@kenoh39 No its just the test exactly how it should be performed via gracie university or actually when you test in person... and the bonus of Rener and Ryron sparring all out...and you had to of gone through the whole stripe one curriculum in order for your test portion on your account to be active... lol other wise you would only be paying 20 dollars for 6 months-1years worth of lessons. hope that helps good luck

@kenoh39 i believe that their was a huge problem with pirating before & that would give them no way of tracking their students or their students progress..this was never meant to be a cache of valuable techniques pumped out to the public to for the intention of sales..its meant to be a AUTHENTIC SCHOOL, the only one with tho "ok; from Helio Gracie..unfortunately a few bad seeds tried to exploit DVDs so i believe the answer is NO..& that way you can only access the test if u earned it correctly

@kenoh39 & practiced the curriculum in the order of the main Academy in Torrence with the proper amount of mat time, plus when your logged in you can ask all the proper questions that your suppose to ask for proper belt progression,they can track that all from your gracie university account, & know how many times the lessons where watched & how long you watch each lesson.I believe the Gracies hearts are in the right place because this is not about pumping out all the tutorial dvds they can sale.

@ottl2 don't quit! It's normal to question your self and your skills. BJJ is very difficult. it only gets better and better. I wanted to stop too but knew I would regret it.

@ottl2 Hey - even in the stages of white belt you'll find yourself becoming very effective as you pick stuff up. Blue belt is a long way off; just enjoy learning at your own pace and the stripes will come before you know it

@ottl2 don't quit.  It can be a long hard road getting to blue belt. But I'll tell ya, earning my blue belt counts as one of my most proud accomplishments in life. BJJ belts aren't given out for free like in other martial art dissaplines

@ottl2 if you were to take it next week yes. thats why it can take years and sometimes a lifetime to completely master an art. give yourself time to grow, no pressure. take baby steps and and try not to think to far ahead. try to enjoy every step. try to see it as a good workout that keeps you fit. beethoven didnt turn into a musical genius overnight either.

question to the gracies? first thing i want to say is i think your guys are great and this martial arts of yours has had the biggest impact on the martial arts world than any other martial arts!! BUT don'T you guys think that it's important to train with a masterwho can explain everything detailed and shows your mistakes than learning through the net and earning higher grades through videos??

@tunsiCA94 Not trying to speak for Rener Or Ryron--or out of turn-- but as a member, if you join Gracie University the breakdowns for each technique are complete-- they cover all aspects of the tech including common mistakes-- and training with a trusted partner allows both of you to catch mistakes for each other-- Hope this helps and encourages you to join if you already havent :)

@tunsiCA94 u also can ask all the questions u would in a normal class & the response straight from an instructor are quick & side note,that blue belt test was the most grueling test I've seen in any school & they dont just give that belt away,the grading system is harsh & if they cant clearly see the move to make a accurate assessment they deduct, theirs NO leniency,most of my friends failed a COUPLE times for the SMALLEST details.OR U CAN do it live at the Gracie academy, gradings the same tho.

I stopped training for quite some time & started going to Gracie university & it by all means is possible but i think the word "harsh" is a understatement,the Gracie standard is by-far a high standard to say the least BUT IMO the Gracie Academy sets the bar. I mean this is the last school that Helio Gracie was active at,so trust me when I say their is NO shortcuts in these courses, they have a huge if not the hugest reputation for hard grading.

@pedro90 I dont think any clubs teach heel hooks early ...its a very on off move and if done to fast/ to eager by a less experienced BJJ belt then there a high risk of serious injury is high .

@pedro90 I studied under Rorion, Royce, Rickson, Royler, etc. Just my friendly "two cents worth": it's never too early to start teaching heel hooks. Heel hooks saved me a hundred times or more in the earliest days of my training against other styles. They're worth their weight in gold. Good luck with your training.

I went back to make sure the small Little things that make Gracie worth it and now working to make sure im a real Gracie instuctor. I am now teaching this system to Three of my school and I will be working on spreading it to over 100 more
