James's head gets above the rim on almost every dunk he does. Plus, the backboard was alot lower in '84 than it is today. They actually raised the backboard in '85 because of Dr. J hitting his head.

These dunks are not that great... its just that they were original so people thought they were better if they did this today in the dunks contest they would be getting quite low scores.

Dont get me wrong someof these dunks are great but cannot compare to dunkers like James White and Gerald Green.

DUH! It's b/c they've already done it. No matter what era you play in, originality is the key to winning a dunk contest. If MJ and Wilkins are still participating today, they'd still be coming up w/ innovative dunks to avoid low scores. Green tried to impress the judges today by doing Vince Carter's between the legs alley-oop, but nobody cared about that dunk anymore. He's not an innovator like 'Nique and MJ.
