  • I crocheted a bag from plastic bags from Tesco, but it disintergrated into a load of flakes! :'(

  • This is the most inspiring idea I've seen in a long time!

  • I heard about this because a friend on swap-bot made me a bag from Walmart bags...it is gorgeous! You'd never know plastic bags were used in it.

  • just awesome! have shared with a lot of friends

  • That is some cool stuff they make!

  • We should all be so creative : ) Way to go ladies

  • love the finish product!!!the bags are great and it's a wonderful idea.

  • Do they sell the things they make? They look really good and I bet the tourists who buy them won't even know it's made of plastic bags!

  • I am impressed. Thank you for the video.

  • that is really cool.

  • the song jams! , but the project is even more awesome..........great job.

  • Rough translation:

Jambo, jambo, bwana = Hello, hello, sir!

Habari gani? = How is it?/How are you?

    Nzuri sana = very good

    Wageni = visitors/guests

wakaribishwa = we welcome all of you

Kenya yetu = [to] our Kenya

    Hakuna Matata = no troubles/worries

Our porters sang this to encourage us to keep walking as we summitted Mt. Kilimanjaro! Great memories!

  • dude thats kinda cool, dude now i wanna do that.

  • brilliant :)))

  • This is a great idea. I save plastic shopping bags to reuse and to use for trash and recycling, but to use them for crochet projects is the best idea I've heard in a long time.

  • the song is called Jambo... i don't know the author of the song.

  • ok thanks

  • Love these colourful bags! The power of re-using! Turning trash to treasure, thanks for sharing.

  • Beautiful--lots of individual creativity shown in the various bags. Very Nice!

  • This is an awesome project.

  • i wish i had friends who care about the environment as much as i do:\

then we could pick up plastic bags from the street together cause it's pretty hard to just do that alone:)(but those are only dreams:()

  • please see clay throwers comment. I agree (I didn't find it too long though) What group is it? How can we help? You didn't give that info. Would like to help. Please add more detail. Way to go!!xxoo

  • that is awesome and a great idea. thanks so much for sharing!

  • that looks really cool.

  • Video is a bit long, but it is a great idea. Now, where can I buy one of those bags? Without HOW to help support this idea, the video doesn't do much more than make me say, "hey, that is a good idea. Hope it works out for them."

  • Wow....this is just so amazing...ty for sharing this! :D

  • Super Idea, beautiful artistry too

  • Wow, the lion king saying =D

  • Brilliant! I'm in awe of the beauty of the items. Thanks for sharing this.

  • sheilascrafts, its quiet simple. the various colours come from the bags themselves! if u want a black bag, use black plastic bags as the 'yarn'. then its up to yor skill that u create colourful patterns as u go along!!

  • I'm in awe! What a talented and smart idea!

  • amazing and inspirational. going to look around for lots of different coloured bags now in my family and friends stash.

  • Can you buy these in Canada anywhere?!

  • this is so awesome.. I cant believe that I was telling someone that I need to get expensive yarn in order to make my projects... this is inspirational

  • How do you get the colors on the plastic bags? I confused on that part.

  • I'm pretty sure the bags they used were colored already.

  • ARGH I'm trying this right now and crocheting is confusing as hell!

  • it's ok... you'll get it! I've been crocheting since I was nine (I'm 14 now) and it IS very difficult for a while!!!

  • actually its not to hard if ur dedicated ive stated crocheting in 6th grade and it is cunfusing but after a while ull understand it and try acually learning in person its easier than watching videos

  • thats.... verry intresting and nice also awsome they helped out those people and this vid made me want to go out and help the people more than i already do :P

  • Thanks! It was a real challenge for us and we managed to start this "new business" in one of the slum areas in Nairobi called kawangware...

  • Wow, I will make a big one and use it as my shopping bag. What a great idea.

  • Fantastic!

  • wow. what a way to save both the planet and one's own life.
