can use your posts to smear anyone you like. Why? You're bored, you have no friends, and you thrive on negative attention.
So when 30 liberals sat on their hands and let the budget go through, that is not anti-democratic and an abuse of power? Did the constituants of those MP's feel represented?
Harper didn't shut down parliament. He prorouged. It's been done dozens of times in our history. I assume you were equally as outraged when the liberals "shut down parliament" on many occaisons?
I'd use the term "physician" but in essence, "heal thyself" - in short, do your own fucking homework, tit! Parliament was not shut down, and war crimes investigations? Run along little loser.
I didn't like the idea of the parties cooperating, Yes, it will get more stuff done. However the reason I don't like this is because the Liberals the Bloc and the NDP have different viewpoints if they were to make a coalition government (which was a plan) nothing would be done all they would succeed at would be to bring down the conservatives after which they'd spend their days arguing. Frankly at that I don't like the idea of separatists in government they got their vote in 1995 (+/-) and lost.
The Bloc represents the values of people who elected them, they are in parliment to vote accordingly.
I am proud that the Bloc voted to grant asylum for indivicuals seeking asylum for rejecting war
/watch?v=kFN01eHw6IM
Im not so proud that the Canadian government ignored the wishes of the canadian people through this vote by deporting a US serviceman anyway the following month and certainly appauled by Harper suspending democracy
Good summation of the situation. Our politicians need to realize that the only way any of them will get anything done is by cooperating with each other. Harper hasn't seemed amenable to this idea, so I say give the coalition a chance.
The three amigos would have ruined the country within 3 months. How can you have a separatist party running the country when all they really want is a break up of the country so that quebec will be independent.
Jack layton is so socialist that he would make china blush. What an ungodly group of idiots and you want to give them a chance to fuck up our country? You must be a school teacher or some other job that is not in the real world.
@karflooie People like you make me sick. I can't believe anyone could be so stupid. The block wants to break up Canada and the liberals do not believe in allowing the people to even vote on anything, even their leader was not voted in but appointed by the back room boys.
Try learning a few facts before you write such crap.
No one rejects anyone in voting. In Canada, we merely vote for an MP. If I didn't have a Conservative in my district, I wouldn't be rejecting the Conservative party. Even if I did, and didn't vote for them, how is that rejecting them? Additionally, I am not for/against any party leader that the MPs elect; again, I only vote for my MP.
For something does not mean against something else, especially when voting.
Well, you can choose the appropriate word. But the fact is 62 percent of Canadian chose another option over the Conservative, which means no single parties gain any substantial control to effectively control the agenda of the parliament.
Well, the reality is often more complicated. But like i said, when you chose one option out of the others, you are essentially rejecting the options that you didnt choose.
Yes, the Conservative got the most vote, but a minority government does not mean that any single party can control the agenda of parliament.
Voting is for something (e.g. +1). It is not against something (e.g. -1). Voting asks "Who are you for?" And you color in a box. It does not additionally ask "Who are you against?" It is a choice toward something; it is not against anything (unless that's the question being asked.)
Even a majority government can't control the "agenda" of parliament. Any MP can stand up and argue a case, Bill or opinion that they wish to address.
When it comes to confidence vote, party line discipline ensures that if conservative gets more than half of the seats, they will probably retain their status as a government. Since they did not get more than half of the seats at the House of Common, that means the parties must work together. And the coalition is 3 parties working together, which is how Parliament works.
Actually it's 2 parties working together with The Bloc having veto power. The Accord document doesn't have a budget, which is the supposed reason for the coalition. In reality, it will take even longer to implement and if we understand Lib/NDP/Bloc economics, cost more. Save the Bloc, no other parties gave suggestions to the PCs on the budget. This has nothing to do with the economic crisis, and everything to do with gaining power.
The accord doesn't have a budget because it hasn't been worked out yet. Other parties decided to bring down Harper because he wanted to destroy public financing for election campaigns, undermine pay equity for women, ban workers from their constitutional right to strike. All of these things are unacceptable and violates equal rights and undermine our democracy.
The Bloc is the main party that can allow a Bill to pass or fail, since the coalition doesn't have enough MPs without them, which puts every Bill at the discretion of Quebec MPs.
The parties decided to form a coalition over power, while yelling about a stimulus. Public financing to parties was taken away the day after, and then frozen after. There was no outburst (that I recall) over pay equity or striking rights. This is pure politics, and a total power grab.
Hey can i interrupt this cerebral discussion to input something a bit more shallow by saying that this girl in this video is one of the prettiest girls I've seen, hehe, sorry everyone, but yea, she is beautiful. Ok back to regularly scheduled topic,,,,
Great presentation, rather rash at the end.. I like it!
I think our greatest enemy in a time of political unrest is the poor education of the people. No one seems to know what's happening, or has been told that something completely far from the truth.
Educating and promoting critical thinking among citizens is the only way to combat the spin of politicians, and we're failing miserably. I'm happy to know that there are Canadians like you.
Likewise. I do believe everyone is capable of critical thinking. I personally went to university, but i dont think it is the only way to prevent ignorance. Likewise, I am happy that Canadians like you exist.

The appropriate word is voting. Voting doesn't imply acceptance or rejection of any person or their ideas.
62.37% of the electorate didn't vote PC.
73.76% ^^ Liberal.
81.80% ^^ NDP.
90.03% ^^ Bloq.
Oh, and 40.90% of Canadians didn't vote at all.
And yes, the party with the most MPs do actually control the agenda of parliament. That's why we have a PC cabinet and ministers.
Welcome to politics. Personally, I'd love to see a coalition government try and get any work done.
