I can't play Counter Strike: Source b/c the graphics card overheats (screen goes black, comp refuses all commands). All efforts to cool the CPU/graphics card fail. @247dannyp No sorry this cannot be done on usb or mmc slot, but if you have a mini pcie you could try a PE4L ( PCIe passive adapter Ver1.5 ) from the same website. Also you will need a power supply because the adapter itself cannot power any gfx.

Many stock computers come in very crappy cases that are either compact or dont leave any upgradable room. Dell is one of the worst.

So yes, this should work just fine with a desktop. I dont know much about external graphics cards, but when I still had my Dell I wished so much to have a 10.5inch card. Ever since I've been custom building computers for myself and friends ;)

@TwZGaming a vidock is an external pci-e port, you have an internal one in your pc, if you dont have one you should buy a new motherboard (in case you didnt know this already) if you are interested in crossfire/sli and you dont have a sli motherobard then just buy a new motherboard, this will be way cheaper (and i dont even know if its possible)

The information is very useful, but the title is very misguiding. I was hoping for an external graphics card that does work for laptops. I just got the Witcher 2 and though the framerate is an issue (probably 15fps), my main issue is the laggy ass controls. The delay is so bad, I could shake my mouse left to right twice per direction and the mouse on screen wouldn't move until then.

@SweetoBoyee No there is no way to rewire it to the laptop screen. The difference is that you can fit every piece except for the monitor into a backpack. As opposed to a large desktop that is much heavier, and much less easy to bring places.

I payed about $200 and built my own eGpu setup with am Nvidia Gtx 460 which is about 10x more powerful than the 4670m

I bought a new pc because after I while I realized that my processor was a duel-core pentinum, and now-a-day games all go on the I-series (intel) So the graphics card probably wouldn't have worked because all the other stuff in my computer wouldn't support the any decent graphics card.
