i enjoyed the sermon... except the part where he started to talk about how 'charismatics, southern baptists, etc. have their heroes.' Everything else was extremely touching
@scottrolen27mvp Sorry, but the blunt truth of it is precisely that. I've been in Pentecostal, Baptist, Reformed Anglican and Bretheren churches. And every last one of them has their own little circle and is concerned with themselves. I was Pentecostal- and like the Apostle Paul, I no longer have any use for denominations. The Pentecostal and Apostolic seem to be some of the most judgmental out of the bunch- and still don't practice what they preach.
Paul Washer is one of the few American preachers that is somewhat famous, in preaching circles, that still preaches the FULL gospel. The FULL gospel is a razor blade.
@littleredbirdy :-) Indeed so. However- that term has also been abused in many churches that claim to be 'Full Gospel'. And most modern churches have reduced that to nothing more than, "well that Baptist church down the street doesn't preach several elements of the gospel, so we make sure we preach all of it..." When that church is no better off or even behind that other. Concentrate on ourselves- not the pathetic little competition between our churches. A waste of time, that is.
Blessed saviour, thank-you for sending this man to spur us on even unto death, and for this refreshing breath you are breathing on your church through Paul washer and the men who seek your will above all else.
Wonderful and full of wisdom. This has got to be one of the most selfless sermons I've ever heard. Most are only after what they want instead of what God wants.
@Complex1989 :-) Just like a smorgasboard at a restaurant. And you're right- that's exactly what 99% of today's churches are reduced to. Too many little (but significantly important) passages of scripture are omitted today- because we don't like them or we think they won't sit right with the congregation. And the church goes on- as one little girl wrote about the Nicene Creed- "...and I believe in one Holy, Chaotic church..."
The message is holy and blessed but as beautiful as the background music is, it distracts from the sermon. The message is sufficient ~ thank you very much for posting it.
Extract from the old prayer "Insanae et Vanea Curae".
Quid prodest O mortalis, conari pro mundanis, si coelos negligas?
Sunt fausta tibi cuncta, si Deus est pro te.
What does it gain you, O mortal man, to strive for wordly things, if you neglect the things of heaven?
All things will work to your advantage, if God is with you.
