@Reason0684 Precisely. Notice his hands were off the wheel the moment he knew he wouldn't be able to recover. The violent snap back the steering wheel put out when his Aston hit the ARMCO barrier could've broken his wrists.
Damn, what an accident. I would never expect Paul Ricard of all places to be that treacherous when it comes to rain with all the runoff area as well is it not having the same kind of Elevation changes as a track like Road Atlanta for puddles. In any case, crazy stuff. Almost looks like a repeat of that GT race accident at Brands Hatch in 03 and the Six Hour Race At the Glen in 04.
No Water. Just a Curb...

If you look closely at 0:54 you can see a white corvette not just smashing into the barrier, but made a hole in it.

why does it look like he is stretching his feet so much at 0:39?
subeefan 2 years ago
@subeefan: That's because in racing they teach you "If you spin, both feet in" for RWD to control the spin.
Reason0684 1 year ago
@Reason0684 yes i know of the two feet in thing, but normally the driver's legs aren't so stretched out. JUST SAYING

why? i can`t undestand! oil on track?
911gt333 2 years ago
Water, at racing speeds drivers hold their cars on the limit of the tire's grip
So, when they hit an unexpected patch of water, with less grip, chaos ensues.

you right!

rain + surprisingly slippery curbs
