He was fine it was a bad wreck but thank god he walk away with just some scratches it goes to show how well the Indy car frames are built to protech the drivers.

@AudioAndroid A few scratches is an understatement, he broke a leg and one of his vertebrae but you are right about the cars frame. Had that been in an older car he would probably be in worse shape.

no he didnt die, He broke his left leg and compressed a few vertebrae, so he is in a back brace for three months........pretty intense when you see it in person

@OneHandedSword He's fine...broke a few bones, but he's lucky to be alive. That's the SAME kind of crash that killed Tony Renna a few years back.

These cars are STATE-OF-THE-ART and are designed to break apart in the event of a crash, which is the BEST thing that can happen, especially when hitting the catch fence.

Well they do design the cars to be "aerodynamic"...as long as all four tires are flat on the ground that's fine but as soon as the front end angle-of-attack increases those cars will literally FLY!

Racing is dangerous folks. The safety mechanisms did their job. While it looks like a wheel got through the fence, the car did not. I'm so glad more spectators and neither driver were hurt more seriously. This is why we love motorsports! Men and women putting it all on the line for glory.
