I get the feeling you are just shouting "look at me aren't I rich" Maybe you'll grow up one day and learn how to shoot proper video and not rely on some bird getting people to watch. Your continuity, editing and sound were atrocious.
The trainer only flew for 5 minutes, the screen shows the flight time. If it flew 20 miles away and back in 5 minutes,he just broke the R/C record for the fastest trainer. 40miles/5 minutes=8miles/min=480mph.no trainer can fly 480mph
@roberted51 No no no... It HAS a 20 mile range, he did not fly 20 miles. I wondered the same thing until I re-read the discription. Always read the discription first :)
What happened to the 20 mile range? The plane didn't have enough fuel to fly 20 miles and back, plus you only flew for 5 minutes and just circled the field. No trainer can fly 40 miles in 5 minutes, that's 8miles/min= 480mph
WOW this video is awkward did you see that in the beginning he closed it when she was trying to open it and the guy was a big douche in a quiet way wow never buying that plus doesn't look like that high quality

Supposedly it is for our security.
If you study real history, you'll see the bigger pictures.
Let's just say that the [Patriot Act] passed after 911 is no different than Hitler's [Enabling Act]. Hitler himself couldn't come to absolute power without the Reighstag Fire and especially without his Minister of Propaganda, Joseph Goebbels.
Obama recently passes the NDAA. Indefinite detention/martial law.
That is a swet FPV setup ... and it's kinda obvious, get a cheap van, a cheap 50" television, and some nice seats and the usual FPV equipment and you have pretty much everything!
On top of that, the Van's roof makes for a nice grounding plane for the transmiter. :)
I had to do a 'replay' to watch what I missed the first time. I still found my eyes concentrating on the model. What a charming smile on such a naturally charming young lady. I wish all r/c videos had such an attractive attendant.
Now I will replay it one more time and see if I can concentrate on the r/c setup and the plane. I think you have one of the best systems I've seen. Congratulations on your setup.
Dam she is Hot!!!! : ) That antenna on the van is crazy. I can assume this is not a cheap set-up right? How much do you have stuck into the video system? With that big screen it's like sitting in the cockpit. Vary cool.
I think we need to be clear, as guys like bhack are spreading alot of FUD around. As it currently stands, FPV flying is fully legal in the United States. This may change in the coming months as the FAA has been considering enacting regulation regarding this.
I will personally be writing my Congressman to apply pressure to the FAA to ensure it remains legal and unregulated. I would suggest everyone do so, as FPV is a fun and exciting sport that will pull in many new hobbyists.
@Wearymanblogger Why don't you just go to rcgroups, go to the UAV section, and read the sticky (the FAQ)? It outlines exactly what I'm talking about. Or go to diydrones, and read *their* FAQ. Or ask the remote controlled aerial photography association?
There is nothing wrong with FPV. I'm saying (well, actually the FAA is saying) that flying a plane when you can't see it is being an irresponsible jackass, and is also illegal.
This isn't even contested, it's commonly accepted.
This is completely illegal according to FAA regulations. You have to have visual contact with the place at all times (an no, a video link does not count).
Please please please don't ruin this hobby for people by doing stuff like this.
You are incorrect. There is no FAA requirement that the pilot of an RC model plane maintain eye contact with the craft. In fact, there are NO FAA regulations concerning model aircraft whatsoever!
I should note that some are being considered, but are still very much in the planning stages. Current versions of the regulation considered do NOT make FPV flying illegal in any way.
So yeah, wrong on pretty much EVERY count there blhack.
@Wearymanblogger You obviously don't know what you're talking about. There absolutely are regulations regarding what the FAA calls UAS (Unmanned Aerial Systems), and there absolutely *are* regulations that require the UAS to either have a chase plane with a human in it, or that the person in control of the UAS maintain line of sight to it.
@Wearymanblogger Youtube apparently doesn't allow links, but google "FAA UAS Regulations" (without quotes) for a pretty detailed description of why this is illegal.
And you apparently don't even read what you Google.
"Recreational use of the NAS is covered by FAA Advisory Circular (AC) 91-57 which generally limits operations to below 400 feet above ground level and away from airports and air traffic."
Since the above video (as far as I could see) follows all of the above, it is pretty clear that it is NOT illegal.
I should further note that the above quote is from the FAA website from an advisory circular dated December 1 2010, and that is the very latest information available on this subject.
As I stated in my first post, the specific rules and regulations regarding FPV and UAV operation are VERY much up in the air right now, and the FAA has been working with a team that includes AMA members to nail down acceptable rules and policies.
However, for now FPV is NOT illegal. Stop spreading FUD blhack.
@Wearymanblogger You're right, FPV isn't illegal, it's illegal if you are doing it without being able to *see* the plane, which is very clearly happening in this video. This isn't FUD. Just read the damn article:
"There are two acceptable means of operating UAS in the NAS outside of “restricted” airspace [like an airfield specifically for hobby planes]: a Special Airworthiness Certificate – Experimental Category or a Certificate of Waiver or Authorization (COA)."
Recreational use of the NAS is covered by FAA Advisory Circular (AC) 91-57 which generally limits operations to below 400 feet above ground level and away from airports and air traffic.
Read part 91-57: Model Airplane Operating Standards. I thought you said there were no regulations for hobbyists?
>In fact, there are NO FAA regulations concerning model aircraft whatsoever!
A Special Airworthiness Certificate in the Experimental Category is the only certification available to civil operators of UAS. Due to regulatory requirements, this approval precludes carrying persons or property for compensation or hire, but does allow operations for research and development, market survey, and crew training.
There is a pretty lengthy discussion about this topic at DIY drones.
Do whatever you want, but you're wrong, This is prohibited by the FAA.
@Wearymanblogger I think maybe you're confused about how the FAA works. They don't list things that you're prohibited from doing, they list things that you are allowed to do. Right now they're *considering* allowing UAS outside of the hobby spectrum, but they haven't written the reg yet...so this still *remains* against FAA regulations.
I think you are confused as to how the law works in the United States of America. if there is no law regarding it, I am free to do as I see fit, as per the Constitution. The FAA can do squat about that. I have shown several times now that the "rules" you are pointing to are merely recommendations, NOT LAW. But you just don't get it. This has been discussed to death many places and FPV is CLEARLY legal. Stop spreading FUD.

Someday I will fix up my van as a theater for spectators too. Say an LED or LCD 30 inch flat screen monitor will do. How about a roll down screen and the projector on ceiling of van?
I must say, this is the way of RC aviation. I have to ask, What altitudes can you fly without going out of range. I want a set up like this, but I want to fly cross country flights from one airport to the other and back.. Any response would be great...
@jltaviation1 tthe Dragon link modules have been tested at 15+ miles, a little glitchy at that range but will be 100% reliable at 10 and less miles away I should think.
JetPilott, I know this is for real and great job by the way. I have been at RPV flying since 1996. It's to bad folks make such poor remarks. I produced INCAB-RC Videolink in 1998 which covered most of this subject. Subbed your channel. I'll keep checking back. BTW, Great taste in choosing your co-pilot!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Notice the radar altitude data along with airspeed and other data added to the video. This is obviously from a military UAV seeing all that returning data. To do what's shown would require very elaborate electronic and radar systems with a satellite link. The devices "connected" to the controller and the plane wouldn't cut it. The girl just stuck a white box to the back of the controller - no cable. Also - no radar or satellite antennas added to the plane.
That heads up display comes from a GPS chip on the plane. I personally have one of these I get 20 miles. Learn how radios work before you go criticizing people who know what their doing.
@eagle5719 - Do a little homework before you make such a statement. There are many commercially available on-screen display (OSD) units that integrate with GPS receivers and onboard cameras that cost only a few hundred bucks.
Mike, I found the rc forum where you talk very good about this system, And I agree. But you have had this system for a very LONG TIME now, You clam it will control your plane out to 20 mile. You should clam what you did! and NOT guess what you think it will do. There no proof as of yet! So get off your butt use the system as is, and prove to us there no problem going out to 20 miles and back.
if you are going to do this ridicoulus presentation, atleast give us a decent looking woman... man you make us look like cavemens..

>In fact, there are NO FAA regulations concerning model aircraft whatsoever!
Oh, yeah, you did.

I did, and I was correct. There are no REGULATIONS (or laws either).
I happen to have a copy of AC 91-57 on my PC and here are the opening lines:
"This advisory circular outlines, and encourages voluntary
compliance with, safety standards for model aircraft operators."
Note the key word: VOLUNTARY
These are NOT REGULATIONS. They are recommendations ONLY. Also, the "Line of sight" crap you keep bringing up isn't even IN AC 91-57.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Notice the radar altitude data along with airspeed and other data added to the video.
Buyer beware!!

You clearly don't know a think about RC
That heads up display comes from a GPS chip on the plane. I personally have one of these I get 20 miles. Learn how radios work before you go criticizing people who know what their doing.

@eagle5719 You are right, I think he is hiding something!

@eagle5719 - Do a little homework before you make such a statement. There are many commercially available on-screen display (OSD) units that integrate with GPS receivers and onboard cameras that cost only a few hundred bucks.

@eagle5719 google "OSD" ...

VIRUSS222 2 years ago
A 500 mW output on 435 MHZ and has a range of around 20 miles.
Not even! Maybe 8 to 12 mile max. You'll will need a Hi-gain bean antenna at the Tx, And a Hi-gain antenna at the Rx.
Or prove me wrong, and do a 20 mile flight one way. Using only the antenna on the system, Post your video here.
