The NY times quoted a pirate in the latest scheme "we just want the money." What! Build your country. Form a working government, harvest your resources, make it attractive so industries will invest and bring jobs. Why do others have to pay for what you are failing to do domestically. And the whole premise of this is protection of the waters from illegal fishing. I'm sick of lawless, rouge nations in Africa. This is my opinion and I'm not interested in these youtube rhetoric wars.
How can you form a government while there is a war going on? And if the un is not going to stop illegal fishing and toxic dumping in somalia waters the pirates will stop it
It's just one of those issues that will require multi-lateral thought in order to find a solution to the problem. I saw recently on Al Jazeera that Indonesian waters are infested with the same piracy issue.
Do you want lasting peace in somalia ? Then (1) start with the removal of tribalist abdulahi yusuf he's the main obstacle to peace (2) appoint someone like PM noor adde who is ready for peace and negotiations. (3) negotiate with the armed wing of ARS not sheikh sharif who is homeless bum and a traitor. The west must stop fooling themselves and deal with the reality.
His Excellence President Abdullahi Yusuf of Somalia is trying hard to fight Alqacida and alshabab and their Pirates. His Excellance has devoted his life to bring peace and secutrity to Somalia. While The New PM Nur Ade has Sent thousands of people to death while he was Judge in Bare Regime.
he peaces of trash who want divdied and rule.he hate the somali ppl so much that he bring ethiopa and say they are one here to helps us bring peaces every somali knows the regime of ethiopa no one will trusth them other then abdullah yusuf and his friends who are only after geting money.we will not be full by them we have seen what they have done to our brother and sister in ogaden who are living there homes because what the regime in ethiopa, ogaden such be good case why the somali wont except.
media should stop lying, under islamic courts for almost 2 years evrything was quite good in somalia. On the subject, the us navy's should not be allowed other actions then protect essential shipping and prevent the illegal western trawler fishing. If that happens somali fisherman will all have a livelyhood and no great need for piracy.
that's interesting... I wonder what guidelines they use for "good". Are you able to link any videos showing this?
On the other hand, I personally don't feel that 2 years of being "quite good" is enough for anyone of any 1st, 2nd, or 3rd world country, but i'm a softy for the suffering...
good as in not hideously violent. just read the papers 2-3 years ago thoroughly..and thoroughly you need, cus the anti-somali campaign was ongoing yet.
The only time u find pirates in a country is when its no man's land. Cos somalia is state of anarchy and needs to fix itself before even talkin about getting rid of pirates. ICU should be back in control unlike TGF who so selfish only wants to paid by americans by killing innocent somalis for there tribes. Somalia has long way ahead it needs first to get rid of that clan hate then progress can come, am sure somalis wants peace for once after 18 yrs of civil war. Its catostrophe there.
By the way any foreign fool who wants to illegaly fish and dump waste in somali waters deserves whats coming to them if they encounter the pirates

Too bad the Americans scraped all the Pegasus class ships.
I bet they would have worked very well in this kind of scenario.
