@S2Cents Hah, you're right! Probably! I guess! Assuming you have stats to back that up! But yes, I guess the person who introduced me to the idea of a post literarlarlrly world may have been loom smashing it a bit.
@JunkerJames It's a weird idea that's out there that I've heard many times.. it's like in the air. Smart, bookish people say it. Literature professors freaked out by pop-culture. It blew my mind when I heard somebody debunk it. Don't recall who. It's amazing to consider that just say 5 generations ago most people were illiterate. Public libraries are a 'new' phenomenon mostly going back to the 19th century.
5:37 Wow, the shot of the tomb stone is really blurry. The 8s in 1980 & 1986 look like 3s. My first reaction was, "They got it wrong. Jean Paul didn't die in 1930"
4:07 The background to that newscast looks more like the background of a game show. It in a way is a subtle revealing of how the news has been delivered to the masses in age of television media.
@glrcmptn Good point in case. I think that talking and thinking about doing something is actually doing something very important in its own right and way. I wish there ever was a philosopher who could ask the question whether "doing completely nothing, being utterly passive but at the same time being intelligent and critical about the reality" is a praiseworthy outlook. I think it is. I feel my existence is therefore justified.
BHL... quel minable...

In a post literary world, my only knowledge of Jean Paul Sartre was through Monty Python sketches. I feel like I've been living under a rock.
This was so interesting. Thanks for posting it.

i think he does answer the question 'how does one live life' by doing it and not talking about doing it.
