  • i am so mad!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i tried replacing the fan in mine and the fan was just sliding so i put a screwdriver in the back gear to hold it in place then the drive belt snaped because the force was to strong then i got plyers and held the gear and the gear broke into a million pieces. my kirby has to be the most stunnorn to replace the fan in the world !!!!

  • Why does my Kirby 3rd Gen. Jumping off the ground & taking-off Flying when I engage the drive lever. Please can you advise me on how to make the repair or adjustment? Thanks ~Annette~

  • @reptilesandbmx25 I would replace the power drive transmission unit with the wheels. It's about 20 years old, it might be an over fix, but it will most defiantly solve your problem. It cost $109.95 and has FREE shipping! GoVacuum dot com part# kir122

  • I would love to see a video of how to replace the fill tube. I got a Kirby G4 from a garage sale. It needed cleaning but works very well. All it needs is a new fill tube because it has holes in it. Thanks ...Lisa :)

  • @lisaheath1 Hi Lisa, I just wanted to let you know that I was able to shoot the bag fill tube repair video as you requested. If you visit our main page and view all videos, it is the very last one. I hope this helps you fix your Kirby! Thanks again for watching the Govacuum video series. -Chris

  • @points2shop Go to govacuum.com and search Kirby Fill Tube, or if you want it already connected to the boot, search Kirby Mini Emptor. Sorry I can't leave a link but youtube won't allow me. Feel free to give us a call or email me at chris (at) govacuum dot com, and I'll be more then happy to help you find your part

  • DUDE!!!!! do you where i could find the tube that connects to the inner bag

  • Do you recommend against retro fitting newer models with metal fans? Say fitting a G3 with a metal fan? Will this compromise the motor bearings?

  • I have the new fill tube on the boot. The wire ties I was going to use are too short. All the diagram says is they are wire ties. They don't say how long they need to be.

  • I am so intrigued watching you take the vacuum apart. I have a Kirby G3 that has a black hose inside the collection bag that has torn at the base. It looks like all I need is a new bag.

  • @AquaCarb Thanks for watching! Actually the black hose is called the Fill Tube, and unfortunately this part is notorious for cracking, which usually causes a big mess inside the outer bag. No need to buy the entire bag assembly though, you may just purchase the inner fill tube piece separately. Also, the outer bag is washable, so vacuum out the majority of the dirt and debris, and you may then throw the whole bag in your washing machine to clean it out. Just sit it out and air dry it.

  • @GoVacuums Sure anything but the $90 Kirby wants for the whole new assembly.

  • @AquaCarb I just sent you a very detailed message explaining step by step how to replace your fill tube. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you get stuck on something. Hopefully this helped you!

  • @AquaCarb You can purchase the fill tube on our site by searching: 190384. The tube connects to the bottom boot part, and the upper bag collar (the part that the bag actually connects to) by a simple zip tie which you may purchase at Home Depot for much cheaper then buying the Kirby genuine part. There may be tape that is wrapped around the top and bottom parts, simply unwrap the tape first. I'd be happy to shoot a video to show you if you'd like. CJ

  • @GoVacuums Thanks again for your help. I have tried to remove all of the wire ties to get to the hose. Everything had 2 wire ties and then when I tried to remove the fill hose from the base piece in the bottom I could not separate them.

Looks like I'll need a whole new bag holder.

  • @AquaCarb Yes, removing the old fill tube, especially from the G3 model which is now close to 20 years old can be difficult. Don't worry too much about breaking it, try adding some force behind it. Please let me know if you'd like some help.

  • @GoVacuums I figured out the problem. I hadn't realized that it actually attaches not once but twice. It is now in the proper pieces and a new fill tube has been ordered. Chalk it up up to inexperience. The fun part now will be if I can remember to put it back together.

  • @GoVacuums please shoot a video showing how to replace the fill tube. Thanks ...Lisa :)

  • @lisaheath1 Thanks for watching our video series! I will try and take a video of the fill tube replacement in the next few days, this is a common, and challenging repair as well. Thanks for the suggestion!

  • my spindle keeps turning

  • @nicksick96 Your spindle is probably still spinning because you are not securing the fan from also spinning. You'll need to hold the fan in place while you try to remove the belt actuator arm. Did this fix your problem?

  • @GoVacuums no. thats whats i was doing. the fan wasnt spinning i found out that i needed a wrench to keep the motor from spinning

  • @nicksick96 I repair Kirby Vacuums for a living, if you take an 11/32 wrench to the rear of the motor shaft (it's notched for this purpose) you can lock up the motor so that you can remove the front cap of the shaft. Also, the front cap is reverse threaded (turn right to remove)

  • AWESOME!!. My wife's Kirby is like a family heirloom and I can't afford to put it in the shop. I got to the fan just fine but I couldn't figure out what the hole was for. You people saved the day. I went to govacumn.com to maybe order the part but I saw no tab for Kirby. Figures............ those guys raped us on a switch replacement. Awesome info from you...... but as a Mechanical journeyman for many years..... one bit of advice.......put those screws in a cup or tray!!

  • @TheEzraben "put those screws in a cup or tray!!" alas, once again i told myself, it will only be a couple. what really gets me is that when i move in 2 weeks i will find the original screws and lose them for good before i get around to swapping them. us do-it-yourself types get along so well because we all do and enjoy similar things.

  • Good video, thanks,! how much do the fan kits cost?
