While a Tornado is almost always found at the base of a mesocyclone (updraft region) and does more localized wind damage with debris in all directions. Derechos can produce large swaths of damage 100s of miles long, and in extreme cases 100s of miles wide too.

Very nice my friend. Have never one that intense myself. Without looking at radar how can you tell if its a tornado or a deracho?
