I love the pipe, I myself am fairly fond of clays.
One thing that I hate about today's "modern" civilization is how whatever government in what ever country can manipulate what they want the "truth" to to be. When their truth is being told they have experts come to swear that what they say is true right from the gosple of Paul. When it is questioned then it is not them that is on the denesive, it is the person that ask the question just because they do question things they are wrong.
Nice meer Ferrick - suits you well. Going to try Erinmore Balkan on next stock up. Would you say it isa strong English/Balkan in flavour or mild?Interesting vid as always.
@interpolmo Thanks Mark, I quite like the pipe too, it surprised me a little. As for the Erinmore BM, I would say that it is a mild tobacco but with a great taste. Certainly worth a try. Cheers! - Ferrick
Erinmore Balkan Mixture isn't bad at all, just polished off a tin a fortnight ago. Have you ever tried the regular Erinmore mixture or flake? If so how does it compare?
Nice Meerschaum, I made the mistake of dropping mines once. Luckily only chipped the bowl slightly, it was getting to be one ugly pipe before I passed it on to a friend.
Some very agreeable ideas presented, I look forward to the next.
@VengefulAbeus Hi Scott, I don't mind the Erinmore flake, but don't go much on the mixture - something too fruity for me. Out of the three I'd pick the BM probably because I prefer the English type tobacco. Thanks for dropping by. Cheers!
I love the pipe and that's the truth. Always enjoy your thought-provoking discussions. In general, I think too many "truths" are mislabeled as such and only reflect conventional wisdom which is relative, fleeting and subjective. Absolute truths, on the other hand, are girded by empirical evidence that can withstand the assault of revisionist efforts or sloppy misrepresentations. Best Regards, Gary
Ferrick.....excellent video....although it angers some...i never think "blind faith" is healthy.....i think this video highlights this well....i am in agreement....thanks again for a great vid! cheers
@mibgd Yes, 'blind faith', sort of frightening when one considers that faith itself is not wanting to know what is true :) Thanks for watching my friend. Cheers! - Ferrick
Dear Honored Sir; awesome, as always. I am really looking forward to this series as Nietzsche is my Master. That doesn't say enough because he is the great Liberator, the Conqueror. Now unchained and unfettered,we philosophers of the future are free to spread our wings and QUESTION.We daring Argonauts whose barks are adrift;our perspectivism, our Gemini duality-reconciles all opposites. Our contradictions are numerous and Truth is a Woman.Wild and untamed...we Hyperboreans sail towards the infinite.
Eons ago I took what was said at face value....I was very naive. Today I tend to doubt quite a bit, so I suppose I'd agree with Nietzsche's statement. The search for truth is a constant for me and I feel that I'm better for it.
@Naturainfinity I think we all do a similar thing, even the great Nietzsche at one time. It seems that sometimes we need to learn the hard way. Thanks for dropping by. - Ferrick
Hi! Great video and great topic! I very much agree with Nietzsche's relativistic view on truth. I think we cannot establish an empathic idea of truth like Kant tried to. Nor should we any longer. But I sometimes am bothered by Nietzsche's despair and his heroic snobism. It may be a philosopher more academics but definately less intellectuals should focus on. Mills might be the better choice for them. :-)
@ContemplativePipe I'm glad to hear you like my activity here, Ferrick. I really enjoy your thoughtful videos. Pipe smoking and philosophy in the sense of concerning oneself with such questions is a great combination I think! Not because you get better in contact with truth, :-D but simply because it is great fun! At least to me and perhaps most of us. All the best, Eddy
I love your videos, you ARE wise and just a wonderful guy all around. You make this pipe smoking lady happy.

I believe truth to be existent on many levels just as our physical reality,
for instance outer and inner space. They both exist in the here and now
however the truths about scientific laws greatly differ. Gravity
has effect on my arm but not so much all the atoms within my arm. it's
not the nucleus with gravitational force that has the protons flying around it.
Point being truth varies from experience, knowledge, and environment.
Even then it's often personal truth and not exact.

I think you would very much enjoy Foucault and his ideas on Power/Knowledge.
He very much built upon Nietzsche's ideas pertaining to this - very interesting.

Do you have a degree in philosophy? I'm going to study it with history later this year.
Nice pipe also.
