  • I found this again as I was going through movies I had downloaded. A wonderful interpretation of a great, great song.

  • Yes, well done. Keep singing and posting.

  • Thanks for the soulful singing. I just discovered Laura, the most wonderful thing that has happened to me lately. Thanks again

  • @joseluisfernandez58 I also only discovered Laura Nyro a few months ago (although I am only 16, so I wasn't around when Laura was alive!). Anyway, you have a brilliant voice, and the guitar sounded very nice as well!

  • Beautiful! You really figured out how the song should be done. I've always thought the arrangement of the recorded version was too slow and heavy. You lightened it up but maintained the song's poignancy. I also agree with the assessment that you sound like what I imagine a young Joni Mitchell would've sounded like singing a Laura song. Too bad they didn't record each other's songs. It seems they admired each other from afar but remained somewhat wary of each other.

  • Sort of sound like Joni Mitchell singing Laura Nyro

  • @danpeak

I totally take that as a compliment.

  • @parhal Cool.

  • What a beautiful song! I am a fan of Laura Nyro and came across your interpretation of this song. You have a beautiful voice; please keep singing and posting things like this on YouTube! You've got a new fan in me, and I'm sure others who have seen this!

  • Hey you!!! Congratulations!!, that was a great tribute to great Laura Nyro and you sang so sweet .. that guitar and the treatment of the song are prefect and very catching. I loved hearing that song by your sweet voice. Please sing more songs..

  • Hey Kid ~ You've got talent. Have you written any tunes for yourself. If so, I suggest that you contact the local clubs, coffee shops, etc.

You really need to persue your God given talent.

  • You really need to seek exposure. You have a voice, way better than most who are getting paid ridiculous amounts of money.....I can only imagine how you must sound in person. You may not feel let getting into the business, but I feel you should share this gift. Even if you just make cover records. Thanks.

  • thank you! (has anyone ever said you sound like Emmylou Harris)

  • Yes, especially recently since I've been singing more folk/country songs including Boulder to Birmingham.

  • Beautiful rendition!

  • Excellent and brave! Makes me want to perhaps add that song to my band's repertoire.

  • you rock!

  • What a beautiful tribute. I think Laura would have been proud.

  • Very pretty. Guitar was amazing and your voice too. Laura Nyro Number Two.

  • Thank you so much for sharing this.

  • This is among my favorite Laura songs. It represents such a tender, grieving, hopeful, honest place -- another time.

  • This is really a sweet tribute...I miss Laura!

  • What an interesting arrangement! I join the others in complimenting your talent and feeling. Too bad that Laura Nyro seems almost forgotten by all but our generation . . .

  • =) No fear...I'm just a college freshman but I discovered Nyro a few weeks ago and I am absolutely in love with her music. I'll be sure to pass her on to my "one child born" in the future. =P

  • There is a very nice, bluesy version of this on the 1971 album BARBRA JOAN STREISAND. Check it out.

  • well done. laura is missed

  • Very very good. Nice voice. Laura was great.

  • Good singing and playing.

  • I've always loved this song and how wonderful that there's beautiful people out there to keep her soul and spirit of her music alive! This was so beautifully done! Thank you so much!

  • A beautiful song....thanks

  • What a tender, lovely interpretation and rendition. It deeply moves me as the world is a sadder and colder place since her beautiful, loving light left us.

You honor her through sharing your performance with us and I thank you for that.

  • Astounding! Joni was right all along, there really are a lot of people playin' real good for free, or virtually free, subtract broadband costs, etc. Thanks.
