  • i have this on disc and listened for years... so cool to see him play it live finally!

  • I totally dig electronic music, I dig what I've heard of the ondes martenot (mostly thru radiohead and muse) and I totally dig Bach and fugal composition which I assume is what this guy is going for... But this is godawful, atonal noise. It's like flight of the bumblebee falling down a flight of stairs while clutching a korg with bad wiring

  • this man is a genius, as of course Maurice

  • According to wikipedia, since 2008, Jean-Loup Dierstein, with the support of Maurice Martenot's son, has been building ondes Martenot instruments based on the model used when production stopped in 1988.

  • That's right (it is a comment I have put on wikipedia) and you can also go on my website to contact me for more informations. The adress is at the right of this video. T. Bloch.

  • Wow. Fantastic, thank you for sharing this.

  • how much are those ondes martenot?? i want to buy it... can someone please help me and tell me???

  • For the last several years, they have not been made. As I understand it, there is an engineer working on recreating them from the original design. From what Thomas Bloch told me (you can contact him through his email on his website), the price is yet unknown, though he did mention 20,000 euros as a possible price. When the new ondes martenots will be available for purchase is also unknown.

  • i can get hold of you from Tokyo Japan. where are you? please advise your contact info.

  • I wish that the camera work focused more on the right hand. That's where the interesting stuff with the ring happens. The left hand was mostly articulation and voice. Fine player. The instrument has so many different sounds. I'd love to see more videos that illustrate the variety of timbres and sounds the ondes martenot makes.

  • Do you think that pianoforte is a good basis to learn to play ondes martenot?

  • did do the premier of messiaens satin francis as one of the 3 ondes palyers? i know messiaens sister in law was one but i cant hthink of the other two. if he played with parsi opoera it might be him since not many operas use the ondes.

  • "Sounds just like Centipede, or maybe Yar's Revenge?"

    I'm kidding!!

This is fantastic! First time I've ever seen a real Ondes in action.

    Great stuff.

  • He's good but just cause he's going fast doesn't it sounds good

  • I want one so bad. Too bad it costs way too much. :(

  • How much?

  • You don't even buy it anymore, you just kill and plunder from someone who owns it. Getting a French Connection knock off with the decent Demon Joystick controller easily runs like $3200. Basically only British people can buy one now.

  • Freekin' intense and ultra retro-modernistic-futuristic, whatever you wanna call it, it's WILD and I love it. A glimpse of what Heavy-Metal guitarists tried to borrow from (multi finger-tapping on the fret-board) but tried to add soul and blues to it, then got all caught up in the Pop-ish "Hair" Metal of the late 80's......Modern sounds the way they thought it should sound like in the past. I would LOVE to hear many more variations of this strange, dark, technical, and aggressive sound.

  • There is a recording dedicated to this instrument (ondes Martenot) published by the classical label Naxos, played by Thomas Bloch (who plays on this video). This piece (Formule) is recorded on this CD with many others.

  • Brilliant
