Wouldn't it make more sense to just create a crossing so that trains could also depart from platform 1 towards Exeter, instead of this complicated procedure to get to platform 2?
How do they cope on summer Saturdays when there are so many additional services to accommodate?
@adnewsome1 Paignton is a confusing station, trains cannot depart from platform 1 or they would be going in the wrong direction
