  • The best thing I can say about this is that perhaps there will be a handful of people who will go and listen to the actual Requiem and realize what great music actually sounds like.

  • everyone needs to stop saying that she ruined it, my deciding factor if i like a song is that it sends chills, and both this and the orriginal do that to me, plus if anyone now incorporates classical into rock it should be appreciated, the fact that lacrimosa has withstood the test of time and is used in a popular bands song is amazing

  • Lacrymosa comes from the Latin word lacrimo, which means cry (or more specifically, I cry). A fitting title if I say so, myself.

  • Her voice is so soothing! Close your eyes and fall.

  • Mozart was a fun loving musical radical in his time. on top of which he died young. I doubt he would be at all upset if he heard this song. The old people who are too conservative on the matter of music are the reason for the death of classical music. you should welcome the constant revival of classical music by each generation for it is the only way these divine pieces will survive. it's mearly evolution not destruction.

  • @AntiqueAngel44

should be, mozart's music and other famous composers' music shouldn't be abominated by this person

  • no,

    just no.

take out the guitar, the unnecessary drums and just use the original percussion used in the original song. ._.

  • Why is Lacrymosa evanescence's most disliked song on youtube? I dont understand? Its beautiful

  • I think mozart would be spitting at his computer screen.

  • i love in the backround when your hear ( dont np exactly how to type this btw )

    " lacrimosa"

    "dies illas"

  • Poor Mozart!...

  • @TheRequiemMaster999 why? all they did was imcorparate it into there music i bet mozrt would be happy bout this if he was still alive sense evanescence got imspired by this

  • If you like Evanescence then listin to Lacuna Coil. Great band.

  • Amazing! :)

  • i love evanescece!!

  • So what about Mozart? I am kind of confused. I just find this song very epic.

  • @turbotimmy67899 the songs based of Mozart's "Lacrimosa"

  • Personally - singing love song to music, which was intended to express sadness, sorrow, grief over lost people (no matter how sad this love was) is just wrong.

Not to mention, that love is often understood as the feeling you get when you are deeply attracted by someone's physical appearance.

People say they love a lot. They usually don't know what they are talking about. Doesn't matter if her love was true - as long as he (guessing?) didn't die, this should've had different melody.

  • Kinda makes me think of my ex.... damn.

  • I think the meaning of the song is that she was with someone she thought she loved, but she realized she was not herself with him and her love wan't enough. Now she wants to let go from him and let him set his guilt free, because nothing is more important from being yourself first of all.

  • This must be the way my girlfriend felt when I broke up with her. I feel like such a monster for putting her through that, thankfully we're back together and I cherish every moment that her and I are together.

  • @lovejoyland The song is supposed to symbolize his drop into insanity, I don't think that they thought they were in his league or "standing in his shadow". I think they were trying to show their own type of respect to one of the greatest unfinished symphonies. (my opinion, sorry if you disagree!) Many orchestras have created their own versions of it and finished it by themselves. They just did it a bit differently.

  • @LoveTheCrazy007 well the song only symbolizes WAM's decent into insanity if you believe what you see in the movie for which their is NO proof.

  • @lovejoyland what do you mean? Not to upstage you or anything, but I distinctly remember something about right before he died while he was working on the Requiem, he went into a delirious state which resulted in him not finishing it and that it kind of pertained to the darker theme of the song. He WAS bed ridden and laden with fever the whole time he was supposedly working on the Requiem, in fact the most widely accepted hypothesis is that Mozart died of acute rheumatic fever.

  • Comment removed

  • @LoveTheCrazy007 I appreciate learning from others! I have found that most articles indicate his health waxed and waned during this time and do not state any certainties re: his mental health other than to say that there were times when he thought he was being poisoned (which may have been due to symptoms he was experiencing which may have been caused by patent medicines), but none indicate that he was suffering from ongoing mental illness, nor that he was bedridden for the lot of that time.

  • @lovejoyland :) Touche. Well, it's good to know someone else knows about the actual composer and not just his music! But I guess everyone has different opinions on different works and everyone is entitled to them. Personally I like the song because the lyrics and the music itself kind of remind me of the that kind of dark feeling I get whenever I hear the actual song. I think they did a good job incorporating that.

  • @LoveTheCrazy007 In fairness I only know this because my daughter played this song for me. I then told her about the movie and what an impression it made on me at her age, but then did some research and found out about the artistic license taken by the film makers. This led to more research and now I'm much better informed than before. Still IMO using the greats as backdrops never works well for anyone, but otherwise Evanescence is probably my favorite of the bands my daughter listens to.

  • I'm sorry, but does she really think that she is in the same league as Mozart or that she has even earned the right to stand in his shadow??? Don't get me wrong, I'm not an Evanesence/Amy Lee hater, but there's obviously no comparison, and I think poor Wolfgang is rolling in a grave right about now.

  • @lovejoyland samples are done all the time. Mozart is great and all but get off his rotting dick.

  • @Missleanneiscool yes, but sampling just doesn't work when the sampled artist's talents are way beyond the talents of what the current "artist" can even hope to achieve.

  • @Missleanneiscool uhm, also you're really showing your mental age when you debase yourself by using profanity in your rebuttal.

  • @lovejoyland What? his dick IS rotting.

  • Comment removed

  • @Missleanneiscool actually I'm pretty sure it's non existent by now.

  • Why the hell is there a religious debate going on here?

  • sorz i'm just going to scrape and say this songs epic! sorz continue your debate it's interesting! ^-^ "evanescence live on" *said in quiet voice* lol

  • Well ... This is a requiem that Mozart composed, and it was also performed at his funeral. It's a deeply religious piece and it's disturbing to see musicians sample it without respecting why it was composed. Overall I like this band's style, but disappointed with this song..

  • This song is awesome, but could someone explain to me what it is about. What is the song saying? And what does Lacrymosa mean in english.

  • @racheladams456 Lacrymosa is Latin for 'weeping' or 'crying'

  • wow this reminds me of a soundtrack from fate stay night

  • The original song Lacrimosa, means 'weeping' in some language, but I forget

  • @lacrymosa789 Latin! ^^

  • I love songs like this. thats why my name is Lacrymosa... Love Mozart too

  • i love the pict

    where you get it?

  • good song to listen while your slicing your wrist! lol.

  • Mozart must be smiling right now..

  • @mesich22 So severely doubt it. This is a terrible idea, cheap, not talknig about bad performance, but a shallow rip of a deep bit of music rendered pop-cheap with that adolescent breathy bad singing so many tweens think is,like 'really emotional. Fucking dreadful, really. Now, if they'd made up their own everything.

  • esto es verdadera musica no como justin puttiber, hana montana, ni el regeton

evanescence es verdadera musica son los mejores y amy canta bn xido alcanza unas notas q muy pocos pueden y su estilo es realmente unico

  • this song is amazing, like seriously, listen to this then listen to justin bieber. I mean, I have nothing against justin bieber, but this song isnt just music, its art.

  • I think Mozart would be thrilled to hear this!

Isn't it the greatest compliment if your music lasts through the centuries and is beloved by young people as well as old?

Purists need to relax; it is a wonderful thing if someone loves your music enough to wish to incorporate it in his or her own creations.

  • @Whitelight1970 love being ripped off and in a much less deeply meaningful pop commercial setting. Oh, yes, just I'm sure what the man wanted.

  • nothing emo has to be on Twilight everytime..a song is a song made to express..not always for a movie or anything else..im tired of people thinking that music is only for somethingt else instead of its own purpose..if Mozart heard you say that...he'd be upset..all composers want to be appreciated fo ther piece, not fo the movie, but HIS creation.. Amy Lee IS talented, and using Mozarts Piece was the best thing any person couldve done <3

  • mr mozart would love this

  • @incubus6794 yeah but his was deaf...

  • @theodoroscristou No he wasn't; I think you mean Beethoven :-)

  • @mrsspanner14 oh yeah!thanks

  • @mrsspanner14 it was Beethoven who was Tone death, Mozart had Tourettes where he randomly cusses randomly

  • whats this even supposed to mean ?? confusing

  • I'm surprised they're not on any of the Twilight movie soundtracks, they're certainly emo-enough!

  • @mslizard For this song to be on Twilight would be an insult to Amy Lee.

  • Issac Newton, the father of such things as physics, calculus, among other earth changing genius famously remarked, “If I have seen as far as I have, it is because I have stood on the shoulder of giants”. From this work it is clear, Evanescence was standing on the other shoulder!

  • dude, fuck mozart, hes awesome and all, but evanescence is a kickass band.

  • @courtney29100 That's a stupid thing to say. People like Mozart paved the way for bands like Evanescence in the future. Without the composers of the past music would be very different now.

  • dude, fuck mozart, evanescence is a kickass back

  • ah me encanta el Requiem de Mozart y lo que ha hecho Evanescence no está nada mal :D

  • mozart would just ignore such a thing, probably with a laugh!

  • Comment removed

  • Ainda bem que Mozart já morreu. Deve ter se revirado no caixão!!!!!!!!!!!!! Horrivel

  • Do you know what is the most important reason of why I like Evanescence?

You'll never get bored of them. You can listen one song and it will be your fave song. Two moths later, you listen it again, and it's your fave song again. ;D

  • she is a very unique and beautiful artist and she inspires me because she is classically trained which you don't see alot and for her to be so open with it is very inspiring. she is out there competing with beyonce and rhianna and miley cryus and to me she is by far the best!!!!!

  • ii loOve EvaNesCence!!!

    :D

  • Omg I love this song! And I'm gonna be singing it in my highschool's talent show this Friday!! *squeals* I'm so nervous and excited!

  • You cut off the awesome ending!!!

  • me encanta evanescence su voz de la chava esta muy padre

  • I love this song , its relexing

  • ohhhhhh bravo!!!

    rock!!!!

  • Ahh..... wonderful!

  • I have been researching Mozart's Requiem and I'm singing it with my Choir. My sheet music for Lacrymosa is translated like this:

A day of tears is that dread day,

on which shall rise from ashen dust

to judgement true each guilty man.

The spare this soul, O G-D, we pray,

    O loving Saviour, Jesus Lord,

Grant thou to them, thy rest. Amen

  • @steffyluvsmusic Why did you sensor God?

  • @nupinoop296 It is disrespectful to G-d to write his name fully. I heard it in one of my religion classes.

  • @steffyluvsmusic Hmm...Where does it say that?

  • @nupinoop296 Where does what say that? I never said it was in a book. My religion professor said that in some of the old communities of Religion believed that.

  • @steffyluvsmusic Ah, I see.

  • @nupinoop296 Well, technically "God" is NOT his name...lol. It's a noun, a title...His name would be (in this particular case only), "Jesus", and as you see, they didn't have a problem writing it down...

  • @airfloydmusic actually God's name is Jehovah... Jesus is His son

  • @UKpatriot90 Well that's up for debate (and a very large debate divinding Christian communities worldwide). I personally believe that his name being "Jehovah" (asJehovah's witnesses support it) is simply a misconception. "Jehovah" is the Hebrew translation of "I am" or "the one who is". He only gave this title (not name) to Moses because at the time, they were not ready to receive his "mysterious name of wonders", which was later revealed as "Jesus".

  • @airfloydmusic Jesus made it very clear in the New Testament that he is God's Son and not God himself and i can quote many verses that support that

  • @steffyluvsmusic no it isn't the clergy has been deceiving many people all these centuries... in fact God wants us to know his true holy name and use it in our worship

  • @UKpatriot90 It is what I believe, and so I put that in my comment. You have no right to tell me what I believe is wrong. Be respectful of other people and their beliefs. And to some of your other comments, take a religion class. You might learn something. Also, I like how a simple post has turned into this.

  • @steffyluvsmusic i'm not imposing on you what to believe... i'm just saying it's good to search a bit more what the truth is and not just rely on your personal opinions or what others might have told you... at least i have searched a lot and understood what true Christianity is

  • Que asco Dx....

  • @omanyta COME MIERDA

  • @omanyta si no te gusta... porque te molestaste en hacer click en el video?

  • omg! i got this melody on my head for just about 5 min. ago,, i was on clips that shows right now,, i never thougt of the melody before!! i don't even like mozart!! that'¨s freaking creepyO.O

  • lacrymosa dies illa , lacrymosa Dona eis requiem means tearful day that caused pain but he was amused or something

  • love this song. my life

  • amazing song :P

  • i just read the lyrics, the FULL ones and i just wanted to ask...

    is it "lacrymosa, dies illa"?

because i have learnt some latin at school and the full phrase means "teary, that day". the noun "dies" is in the 5th conjugation, whose all nouns are feminine, but this is the one thats masculine :P so it should normally be "lacrymosus, dies ille".

Sorry for the brainwash ^^" i just couldnt keep myself !

  • @AdrianBandic i dont know latin but this song is mainly based on the lacrimosa of mozarts requiem:

    Lacrimosa dies illa,

    qua resurget ex favilla

    judicandus homo reus.

    Huic ergo parce Deus,

    pie Jesu Domine,

    dona eis requiem!

    Amen!

this text is based on a famous thirteenth century hymnus thought to be written by thomas of celano

  • oh thx a lot for info!!!!

and i can translate it!!!! it means:

    Teary that day,

which will revive from the ash

    judging the convicted man.

So spare respectingly to him God,

    Jesus Master,

    presents to them relaxation!

    Amen !

Thats a crappy translation, I cant do that good with latin yet so its a bit free :P

  • That's pretty close, here's another:

That day of tears and mourning,

when from the ashes shall arise,

    all humanity to be judged.

Spare us by your mercy, Lord.

    gentle Lord Jesus,

    grant them eternal rest. Amen

  • @thefaeriepath Thank you, you covered me up lol :P much better :)

  • Haha, no problem. :]

  • mmmmmmm yes, maybe

and wtf latin cant change itself

i even discussed it with my latin teacher. She is puzzled too.

  • no, but the people who learn it can get things wrong, allowing for flaws

  • well yes, thats right, what to say...

  • lol, no worries

  • yeah, it doesn't follow the Mozart much at all. They just kind of based a formula rock tune on his opening riff.

  • AMOAMOAMO

  • Evanescence=most amazing band ever :)

  • This isn't wrong, Amy loved Mozart and that to make something of it. I wasn't necessarily a cover, being they changed the i to a y and the only they only used the choir in the background ... not even all of the lyrics. Ev is freakin' brilliant and creative. It's better than the gaga paparazzi bull crap.

  • @ToddLovett09 you´re so right

  • @ToddLovett09 i 100% agree!

  • @ToddLovett09 cud have made a better example though, like kesha, cause lady gaga ain't all pop garbage -- she takes root from 80's pop, putting traces of them in her music, and also citing it as her main influence. but otherwise, i agree with u, totally.

  • I like this a lot better than the original!!! It's freakin' awesome!

  • i love how amy changed a classical song into something we all can listen to since nt everyone will actually sitt and listen to classical anymore but i love this version

  • Comment removed

  • @DudeJelle Lacrymosa is a beautiful song that Mozart created. Amy Lee's angelic vocals and the sound of rock is an epic combination. Evanescence+Mozart= musical genius!

  • amazing song

  • This is a great song

  • I Fucking Loveeee This Song!!!

Evertime I Listen To This Song, My Mind Go Through So Ideas

(For Creative Writing) This Fucking Rock!!!

  • i'm totally agree with Toxin08

  • Mozart would turn in his grave if he heard this.

  • probibly, but it's an awesome remix.

  • ...agreed, damn, this is just...wrong, not that i don't like evanescence, but mozzart's version is 1000 better

  • @Toxin08 i guess mozart wouldnt have enough space to turn because he was burried in a mass grave ;)

the song is quite good but i also prefer lacrimosa by mozart.

  • Comment removed

  • @Toxin08 exaggeration

  • So? He's dead and dead men can't talk.

  • @Toxin08 if I were a musician I would be honored if someone used my work in such a magnificent song. Amy Lee is a genious

  • awesome song.

  • pretty good but I prefer the original

  • beautiful. The only group that can truly succeed in messing with mozart. lol

  • Being a classical purist (basically a stuck up music nerd) I REALLY agree with you.

  • I agree with you D:

  • toferrell

    hi haha :D

  • LMFAO at toferrell... "I didn't know that Youtube was in other countries!" -- Hilarious! Omg some americans seem to live in a bubble or something! xD

  • @LOLJunkiee

Hey Hey! Americans don't live in a bubble; idiots (toferrell) do.

  • hmm, this is an interesting song, one that only Evanescence could pull off....

    and toferrell, you're a dumbass.

  • such a beautiful song

  • Lets all drop the politics shit!

  • Toferrell You sound like a true JACKASS. What if you were in Europe and someone came all up to you like you shouldn't be here if you don't speak the language, wouldn't feel to good now would it??? And you sound really racist, Obama inherited a broken country so shove off ,the man JUST got started and people like you are finding all sorts of ways to tear him down. LAY OFF JERK!

  • .... What if they're not living in America ?

  • I looove this Song, i looove amy lees voice, i looove Mozart x333 Thanks for this amazing song Amy Lee/Mozart x3

  • Not everyone lives in america >_>

  • ya but the video was made in america....

  • Really, Americans look bad enough already. Would you just knock off?

You're making me want to go and change my profile to say that I live in the UK.

  • ... so ?

  • so obviously they can speak English, so since they are in our country they should speak OUR language

  • On the internet there are no rules wheter you have to speak a language because something was made in america

if I buy an American t.v. does that mean I have to speak english each time im around it ?

  • no but thats not my point

  • what is explain

  • It wasn't ment for you to read so no complain it was for who understands spanish and obviously you dont so Zipped

  • wats your point? im just expressing my opinion, and you cannot tell me i cant do that

  • All i am saying is you cant tell someone wich language they can or cant speak and that it doesn't make sense what you say about its american so speak english

  • and im just saying if they come to our country they should speak our language
