This group didn't get their JUST due...I was crazy about the "Screams of Passion". BUT THIS CUT HERE.....O-M-G!!!! This cut was so FUNKY!!! I used to get angry because I felt it was too damn short...WANTED TO KEEP GROOVIN!!!! Thanks for the post!!!
Eric Leeds is truely wonderful on the track. What a pity that emobiscuits has compressed it to such a degree that he ruined it. Prince's brilliant backing breathes in and out all the way through. Please re-post this with less compression.
Ha! I love doing this. Just like a DJ, I opened up a second YouTube to blend the next song "Desire" in right after this track, like it does on the album. I had those violins chiming in seamlessly. (Thumbs up if you like to use YouTube like a DJ too! It's in my blood!)
@myfunkyway9 You're intuition is right. Prince did perform all the instruments on this album and later mixed in Eric Leeds' sax and Susannah and St Paul's vocals.
Anybody know anything about Madhouse? Eric Leeds led this jazz based Minn. band under Paisley Park. Their music was like this. One of only two "cassettes" I ever lent anyone. It hasn't happened since. Oh yeah, I have this album, too.
@Carla08120812 Madhouse was actually a prince album. eric leeds just played sax and flute. Prince led everyone to believe that it was an actual band, when in fact it was him playing every instrument : ) Eric Leeds finally told the truth

@Carla08120812 Well, Madhouse was actually Prince and Eric Leeds, and sometimes Sheila E would fill in on drums in the studio. They had 2 officially released albums, "8" in 1986, and "16" in 1987. A "24" was recorded, but was never released, though several bootleg copies got out somehow. There was also an iteration with the NPG and they recorded a "24" album which is FONKAY!!!! Highlights include a remake of "Give It Up" cover of Marvin Gaye song - with Nona Gaye in the background.
MAN PRINCE was on fire around this ERA he could not go wrong i wish he could go back to being this funky stupid wit it SICK wit the FUNK I miss this PRINCE i could not get enough of him when he was this funky Come back 2 BLAK prince PLEASE. This stuff was mesmorizing AMAZING ,This track STINKS keep it funky .This was the prince i loved .CLASSY FUNKSTER Slick bass lines Horns impecable timing Greasy chicken guitar playing .
I'm looking for the song by this group called "screams of passion". It used to be able to hear it on youtub but can't find it. Can someone please upload it?
@mrvacolvin WORD!!!!! Eric Leeds would mop the floor with Kenny G several times over. Kenny G ain't got nothing on Eric! Eric's solo albums and the leaked unreleased stuff he did with Madhouse are BANANAS!!!!!!!! There's a song by Madhouse called 18 and the saxwork on that jam is NUTS!!!!!
Prince played everything except for the sax part which is eric leeds. This album is written and produced by prince. The only song prince did not write was river run dry by Bobby Z.
Eric sounds great on this, but Prince's bass solo (at 1:30) reveals that "hommie" has got some pretty serious bass player chops! LOL! He's using an octave-divider, which sort of gives the whole bass part kind of a Bootsie Collins feel, but Prince's improvisation skills appear to go quite a bit deeper than Bootsie's, here. I had always thought it was Victor Wooten playing bass on this tune.
is this the chase on the boat ,,,, from under the cherry moon?
